can you recommend some hip hop and rap for us blorbo picturers? frankly im just not exposed to it enough but i always enjoy what i listen to
despite its brevity that first sentence is genuinely such a rich text. genuinely fascinating implications of rap and hip hop being framed as specifically outside of the bounds of the "blorbo picturers," a phrase presumably meant to encapsulate what the asker considers to be the "typical" fandom blogger and with which they explicitly identify themself (note "us blorbo picturers"). the presumption that normative participation in fandom precludes knowledge of and familiarity with rap is, to say the least, a loaded one, which bears out years of formal and anecdotal analysis by nerds of color (NOC, if you will) that construct fandom as a space that treats whiteness as default and is thus often alienating if not outright outright hostile to NOC. in this essay I will
fresh, clean no-terf version for reblogs!
Your mom and aunts aren’t on tumblr. Please warn them about this as well.
Thank you! I’ve been looking for the TERF-free version of this.
Hey! I’m the age of some of your moms and aunts and the OG version of this post helped me catch my cancer in 2023. I had a hysterectomy at the beginning of 2024 and I’ve been cancer-free since then. If I hadn’t read this information, I wouldn’t have reported bleeding to the next doctor I saw. I might have died, and I probably would have had to undergo chemo and/or radiation, both of which I avoided.
Keep the reblogs going to save a life!
if you've been hearing less about gaza lately, it's because most of the journalists are dead. hassan eslayeh, who was murdered yesterday in his hospital bed by israel, had 351 videos archived on tiktokgenocide.com (an online archive of israeli atrocities i recommend you browse). this single journalist alone had contributed 351 videos. the same database lists that 252 journalists have been killed in gaza since october 7th. the cpj's archive of journalists killed is 178. they have a more conservative and less accurate estimate since they have less information on those media workers who work with local outlets.
regardless of the exact number, the number of journalists killed is so high that it is markedly affecting the footage and documentation we have coming out of gaza now. let me prove it to you: 70 people were killed today, May 14th 2025. did you know that?
77 was yesterday's final toll, and already over 54 killed today, most of them women and children (not that it matters). six families in khan younes entirely erased, from the babies to the grandparents. no breaking news alerts from western outlets, no ticker on CNN, no comment from any news anchors. the only people doing that job right now it seems are american college students getting their diplomas withheld for mentioning palestine in their graduation speeches
current toll stands at over 250 dead in the past 36 hours
this is a wild ask I'm about to send but, are you the same person who wrote Fear of god back in 2012? it was living rent free in my head for ages and after two years I managed to find it, if you are that person, just wanted to say thank you for being such an icon and making such amazing music. If you're a different person with a similar username please disregard lol
IT IS I. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Your words are so so so so kind. I was such a little angsty thing 13 years ago with nowhere to put my depression and im so happy you found joy in my hyperfixation and rage.
I don’t reaaaaaally make music anymore but I do still have a SoundCloud and bandcamp under saintdoriangray that I never deleted lol.
Thank you for the message and for taking the time to find me!
Fun fact, I stopped watching spn around s7/8 but when Te Amo came along during lockdown, I’d just moved to a new country with my partner. He didn’t want to watch with me (which, fair), so I bought a bottle of jack to binge superhell through the finale.
I made it halfway through the bottle to the Beatific Smile and almost threw up all over our new bedroom floor. My (now husband) later found me face down in bed half sleeping half sobbing.
10/10 experience. Will never do it again.
Apparently the US have been detaining European greencard holders, upon their return to the US after travels. Some have been deported to their countries of origin, some are held in prison in the US. A French man has been rejected entrance into the country over him having messages on his phone criticial of Trump, he was sent back to France after overnight detention. A German woman with a tourist visa was equally rejected and send back after overnight detention without access to her medication.
As of yesterday Denmark, the United Kingdom, Germany, Finland and Canada have revised their travel guidelines for the US. This includes warnings over being denied entry despite a visa, detention and the US no longer recognizing the X gender marker in passports.

For the first time, the UN has advised all staff in New York to carry their UN IDs and copies of passports and visas at all times in case of being stopped by authorities. This precaution is due to increased scrutiny by U.S. immigration authorities under the trump administration, even affecting those with legal residence status.
Abolish Tesla.
Elon uses his overvalued Tesla stock as collateral for all his loans.
