“Harry,” Ron mumbled between kisses, “We need to talk.”

“I don’t want to talk,” Harry growled as he fell backward onto the bed, pulling Ron down on top of him.

I want you to know, I listened to Hozier's like real people do and Evermore by Taylor swift while writing this.

Harry flicks the light switch on, plunging the kitchen into warm light. Behind him, Ron snickers at something Hermione said.

“Shh,” Harry scolds them, “You’ll wake my dads.” But a smile unwillingly makes its way onto his face at the sight of his boyfriend shoving the last bit of popcorn into his mouth.

“Sorry Harry,” Hermione whispers in apology. “I should get going, my mum’ll be worried.”

“You can always crash here, Mione, you know they don’t mind,” Ron hops up on the counter and pulls Harry back so he can rest his chin on his shoulder.

Herminone shakes her head, “no it’s alright, I’ve got to be up early anyways.”

“Suit yourself,” Harry shrugs.

Hermione leaves, and Harry turns around to face Ron. “Guess it’s just you and me,” he raises his brow suggestively, but a cough from the stairway nearly makes him jump out of his skin. “How was the movie,” both boys turn and see Regulus leaning against the stair post nonchalantly.

“Good,” they say in unison.

Regulus chuckles, “I’m off to bed, you staying over Ron?” Ron nods. “Right then, behave yourselves you two,” Regulus sighs, pulling a juice box out of the fridge before heading back up the stairs.

As soon as Regulus’ steps fade, both boys burst out laughing. Harry rests his head against Rons chest.

“Bloody hell, he terrifies me,” Ron groans.

Harry punches his shoulder lightly, “ah, he’s a softie. I can tell he approves of you.”

“Really, I mean–not that I care, but y’know, it’s good to…know.” Harry laughs at Ron's fumbling, but it quickly turns into a yawn. “Alright then, off to sleep with you,” Ron hops off the counter and leads the other boy upstairs.

Harry falls on the bed immediately, only pausing to take his glasses off.

“Tired are ya?” Ron jokes, turning on the lamp and flicking off the overhead light.

“M’sleepy,” he mumbles.

Ron must leave to get ready for bed, because it feels like some time has passed when he slips into bed next to Harry. When he pulls him closer, like muscle memory, Harry wraps his arms around Rons torso.

“Bloody Koala, even when you’re asleep,” Ron murmurs sweetly, carding his hand softly through Harry’s hair. The sensation so comforting it lulls him gently into sleep.

I’m re-reading the Harry Potter books and it’s funny how much Harry and Hermione are vying for Ron’s attention (in contrast with the movies). Don’t get me wrong. Harry and Hermione are best friends too. But it’s obvious that Ron is their favourite.
