i love her
In an ancient forest, shallow pools reflect not the trees above, but a luminous city of elsewhere.
it’s so magical and beautiful that there are sprawling interconnected cave systems carved deep into the earth by various geological forces and you don’t have to go in them. there are miles and miles of stone passageways in total darkness that require you to exhale all the air out of your lungs to squeeze through parts of them and you don’t have to be there. some of these squeezes are underwater and require cave divers to take off their oxygen tanks and push them through ahead of them and me i am above ground looking at the sky as we speak. there are untold subterranean wonders no human has ever seen and i will not be the one to discover them #grateful #blessed
so true there could be any number of undiscovered species down there all of which are none of my business and never will be. peace and love on (the surface of) planet earth 💕

why does it take SO much energy to keep your house only sort of clean
Hi! I have an answer to this!
Your brain is focusing on the work you need to do and it has lost sight of the pleasure of having a clean and tidy space. That means that no matter how much work you do, the only result you feel is, 'that sucked, and it will suck again when I inevitably have to do it again in the future'. So you procrastinate this task that brings you no pleasure and it becomes even worse and more overwhelming the next time you have to do it
YOU CAN BREAK THIS CYCLE. Set a timer for 10 minutes. Pick a small and easily completeable task, like cleaning off one surface, picking things off the floor of one room, emptying the dishwasher, or emptying the sink of dirty dishes into the dishwasher. It needs to be something that takes very little brainpower. If you don't have anything that isn't totally overwhelming, dump your dirty laundry basket on the floor to pick back up as a practical exercise.
For this example, we're going to say emptying the dishwasher. Every time you put a dish away, stop and think to yourself, 'wow, so clean, so tidy.' I don't care if they go straight into the drying rack or in a pile on the counter or in a messy stack in the cupboard. So clean. So tidy. Do this until your timer goes off. At the end, I don't care if you finished. STOP CLEANING. Look at your work one final time and consider how much better it looks.
This reprograms your brain to feel pleasure from cleaning, and stops you from overworking and creating a trauma loop. If you do this every day for a week, you will see results. Even if you're doing hard, overtaxing cleaning alongside this, taking time to restimulate your brain to associate cleaning with pleasure and satisfaction will pay dividends. Once it starts feeling better to do, you can work in the same bite-sized chunks on doing these small tasks more regularly. My current one for example is immediately drying off knives I've washed and putting them away instead of letting them dry in the rack (better for keeping a sharp edge allegedly). I use this method for all the cleaning I struggle to accomplish and it really makes a difference.