If the stock price crashes, banks will ask for their money back.
The Twitter deal alone would break him - twitter has tanked in value, he couldn't sell it to pay off his loans.
Please, oh please. Not just well deserved karma, it would be so fucking funny.

sick post i just found online. sorry i couldnt find the source
if this gets more notes than the memedaddy repost it would be really funny actually
There's some program preinstalled on my phone that I can't remove and its whole job appears to be telling me if my phone usage is greater or lesser this week than last week. The fucking cheek. How dare you judge me. You're a glorified mp3 player that one (1) friend occasionally texts me on. Your job is to play filk music and be ready to call an ambulance if I remove a thumb cutting floor tiles. "You've used your phone 3 minutes less this week!" did I give you permission to speak to me.
I'm going to add to this with advice for any teacher running into this situation.
Ask to borrow the kid's computer for a second, and use the AI. Pick a word, then pick a letter that is not in that word. Ask chatGPT how many times that letter appears in said word. (Avoid "how many Ns in Mayonnaise" because that went viral and got trained out.) Hell, give ChatGPT multiple tries. Ask it to demonstrate each time that letter appears in a word.
Let the entire class witness chatGPT fail. Because it cannot count. It cannot spell. It cannot think. Please put your lesson plans aside for a class and use it as a learning opportunity.
To add to your arsenal for educating these kids, please look into the concept of AI hallucination. AI cannot perceive things and has no ability to think critically, which means it cannot tell what's real and what's not. Really drill into these kids that they are better off asking advice from a toddler.
I used the characterAI bot instead of chatGPT in this case, but chatGPT has the same issues, because neither bot is capable of thinking about what it's saying.
Calling these things "artificial intelligence" is a core part of the problem. They are not intelligent in any sense of the word. They are less intelligent than the spell check and grammar check functions in Microsoft Word circa 2010.
Hey you know what sucks is predatory companies that make you enter your email address so that they can harass and advertise to you to access resources you might need to keep track of expenses after a disaster. So, uh, fuck them.
If you need to track the cost of things like hotel stays, pet kenneling, medical care, etc. after a disaster you can use this worksheet.
If you need to create an inventory of your home for an insurance claim (and if you'd like to do this to keep someplace safe before a disaster) you can use this worksheet (two pages, instructions on the first page, worksheet on the second).
And here's a FEMA document with numbers for disaster relief groups and a checklist of documents that you may need to have replaced as well as a description of what to do if you had cash in your home that was destroyed and can possibly be replaced.
Bringing this back because there are a ton of people who are going to need it. A lot of stupid bullshit disaster recovery companies will be reaching out to people whose homes burned down. A lot of people whose homes burned down will be searching for resources that come from websites that require them to give up personal details in order to get worksheets and tools.
These are free documents you can download to keep track of disaster recovery expenses or make a list for insurance claims.
I know people are exhausted and frightened and not thinking about stuff but start a folder in your email for receipts for things you're paying for right now so that you can fill out these forms later.
Don't enter your info on a random website or you're going to start getting calls from scammy companies.
And here's a story from the LA Times with advice for people who lost homes or businesses during the fire; one of the primary pieces of advice is DON'T RUSH. Take your time to make decisions and look over any paperwork that anyone wants you to sign.
If you need to send people a link to these documents that isn't a tumblr post they're collected here on my website with links to archive.org instead of gdocs.
Autistic Advice #9
In a piece for The New Inquiry from back in 2017, George Dust states that when queer people complain about there being a top shortage, what they really mean is “nobody is fucking me the way I want, and I have no agency in that.” Alongside co-authors Billy-Ray Belcourt and Kay Gabriel, Dust suggests that many queer people align themselves with a passive or “bottom” position because they believe that role will absolve them of the guilt of really wanting things. They present themselves as what they believe to be the sexual party with zero power; the receiver, the accepter of action rather than its cause.
This position is drawn in contrast to the bottom-identified person’s idea of a top: the one who approaches, the person with hungers and desires, the person who decides which sexual activities will happen and how intense they will get. The top, from this perspective, is the stronger, more capable, more dangerous person. They’re the only one who can ever be guilty of intruding or harming somebody else. This power is scary, but it’s also compelling.
