🌿 Welcome to A Corner of Rivendell!🌿
I’m Bucky, your mod, creator of events and community highlights!
Creator of Fluff Week 2025, Cozy Cuddles Week 2025, Spice Week 2025 and more!
The air is crisp, the leaves are golden, and somewhere in the Shire a hobbit is pulling a fresh pumpkin pie out of the oven (probably to “test it” before the feast). That can only mean one thing, our corner of Middle-earth is about to dive headfirst into Fall Festivities!🎃
I'm planning a week (or so, maybe 2) of fall-themed prompts, fic, and art fun across The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and The Rings of Power!! Think golden harvest vibes, cozy Shire kitchens, elves crunching dramatically through leaf piles, dwarves hoarding pumpkin spice like dragon gold, and men of Gondor finally admitting sweaters are superior to armor (at least for October).
🍁 What I've got cooking:
Fall Fest Week → prompts for fic, art, moodboards, memes—you name it! All the cozy, harvest, cider-mug-in-hand, wind-in-your-hair vibes.
Spooky Middle-earth → Halloween extras! From trick-or-treating hobbits to ghost stories in Minas Tirith, to Sauron pretending he invented costumes.
Community interaction: reblog games, silly polls, maybe even digital “festival booths” to hop between.
I don’t have set dates yet (it’s already September 19th, time flies faster than Shadowfax 🐎), but I'm aiming for a fun stretch in October that mixes cozy fall with spooky-season mischief. Hell, maybe we could stretch it into a November for a bit, before the Christmas period starts!
👉 This is an interest check to see who’d like to jump in! Writers, artists, gif-makers, playlist wizards, everyone is welcome to participate!!!
Would you be interested in Fall & Halloween LOTR Events?
YES PLEASE!
Not my cup of psl but good luck!

Bring your cloaks, your second breakfasts, and your best fall vibes, because Middle-earth looks especially magical in shades of gold and orange!!✨🍂

It's been a while (last post was september 2025- we're in JUNE 2026) since I've posted here regularly, and even longer since I've organized any events. Since then, a few peeps have checked in over the past months, I figured it was probably time for a small update!
First of all, let us get it out of the way already: Rivendell Watch is not being deleted!❤️
The blog is still here. I'm still here. I haven't vanished into the West (although some days it was tempting).
The truth is that a lot of things happened, both in fandom and in my personal life, and somewhere along the way I found myself stepping back from a lot of online spaces.
Part of that was burnout. Part of it was watching fandom become increasingly exhausting. Part of it was simply realizing that my interests, energy levels, and relationship with fandom had changed.
I think we sometimes forget that it's normal for interests to shift over time. Sometimes you're posting every day, writing thousands of words, running events, making graphics, and talking about your favorite characters constantly.
And sometimes you're not.
Sometimes you need distance. Sometimes life gets busy. Sometimes the thing that brought you joy starts feeling like work. Sometimes you look at your drafts and think, "I'll come back to this later."
... Then six months or more disappear.
I know I've spoken before about some of the reasons I stepped back from the wider fandom atmosphere on my main acc, on multiple occasions. That awful feeling that fandom spaces increasingly expected conflict rather than creativity.
It became difficult to remember that fandom is supposed to be fun.
After a while, I realized I was spending more energy navigating negativity and being paranoid than actually creating things. So I stepped away. Not because I stopped loving Tolkien, or because I suddenly hated fandom and definitely not because of any single person.
I just needed space.
These past few weeks I'm in a weird in-between place where I still have ideas, but I don't quite know what I want Rivendell Watch to be moving forward.
Maybe it stays what it originally was: a Tolkien-focused community space for LOTR, The Hobbit, and Rings of Power. Maybe I eventually return to hosting prompts, exchanges, seasonal events, and fandom activities?
Maybe it becomes a broader fandom-events account instead of being tied to one fandom?
Maybe it turns into a place for creative challenges, writing weeks, art prompts, and community projects across multiple fandoms?
Maybe it becomes a corner for celebrating fan creativity in general?
Maybe it becomes something else entirely?...
Honestly? I don't know yet. I genuinely do not have an immediate answer, and that has not happened in a while.
