If you're a creator and you needed to hear this today:
You have no idea how many people lurk on your work. No idea how many times people go back to revisit your work. How big they smile when they simply think about your work. How fast their heart beats, how excited they get when they see that you posted something.
People are shy with their feedback. Sometimes it’s because they’re simply shy. Other times it’s because they assume you already know how great and talented you are. Could be both.
My point is, even if you barely have any likes or reblogs, don’t get discouraged. You have a lot of silent fans, but they are still your fans. Keep on creating. Because there is always someone out there who will love what you have made.

on the one hand this is a joke post because lol i have never made a good post in my life, but also, if i hadn’t made the connection between this update and my sudden nosedive in activity, i would have been really fucking discouraged about all the shit i’ve been working on lately. i guarantee there are people on tumblr right now who haven’t made that connection, and who are trying to figure out why suddenly no one likes anything they’ve made. and that fucking sucks.
Reminder to go into your settings and turn off ‘Best Stuff First’ because my activity’s tanked a couple days ago for no reason so this stuff IS happening.
You WILL miss content with that setting on.

I can only find the option on the app under Settings > Dashboard Preferences.
To support content creators do us a favour and turn off “Best stuff first”. Open the tumblr app (Android or iOs) and go to “Settings > Dashboard Preferences. And please reblog this post, so that everybody will see this. Thank you very much!

We interrupt your regularly-scheduled sci-fi content because this is important for app users, and it sucks. We all follow blogs because we want to see their content, not to have a crappy algorithm decide what’s best.
This blog is down approximately 80%, which doesn’t affect me other than as an annoyance (as this is a hobby and @okayto is small-ish) but the issue undoubtedly hurts others.
Below are instructions for turning it off. You have to do it individually–it doesn’t matter if a blog you follow turns it off, you’ll still be affected unless you do the same.
We don’t normally reblog PSAs, but this is very clearly affecting us, too! If you haven’t been getting your daily dose of RPG humor, this setting is probably why. Turn it off so you can see all the silly shit players say!
Trying to reblog the versions of these instructions with the most notes, so they’ll actually show up for the people afflicted by this update.
My activity has nosedived too, despite posting the same kinda content and just as regularly- this absolutely sucks!
Please turn it off <3, this is my job :’), I get 90% of my commissions through tumblr, and this is really not looking good for me!

I know I have turned this off in the past, but after seeing this post, I checked it, and lo and behold, it was turned on! Please go in your settings and see what you’re set at.
Hi! Can you help let people know that tumblr is now blocking "promo" from searches and tags results? This means anyone using "promo" or "self promo" as is for their promo posts aren't showing up in tags. One popular alternative seems to be using promo with a period at the end instead, as the tag is still usable and doesn't get blocked.
Pizza can let them know this shit by answering this ask.
As someone who RPs when not doing shitty memes for Y'all, the shit tag system has been well shit. I mean Pizza has to force themselves to remember to tag the things in hopes Y’all might see the things.
To have tags nerfed more and more really sucks. The site becomes more and more user- un-friendly because they are fixing the shit that isn’t broke and leaving the shit that needs to go. (Looking at you Pedos and Nazis. and those who sympathize with you.) Did we really need the blue to be updated to burn your retinas out levels? Nope.
Pizza could rant about so much shit. But we’d be here for several days. And well most of the bitching has been done by others and Pizza has shit to do outside of Tumblr. Did Pizza say shit enough? Shit.

