I was at Disney, about to ride the Tower of Terror and we go in the little room for the video. Video ends and the next door opens. The cast member proudly announces in the cutest, flutershly-esque voice, “Your dooms await you!”

It was so adorable and it inspired this scene (it’s a first draft. Please don’t judge. I just wrote it in line for Rise of the Resistance).

Insert: when they winged zombies overtake the ship and they reach port a happy sunshiny character:

“Your doom awaits you!” she said cheerfully.

The despondent captives stared at her horrified and confused.

“That’s not a good thing!” a man in the back piped up.

“Oh don’t worry! We’ll bring you right back!”

“This is the sacrifice group,” *name whispered.

“Oh! Never mind! You’re all gonna die.” She cheerfully skipped to the next group. “Your dooms await you!”

“Why would you say that?” someone screamed.

“Well we’re going sacrifice that group to bring you back!” She said cheerfully.

*name* groaned and closed the door, locking it.

Had a dream about my characters

I had a dream about Quinn, Edmund, and Marie last night. It was so strange. They were children, and Quinn and Edmund had an uncle who was a vampire. The uncle kidnapped them and took them to Nox Haven. They were all in this boat, and Quinn was reassuring them. It was weird.

Not enough books explore friendship the way they explore romance.

I’m not talking about sidekick banter or “bros before—” whatever. I mean real, gut-deep friendships that change people.

In my series, Quinn and Lucas have that kind of friendship.

They’ve fought together. Bled together. Screamed at each other. Saved each other. Stayed when it would’ve been easier to leave.

There’s no romance between them—but the love is still fierce. Platonic bonds deserve space on the throne too. More stories should honor that.
