The way I've been seeing insecure little men react to the premise of Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma and Jane Schoenbrun’s work in general pisses me off so bad. They act like it’s such a fucking awful thing for a movie to be made with a specific audience in mind, that mass appeal is what we should strive for in the arts. That commercial success is the end all be all of how good a movie is.

It grinds my gears that self proclaimed “film bros“ won’t shut the fuck up about how modern cinema is nothing but remakes and existing IP, but shit on a filmmaker who is making something new and original and commenting on endless remakes because they’re queer and making movies for a queer audience.

I'm just so sick of cishets (especially cishet men) looking at something and going "well it isn't tailored for me so therefore it has no value".