As a tech person, I thought “maybe they changed for it works and the search is too broad? Try narrowing it down.”
So I tried my own promo tag. I even checked it with the hashtag included just to be sure.
nothing.
As an Ask blog, this is bad news for me! But something occurred to me right as i was about to get mad.
Did they blacklist synonyms?
NOPE!!
Again, AS A TECH PERSON, I suggest we find another word to use like ‘intro’ alongside the promo tag.
Here’s why.
1) Anybody that’s tried to implement a profanity filter or tried to block tags for content on their dash knows that blocking variations of one thing is easier than blocking variations of multiple things.
2) Given the recent ban on filth, I’m guessing they might be trying to find RP accounts that don’t post images. No images, nothing to run through the filth algorithm and this harder to catch.
3) Regular artists and even small businesses use the promo tag, so this is BAD for them too. Pretty much trying to kill business on Tumblr altogether, whether intentionally or not.
4) Agreeing on new tags, possibly more specific for their use, like “Art.Promo” or “RP INTRO” will help us find out who Tumblr is after.
5) THERE IS A SMALL CHANCE THIS WAS AN ACCIDENT.
If so, adding a new tag into what you usually use will help your stuff be found until the problem is fixed.

I want to talk to people.
Yes part of this site is about rping with one another, and making sure that our muses talk to one another and potentially grow closer (or try to rip one another apart, but some of us want that too). But I do not want to just have the rp and nothing else. To be able to talk to one another and talk theoretical about our muses, or talk about ships.
Hell, being able to talk about anything at all helps. Some of us just like to talk to one another, while others of us genuinely feel like people don’t like us when there is general silence. We want to form relationships, and for some of us starting interactions is hard enough that trying to find the courage to talk to someone OOC separately is nearly impossible to find.
This is an open invitation to come and talk to us. Make people feel welcome. RPing is more fun with other people anyways.

Look, sometimes you try out a romance ship and it TANKS. It’s dead in the water before anything can happen. Flirting fails, there’s no gushy moments, no sexy times, no za-za-zing. My muse just doesn’t feel it, your muse just doesn’t feel it. Or, it’s only one-sided and the rejected party feels WEIRD now. But that doesn’t mean we have to make it awkward and cancel all rp attempts! There is NOTHING wrong with keeping them platonic, having them bicker, or seeing them become some other kind of relationship, etc. The RPC puts SO MUCH pressure on rom ships as being the ONLY way you can interact with muses, even if the muns still want to write their characters together somehow.
Now, if you only pursued my muse in the first place for a romance, and ignore me because of that, yes, I’m not going to lie—that hurts & it feels gross. But if you just need time to reroute your muse, I get that too!! But there’s no need to feel “weird” about it.
I’M OPEN. IF YOU WANT TO CONTINUE TO WRITE YOUR MUSE WITH MINE BUT IN A DIFFERENT WAY, PLEASE DO! TALK TO ME!! :)

“Paying it forward” is about to become VERY important for the RPC to survive.
Now more than ever, (or at least until things change YET again) whether someone is NSFW or Un-flagged, it would be SO HELPFUL to your neighbors that:
When they post their BLOG PROMOS…to actually reblog them.
Tumblr’s new “flagging” system deems that anyone who is marked as “NSFW,” even if they aren’t posting porn after the 17th, will become invisible to the search engines on here. SO. That means we have to spread the word when our fellow rp’ers are looking for new players. I know some of us don’t want to clutter our blogs, but this is one simple way of averting total isolation. And I understand, that not everyone’s rp blog is appropriate or applicable to our followers, and this is a big stretch to assume people will do this. I’m not proposing you reblog ALL promos, just do what you can!!!
Why is this important?
Only UN-flagged blogs and their posts can be found everywhere on tumblr after December 17, and un-flagged blogs will remain seen 100% on both mobile and web, with all previous rights in place.
So until [ you ] appeal [ your ]“NSFW” status, and get marked as un-flagged, the RPC is going to suffer a huge blow. People are already exiting this site, so for the survivors? Let’s take this opportunity to start anew, and get novice writers a chance to be seen, and to those of us seasoned writers that still remain, we need to be a good example. Because let’s face it, even before the ban, the RPC was going to HELL.
Sports teams call this sort of thing “a rebuilding year” and that’s what we gotta do as a community. Work together, and stop being so damn selfish, or NO ONE is going to be left.
