Cardigan,betty and august are the 3 songs taylor talked about being a love triangle. In the end of cardigan she says "you tried to change the ending peter losing wendy". Maybe whatever they had after that was shortlived. And the next EXILE song was from both betty and james' pov when they saw each other after a long time. Because of the line "i think i've seen this film before but i didn't like the ending." Both of them are reminiscing their time and mistakes together.

A theory: Cardigan music video is Taylor's whole life. She start a normal life playing her music alone, then she gets a golden apportunity. She gets into it without any experience and starts to get comfortable in her country music but something's missing so she took another step and shifted to pop music but after some time everything went sideways(post 1989 crap) and she started drowning.. at that time she wasn't okay and held onto her music (created reputation). After that she came back, back to being normal and being in love. And when she did come back joe was with her and gave her the warmth she needed in her life.

I just want to say, Taylor I and every swiftie loves u more than their life. And just please keep creating what you love.