For now, I'm just letting myself think, create when inspiration strikes, and figure out what sounds fun again. Because if I've learned anything over the last few years, it's that hobbies should not feel like obligations.
To everyone still creating, whether you're writing fics, drawing art, making GIFs, creating playlists, posting metas, running events, or simply enjoying your favorite characters: Thank you!
The people who continue creating despite all the noise are the reason fandom spaces remain worth returning to.
I don't know exactly what comes next for Rivendell Watch, but I do know this isn't goodbye.
If you peeps genuinely have ideas or anything, please feel free to let me know! Asks are open, comments and dms as well!
(aka: we made it... and I might be about to sleep for a week straight)
Hello my dear sweet summer children of Elrond Week!!! I’m coming to you fashionably (unintentionally) late with the closing words for this lovely event, because well- Life really said: "You know what would make this more Elrond-coded? Physical exhaustion, emotional depth, and external threats from the wild!!!!"
So: I got sick (not going into details because you don't wanna hear it, trust me), properly burnt out (pun both not intended and yet… eerily fitting), and we had fires less than 45 minutes from my home-yes, real ones, not metaphorical ones this time! We’re safe, thankfully we got storms and rain after, but between all that, my body and brain pulled the emergency brakes and said: "Bucky, sit the fuck down. Now."
So — apologies for the quiet finish. But even if I wasn’t chirping about it online 24/7 like usual, I saw your entries. I felt them. I adored the art, the fic, the sweet takes, the melancholic moments, the fluff, the lore: the way you all held Elrond so gently in your palms and made magic. You understood the assignment beautifully, and I want to thank you all from the bottom of my crispy, fire-surviving little heart!!!!💚
Now for some real talk:
This was my fourth event in a row — Fluff Week, Cuddle Week, Spice Week, and now Elrond Week — all solo-organized, while juggling school (BESTIES I RANKED 57TH OUT OF 260 PEOPLE IN MY PROMO LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOO I'm going on year 2 BABYYYYYY), work, life, and the emotional chaos that comes with community wrangling. And while I have no regrets (truly, these events brought me SO much joy and introduced me to so many of you!!!!!🥹), I am also... cooked. Burnt. Toast. Extra crispy lembas.
Tis me rn, XD :
So as much as it pains me to say this ( because organizing things gives me feral little goblin joy) I’ll be taking a break from events organization until fall 🍂 (yes, that means Fair Fall and the general fandom event will still happen later this year, don’t worry!)
For now, I just want to draw a little, write a little, actually catch up on y’all’s beautiful works (like a gremlin in a blanket fort), and maybe go touch some grass. Have a laugh. Breathe a bit. Eat a peach (cobbler). Iykyk, moots from the server XD.
So this isn’t goodbye — just a pause, pinkie promise!!! Thank you all for your boundless kindness, your enthusiasm, your brilliance, and for making these past months so full of creativity and community!!!
You made something soft, smart, and so very Elrond. I couldn’t be more proud!!!!!
Take care of yourselves, and I’ll see you in the golden autumn light!!!
With all my love,
Bucky
Something lay rotten inside of Elrond. He felt it, surging through his veins, wrapping ivy-like around his bones. It made him feel drunk, and not the kind of drunk that left him flushed with the air of life and grand feeling of overall more-ness. No, it was a self-soothing burn, slipping down and radiating in his chest–thumping and thumping, until he was forced to abandon all thought for a Carcharoth-rivalling madness.
Rot had no place in Valinor, Elrond thought. So why is it in me?
---
a little something for Elrond Week!!! @rivendellwatch thank you for organizing <3
It’s Morgoth into the Void Day, which everyone in Middle Earth — even Sauron — celebrates. Elrond invites his Maia and Noldor family for dinner, to celebrate Morgoth into the Void Day. The place: Imladris. The time: the Second Age, sometime after the destruction of Eregion and Númenor but before the battle of the Last Alliance.

Gil-galad's ears perked up at the little voice that suddenly rung out from behind him. Bewildered, he turned, his eyes finding the person it belonged to.
On the stone steps before the tree line bowed little Arwen. His eyebrows rose above his dark eyes as he perceived her, so small among the trees that stood so tall.
"Arwen?" he is voice was full of concern.
