mit großer Sorge höre ich von den Plänen des Koalitionsausschusses, das Informationsfreiheitsgesetz de facto abzuschaffen. Aktuell ermöglicht das IFG allen Menschen, Einblick in staatliche Dokumente zu bekommen und damit das Handeln von Behörden und der Regierung zu kontrollieren.

Im Koalitionsvertrag haben Sie gemeinsam mit der Union vereinbart, das IFG im Sinne der Bürger*innen zu reformieren. Der jetzige Beschluss des Koalitionsausschusses ist das genaue Gegenteil: SPD und Union planen einen massiven Bruch des Koalitionsvertrags – und den größten Angriff auf staatliche Transparenz in der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik. Die vorgeschlagenen Änderungen würden der Informationsfreiheit in Deutschland de facto ein Ende setzen. 

Anfragen wären nur noch nach Nachweis eines „berechtigten Interesses“ und nur für Privatpersonen möglich – und damit fast nie. Außerdem könnten Anfragen künftig zehntausende Euro kosten. Zivilgesellschaftliche Organisationen oder Pressevertreter dürften offenbar keine Anfragen mehr stellen, ebenso wenig Menschen ohne deutsche Staatsbürgerschaft oder Unionsbürgerschaft. Behörden könnten Anträge über weitere Bereichsausnahmen noch leichter ablehnen, Namen von allen Behördenmitarbeiter*innen – auch in leitenden Funktionen – sollen konsequent geschwärzt werden. 

Mithilfe des IFG konnten in den vergangenen zwanzig Jahren zahlreiche Skandale und Missstände aufgedeckt werden. Es ist das wichtigste Transparenz-Werkzeug für Bürger*innen und gewährleistet die öffentliche Kontrolle von Politik, Behörden und Verwaltung. In Zeiten, in denen das Vertrauen in Politik und Staat ohnehin schon sinkt, eben jenes Gesetz auszuhöhlen, sendet ein katastrophales Signal an die Bevölkerung und würde zu einem weiteren Vertrauensverlust führen.

Nun ist es an Ihnen, diese Pläne zu stoppen. Als Mitglieder des Innenausschusses müssen Sie das IFG unser aller Recht auf Informationsfreiheit gegen diesen Frontalangriff verteidigen.
