When you are brutally losing at chess implore your opponent to look inwards its called the little pony gambit
one time I went over to a friend's house and their housemate was making paper in the living room, and we saw this big tub full of water they were using to dissolve old scrap paper into a slurry, and everyone was immediately like "oh, you need scrap paper?" and started turning out their jacket pockets and producing expired coupons and bus tickets and crumpled receipts and old shopping lists and whatever else they'd been carrying round with them for no good reason, and passing it all to the paper-making housemate to make sure it was suitable before it got torn up and dropped into the tub, while people took turns stirring the slurry with a big wooden stick. it was strangely ritualistic, like presenting an offering to some kind of temple elder for inspection before placing it in a watery shrine to be devoured and reformed. pulp for the pulp god.
I have kind of a niche political view on tumblr, which is that I think misogyny is bad even when itâs just hurting women
and I donât even think it needs to have a singular benefit for men for feminism and the abolition of patriarchy to be worthwhile
in fact the abolition of patriarchy could be a net loss for men and I would still think that feminism and the abolition of patriarchy was worth it
itâs frustrating when youâre talking about an inherently oppressive institution that dehumanizes everyone who is subjected to it and someone is like âitâs especially bad for those it is incorrectly applied to!â as though being the intended victim of an injustice makes it less of a tragedy
been thinking about this lately after some discussions about historical marriage where people have chimed in about how extra awful it would have been for trans men forced into The Wife Role because of dysphoria. which like. yeah. but the thing about The Wife Role in the context of not having civil rights and being the property of a husband is that it is inherently dysphoria-inducing to anyone who identifies as a human being instead of an object.

One of the best letters Iâve ever seen just popped up on my Facebook memories. Still makes me laugh.
As today is the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, itâs a great time to revisit Dinah from Devonâs memory of this historic event. And yes, still makes me laugh.
Today is the 54th anniversary of the moon landing, but Dinahâs diary entry is still absolutely magnificent.
57th anniversary of the moon landing and the best diary entry in the history of diary entries. Sit down Samuel Pepys, itâs over. UGH.
Iâm reading this book about the changing arctic and the author stayed with the Nunamiut people of inland alaska for a while and talked to this high school kid who was like âugh I hate going to school in the spring I wish I was hunting caribouâ and I thought that was charming. you often hear about people who are devoted to preserving their traditional culture and knowledge but itâs rare to hear about someone whoâs invested in the old ways out of pure teenage selfishness. school is lame and hunting caribou is awesome
Supermassive Black Hole lends itself to soundtracking one thing and one thing alone and that is a strip club. Supermassive Black Hole is the most perfect strip club rock song I've ever heard. I've heard rock songs *about* strip clubs that feel less suited to a strip club than Supermassive Black Hole. I have heard songs where sex is explicitly described in the lyrics that feel less sexy than Supermassive Black Hole. Supermassive Black Hole is a song so disgustingly, flagrantly, enticingly slutty that I sometimes feel legitimately shocked that it was made by a band that most people make fun of for sounding like if Radiohead sold out after their first album. It is a crowning achievement in stripper music that may never be topped in our lifetime. It is best known for soundtracking the scene in the first Twilight movie where they play baseball.

Boston Hunters:
New Englandâs coastal hunter, the osprey doesnât circle and wait. It picks its target, folds its wings, and hits the water talons first. We move fast and we move first, striking out the competition without hesitation. The Hunters are inspired by Harriot Hunt who, like the osprey, set her mind on a goal and made it happen. A trailblazing physician, she was one of the first women to practice medicine professionally in the USA, despite being denied admission to Harvard twice because of her gender. Like Harriot, the Hunters are ready leave their mark on history books.
Los Angeles Queens:
Inspired by our namesake, Lizzie Murphy â nicknamed the âQueen of the diamondâ- the LA Queens are built on the confidence, presence and influence she carried throughout her trailblazing career, qualities that also define Los Angeles. Lizzie Murphy broke barriers at a time when opportunities for women in pro sports were extremely limited, showing the world how true talent rises to the top. We carry the Queen of the diamondâs legacy, channeling her confidence, ambition, and style. Itâs time to claim the throne.
New York Heights:
Built around the ambition, intensity and relentless standards associated with New York, the Heights demands excellence. Just like our namesake, Dorothy Height, weâre ready to rise to the occasion. One of the most influential leaders of the civil and womenâs rights movements, Dorothy Height dedicated her life to advancing equality for all. As we take the field, weâre inspired by her confidence, leadership, and unwavering commitment to her goals. Just like Dorothy Height, weâre ready to rise to the occasion and change the game.
San Francisco Firebells:
Forged in fire, inspired by the rebellious spirit of Firebelle Lil. San Francisco has burned and rebuilt more than any other American city, but like a phoenix, each time weâre knocked down we come back stronger. As a teenager, Lillie âFirebelle Lilâ Hitchcock Coit famously leapt into action to help San Francisco volunteer firefighters battle a blaze on Telegraph Hill. She became an icon for the firefighters, known for rebellious attitude and open defiance of the gender norms of the time. Like Firebelle Lil, we show up and show out, bringing our energy, pride, and ambition with us every time we hit the field.

Where's that post that's like "people on tumblr see anorexia as a stupid thing girls do for fun instead of a deadly disease" ?
Like I wonder if maybe these women have something else in common besides being rich? Maybe something like being in the public eye 24/7 and having 1000000000000 people a day comment on their bodies in public forums where everyone including them can see and hear it??
Sorry I'm not done. We are really at the "women developing anorexia is actually Another Way To Oppress You" level of backlash to feminism and "every single thing on earth is about Marxism" type discourse on the internet now? Really? Women are developing anorexia, a deadly disease that fucks up your organs forever and slashes decades off your life, to Show Off How Capitalist They Are and oppress you? And this is a take coming from "innerchildabortionclinic." Something something the reason abortion is the only serious feminist issue the left still likes to talk about has everything to do with being perceived as "edgy" and absolutely NOTHING to do with women's rights or bodily autonomy or seeing women as human beings, as is I think made VERY evident by this "hot take" by "innerchildabortionclinic" that women develop anorexia on purpose to show off how rich they are and oppress you. God all fucking mighty crawl back into Hot Topic and leave sick women the hell alone!!!