"What are you doing here?" he looked around, stared through the tree trunks as he expected to find Celebrian near, but found no one. Slowly he stepped closer, stopping right in front of her.
She raised her blue eyes up at him, but she did not respond. Her burn orange dress danced in the gentle breeze that blew upon the cliff. For in the moment, she was very timid. Many times had she seen the King, often when her father carried her in his arms, from faraway. And many things had she heard about him from both her mother and father. How he was the noblest among their people, tallest and strongest.
There he stood now before her, as tall as a mountain.
"You walked here all alone?"
"Yes." she answered him.
"Where are your brothers?"
"Practicing." her eyes lowered, as at the mention of her brothers being occupied otherwise.
Gil-galad felt his brows furrow. A beat of silence passed between them, when he decided to lower himself onto his knees to question her further. When she saw the king, who had stood so still all the while he'd spoken to her suddenly move, seeing his face, which had been so high and faraway inch closer, she took a step back. Then his eyes noticed the cloth she held in her little arms. Something was wrapped in it.
"What are you holding there?"
"Sweet bread. I baked it with Emmë. For Atto."
"...I see." he said, fighting a smile that suddenly tugged at his lips.
"Is Ada here with you?"
"No dear," Gil-galad gently shook his head no, then turned to look back at the High Tree. "he is not here."
At his words, she felt overcome with sadness. She had walked all this way to run into her father's arms and watch as he took the first bite off the first load of bread she had made.
"Do you know where he is?" she asked, the excitement in her voice bruised.
The King looked into her eyes, nodding, and Arwen watched his serious eyes grow kind and soft as he smiled.
"... I do."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"How did you know my name?" she asked as she walked beside him.
Gil-galad first did not immediately react. He stared ahead as they walked, letting a moment of silence pass, before he glanced at her out the corner of his eye.
"Because I am the King. I know everything."
"Really?"
"Yes."
She stared up at him in awe. "Do you also know my mother?"
"Yes," he said again, "It is I who married your father and mother."
Arwen remembered her father telling her about their wedding, and how it had been long before she was born. She deduced then, that the king was quite old.
"How did you know the way here?" it was his turn to ask a question.
"Emmë told me."
"And you remembered it?"
"Yes, I did." he could hear the sudden pride in her small voice. And though he did not smile, he was amused by it.
Arwen looked up at him once more, letting her eyes linger on him a long while, before she spoke again.
"Do you also have children?" she asked him.
"...No, I have none." Gil-galad responded, his amusement slowly breaking through his serious surface.
"Then you don't have a family?"
Their eyes met, and she watched a strand of his dark hair swing in the wind.
"... I have a father. He lives not far from here."
"Is your father also King?"
"No," he breathed, "He builds ships in the Haven."
"Ships." Arwen searched her mind, "Like the ones who sail to Valinor?"
"Yes."
Though he walked slowly, he noticed how many of her steps it took to keep up with him.
"Have you not tired from carrying the loaf of bread and walking for so long?" he stopped, and she did, too.
"... yes," she admitted after a beat, timidly lowering her eyes and clamming onto the wrapped bread in her arms.
The two looked at each other.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The leaves that covered the ground seemed small from that high. Her head rested atop her hand, and her hand upon his shoulder.
She wondered if birds felt the same when they rested in the arms of trees.
Gil-galad never liked to think about children, the possibility of one day having his own. It sometimes seemed a thought too painful to harbour. It was why he never sought any proximity with them. Most, too, seemed too scared of him. Always clasping onto the garments of their mothers and fathers as they observed him.
He thought interacting with them would be uncomfortable at the least, irritating at most. Arwen was not as he'd expected a child as young as her to be. She was as calm as he remembered her being when he'd held her at her birth. Just the way Elrond was. He felt his eyes on her as he carried her.
Arwen stole glances at him, new questions she wanted to ask him coming together in her mind. But every time she let them drift away, for she relaxed into the softness of his midnight blue garment.
Their pleasant texture almost made her drift into sleep .
She felt safe.
She barely noticed as they began to pass people on exiting the woods, though Gil-galad felt every pair of curious eyes on him as he walked among the people. He ignored them as best as he could, ignored their timid and moved smiles, too.
