I bought that exact same toaster for my wife. I was thinking it would last a year, maybe two, and then we could get a "real" toaster (for the record, I don't care that it's a Hello Kitty toaster, I just hate that it leaves a big untoasted spot on one side of the bread). That was like 17 years ago and it's still showing no signs of wearing out.
Hello kitty apparently doesn’t believe in planned obsolescence as my hello kitty flip phone is still perfectly functional and never even needs charging (baffling. possibly because i never really use it) and everyone i know who had a hello kitty radio or CRT TV growing up hasn’t gotten rid of them or sold them for a good price because they refuse to stop working or even show any signs of wear. the devil works hard but hello kitty works harder

I use Canva for work and I am losing my mind over this image when you search for “fellowship” and “teamwork”

This is a very interesting case where cultural differences come into play. I see this and yes, immediately what I see is the visual representation of “fellowship” and “teamwork”! But to people from other cultures this can look like a bunch of people grabbing someone’s butt.
As has been evidenced by other Catalan people in the notes, this is very easily recognisable for us as the base of a castell.
Castellers (which in the Catalan language means “castle builders”) are people who climb on each other to make this “human castles”. It’s one of the most beloved Catalan traditions. It symbolizes the spirit of teamwork and inclusion, because all people come together to reach for the sky, which they could not be able to do alone.
Nothing symbolizes teamwork and belonging better than dozens of people holding your ass to give you strength!

Hitler’s biggest problem wasn’t the memetic art school, it’s the trauma he got as a survivor of WWI + the drastic state of the Weimar Republic’s economy post WWI + centuries of antisemitic attitudes being built into the then-contemporary German society + rise of the banks following early globalization, Great Depression and other wacky events while the banks were mainly Jewish-owned due to Christians largely considered banking beneath them.
So does this mean if Hitler didn’t become dictator then someone else would have taken his place given those circumstances?
Yeah, very likely either the NSDAP would’ve formed anyway with another crazy asshole at the helm or communists would’ve won and did genocide and conquering independently.
Jung described Hitler as “Germany’s shadow” and he was, he didn’t have a coherent Ideology when he stepped up and held his beer hall speeches. He spoke and was influenced by how the people there reacted to his words, so he was moulded by the sentiment of the masses into what he later became.
Also fascism and German Fascism formed independent of Hitler. If anything Hitler simply co-opted an already existing movement and to put himself at the head.
As far as antisemitism goes, you must remember that it wasn’t the Nazis who came up with the scape-goating, it was the Prussian aristocracy and Wilhelm II that created and pushed the “stabbed in the back” narrative to shift blame away from their botched handling of WW1 and refusal to end things earlier on much better terms.

World War II is the subject of countless movies, documentaries, books, and media, but World War I and its aftermath’s effect on the roots of World War II is generally less publicized. Which is a crying shame, because you can draw a direct throughline from the Treaty of Versailles to a lot of the chaos of the 20th century and beyond, including World War II, the Middle East, and more.
Also fascism and German Fascism formed independent of Hitler See Italy and Spain, maybe not for the German part but Francoist Spain was a terribly long run of fascism and it was tolerated for some reason, likely because at the start everyone was too busy with other things and at the end they’d chilled some, long run tho

Ya, that’ll keep Austria Hungary around a while longer Balkans already the powder keg of Europe still primed and ready to blow after the first 2 wars they’d already had at the start of the 20th century.
Oh Ottoman Empire gets to have a bit more time on life support, that’ll be fun at least we might not have to deal with the Sykes–Picot Agreement where the UK and France carved up the middle east into most of the shape it’s currently in.
Iran would be about the same, Persia’s been Persia for a long time but most of the rest of the region would have devolved into some kind of civil war while the different factions did their things eventually setting their own borders based off linguistic and cultural similarities instead of where the UK and France wanted to exploit for resources.
Might have been able to avoid the October Revolution in Russia that led to the Soviet Union though, no super deadly war causing dissent in the ranks aimed at the Czar no need for the kaiser to hand Lenin a briefcase full of money to go start his revolution and get the Russian army to go home so the eastern front wasn’t a thing.
Wouldn’t have wound up ticking of Ho Chi Minh by casting him and the other folks from Vietnam off and ignoring them, stuff with Japan too.

Incredible number of incredibly terrible things in the world that could have been avoided if they had just arrested and hung the dude that killed the Archduke and it go at that.

Sorry, I really hate WW1. It never should have happened, should have been a regional dust up, and would have been if not for the generals and kings.