How lucky to be carried by the king, many thought looking on, wondering who the child in his arms was. Arwen only lifted her head from her shoulder as he began to climb the stairs of the east tower, where Elrond's study was.
He felt her hand grasp his collar as she straightened, then looked at him.
"We're almost there," he said under his breath.
She turned her head of dark locks up at the door she saw far up at the end of the stairs, waiting for them.
Two servants greeted them as they walked the hall, and stared on in amusement and endearment as Arwen waved at them.
"Here we are." her ears perked up at his words. He slowly lowered her onto the ground. She adjusted the cloth he'd tied across her shoulder like a pouch, as to carry her easier. She looked up him with her blue eyes, already missing him.
"Your father's study is right there, you see?"
She turned to follow where he pointed to.
"Okay." she mumbled, before she addressed him anew. "Can I give you something, Ingaran? "
The king's brows creased with curiosity and suspiciousness. He hesitated a moment, before he agreed.
"Yes."
Arwen reached into her pouch, only for her hands to resurface with a loaf of sweet bread and an apple.
He knelt down in front of her and accepted her small gifts of gratitude.
"Emmë says you have to eat the bread first, and then the apple."
Amused, he bowed before her. "I will do so." he promised.
"Go see your father, " he rose up again, guiding her on with his eyes. "I am sure he awaits you."
Elrond was entranced in a book when he heard a dear voice call his name.
"Ada!"
His heart skipped a beat as he turned in his chair.
"Arwen?"
Before he knew, she skipped into his arms, her little arms stretched out as far as they could. He laughed out loud as she crashed into him.
"From where have you come??" he asked, planting a kiss atop her head.
"From home!" she beamed, hugging him tightly.
"Who walked you here?"
"...A friend."
Elrond raised his brow at his daughter's sudden mysteriousness.
"And what do you have there?" the Herald in turn burned with curiosity.
"Sweetbread from emmë and me!"
"You baked it?" his grey eyes twinkled with pride.
She nodded. "And also apples."
"Ah, hininya," Elrond sat her into his lap, "You came at the right moment. I had grown tired of reading for so long!"
"Now we can eat together."
Characters: Ereinion Gil-galad, Arwen & Elrond
Premise: Arwen journeys to the High Tree to surprise her father with freshly baked sweet bread, but he is not there.
Someone else is who she finds.
I wrote this on a whim this morning because it crossed my mind and it was just too cute to let go.
(I was napping with my windows open while it was raining outside the other day and this idea quite literally came to me in a dream and then proceeded to consume me so much I went and bought some art supplies and made it. This is like my first time painting with gouache and also first fanart ever and i'm not like,,, an artist or anything and i barely draw so be gentle lmao)
@rivendellwatch This one was a couple hours early but considering my utter un-productivity this week I humbly ask for its acceptance for elrond week...
IT'S DONE. THE CHAPTER FROM HELL IS DONE. OH MY GOD WHY IS WRITING SMUT SO HARD.
So I've decided that I wAS going to finish the chapter tonight or die trying lol. This chapter is dedicated to @elvendreamsfics without whom I'd probably still be stuck in writing hell. Have at it:
ALSO?!! Bonus chapter for a double update because I am feeling extra kind :) And also let's pretend the update took so long because it's two chapters' worth. Lol.
Okay so I've been trying to finish another fic for @rivendellwatch's Elrond Week but the week happened to coincide with my worst work week since like, February🥲🥲🥲 So alas wasn't meant to be. Instead I've been sitting on this chapter of Bound By Duty for a month now and I've finally decided to stop hoarding shit lol
@rivendellwatch for Elrond week, as a treat, have a (supposedly, nothing shows) naked Elrond I did to go along with the bound by duty fanfic by @a-sweet-potato-63 .
He's looking at his dwarven husband, waiting for him to... do whatever you'd like to imagine.
@rivendellwatch for elrond week I made a regular colored elrond with long hair inspied by Rob Aramayo and his cute lopsided smile and I played with the filters so I decided he looks best and 💫 magical 💫 like this
🌿✨ Day 6 of Elrond Week – The Chaos Elrond Would Understand ✨🌿
(aka: hi yes I’ve been gone, and here’s why 🫠)
Hello darlings!! I know, I know!!! I missed the last couple of days 😭 Please don’t send the eagles after me just yet! Life pulled a full Second Age avalanche on me. Between real-world things, sudden plans, and my Wi-Fi deciding to roleplay as a Palantír full of static, it’s been a little hectic.
Also, I live in a region where there are sadly fires going on right now, we’re safe, but it has impacted the internet and general energy. So if I’ve been slow, that’s why! 💛
That said: I’m catching up on Elrond Week now!! And I’m already in tears at how lovely your entries have been, the softness, the lore love, the emotional devastation, the fluff?? Y’ALL GET HIM. Like truly. It’s so heartwarming to see.
I promise I’ll be reblogging, queueing, and crying about your works today and through the end of the week 💚 This event is a bit more chill than Spice Week (bless), so we’re embracing the gentle flow of Elrondian vibes, even if we trip on a few elvish rugs along the way.
Thank you for your patience, your kindness, and for keeping the love going even when my signal was literally out hunting orcs. 💫
Sending hugs, lembas, and good connection energy,
Bucky 🌿✨
🌿✨ DAY 3 OF ELROND WEEK – I HAVE EMERGED FROM THE WOODS ✨🌿
Hello people!!! Yes, I know I didn’t post yesterday. That’s because I am a mortal woman with many quests — mostly involving summer heat, social obligations, and forgetting what day it is. BUT I AM HERE NOW.
Elrond Week continues, and so does our sacred duty to over-analyze, love, sob over, and thirst respectfully (or not) for the overworked loremaster of our hearts!!!!💚📜☕️
This is your friendly reminder that:
The AO3 collection is still open and moderated!
Smut is allowed, just tag it like an adult, I beg you (I'm still trying to reach out to tumblr support cause the blog is still flagged as "mature" because peeps didn't tag properly ;-;)
Elrond must be the core of your piece — he is the main dish, not a side salad
And as always: NO bullying, NO drama. We are here to cry, vibe, and possibly imagine him in a beach cardigan
Anyway, I love you all. Let’s keep the soft sadness, fluff, canon tears, AUs, and fanon chaos rolling. As Kind as Summer continues! 🫶🌿
I couldn’t have asked for a more fitting start date. France is in full revolution mode, and here I am, declaring emotional softness and ancient elf wisdom for all. Liberté, égalité, long-suffering gentle Elrond supremacy!
This event is a little more chill than Spice Week (no pun intended, but also yes), so I’ll be sipping iced tea and quietly vibing in the background while you all do your thing (IF YOU WANT TO)💚 But don’t worry— I’ll still be reblogging, shouting, and crying softly about your work like a true summer elf lord enjoyer, especially since I'm not as booked as I was during Spice Week!
AO3 Collection:
Yes, it’s open and moderated, you can find it here! You can add your works anytime during the week. Just make sure you tag your pieces correctly — especially if it’s spicy, I beg you. Smut is 1000% allowed, just don’t leave me doing damage control because you forgot the “explicit” rating, okay? 😭
That goes for Tumblr tags too: please label clearly adult content on any +18 posts you share! Think of the children (me) and the fact that basically anyone reblogging something not tagged properly could be flagged as "mature" and shadowban their blog. That's literally what's happening here on Rivendellwatch :')
Banners will be posted tomorrow!! Promise!!
📝 Elrond Week – Rules & Guidelines! 🌿
• No bullying or harassment. Don’t bring fandom drama here — we’re just trying to vibe with a tired elf and his emotional depth.
• No drama dragging. This is a chill zone. Keep it cozy, not chaotic.
• Your work must have Elrond as the core theme. He can be paired with someone, be solo, be in the background crying in a library — whatever — but he’s gotta be the heart of it.
• Smut is allowed, but please tag clearly and correctly on both AO3 and Tumblr. We love spice, we also love informed consent 😌
• Any rating, pairing, or genre welcome — fluff, angst, gen, romantic, lore-heavy, modern AUs — go wild, as long as Elrond is the main dish.
Tag it, post it, love it 💚 Let's keep things kind as summer!
Here’s to Elrond, to softness, to Bastille Day, and to all of you for showing up with your hearts and words. Let's make this week the coziest nerd revolution ever!!!💕