Dust calls this fantastical version of a top a “brute” — and they are the most cartoonish stereotype of what it means in society to be a man. Because it’s a cartoonish stereotype, no human actually lives up to it — and we’d probably revile a person even if they could.
Though queer people know we are harmed by the gender binary and heteronormativity and all the social scripts those things force upon us, its biases are still embossed on our brains. Without meaning to, we reproduce tired gender stereotypes in our relationships. And so we see expressing a sexual want as masculine, and being masculine as being more capable of violence and coercive control, and thus bad. We see failing to communicate one’s desires openly as desirably feminine, as well as a sign of blamelessness and purity — because on some level we still feel it is wrong to have desires.
But this entire worldview is a complete lie. Desire is not evil. Expressing attraction is not a violation. Failing to express oneself can be just as dangerous as not listening to someone else’s limits. Women can be abusive. Bottoms can sexually assault. No matter our gender, presentation, or sexual role, we are each capable of harm. And the only way to make a safe, mutually pleasurable sexual encounter happen is by going after it, actively, and communicating from a position of inner strength.
So how do you do that, if society’s been telling you all your life that you’re meant to date by acting like a deer passively snapping twigs in the woods, waiting for some hunter to hear you, and pursue you? (That really is dating advice that Evangelical Christian counselors give to women, if you can believe it).
By not fixating so much on what you’re doing or not doing to draw other people toward you, and instead thinking in terms of what you want and what you observe beyond yourself.
thanks for these additions !
#ooooh boy. yeah..#i definitely was like this whne i was first coming out. this is really good writing#it's hard to unlearn. it's hard to change. but havigg that agency is so so important#for yourself. for not making your partner do all the emotional work#for owning your sexuality/queerness without guilt#anyways. genuinely sorry to every butch/masc i had a crush on when i was a baby gay. hope y'all are doing well
Love when people add these. Thanks for sharing about your growth!
Here’s the New Inquiry piece, totally worth the read.
Kay Gabriel, George Dust, and Billy-Ray Belcourt consider what queer memes of a top shortage reveal about the racialized orders of desire an
#long post#both articles are really really good#especially the second one#and everyone should read them #as a black person i'm expected to do all the heavy lifting of pursuing/flirting/initiating/fucking#and this makes it incredibly difficult for me to date#because i KNOW that#and i don't want to be in that role#i resent it#and i've come to resent dating because everyone i've dated in this area (vancouver is very very white)#has been suuuuuper passive/uncommunicative and it drove me insane#the second article uses “brutishness” and i think this encompasses the experience#of what you're expected to be while dating other queers #it's not just forwardness that's desired it's rawness they perceive as animalistic#which is extremely dehumanizing obviously!#which makes the whole experience extremely fraught#because ultimately it's all about that other person and how they feel and what they want#without them ever having to overtly express it#which allows them to wallow in passivity and sexual shame while still getting their needs met (but only partially)#(hence the whining about a top shortage) #it's part and parcel of a narcissism i've noticed in most white queers#where they position themselves at the center of the universe#they see themselves as The Most Oppressed and also The Most Desired#and they forcibly make you a part of this narrative#it's extremely insidious#it's also not just white people tbh nonblack poc are guilty of this too#but i won't even touch that rn#anyway great stuff and i need to show it to some people lmao#find later

Hey, you know that one character? The one played by the tall, long-haired actor? The one who was pre-law in 2005, and well on his way to going to law school and getting a degree until an unexpected family issue reared its head, and he dropped out and chose a different career path? Y’know, he’s got that complicated relationship with his father, a parent-child relationship with his only sibling, and has some strange, destructive abilities that tie in with multiple traumatic experiences with fire?
op is right and the timelines do match up. what if they were in the same classes
Do you think their classmates were ever like “Sam Winchester… is he the one who dropped out to get custody of his little sister with the YouTube channel?” “No, he was the one who ended up faking his death and becoming a multi-state serial killer with his brother.” “He WHAT?”
Everyone would have guessed it to be the other way around.
Spencer could have prevented the apocalypse, but Sam definitely could not have raised Carly

Story is wild
Little girl was part of a county fair agro-educational program where they raise an animal for a few months and at the end it’s slaughtered. Supposed to teach them about the economics of farming and stuff.
But the little girl loved her goat so much she was crying on the day her goat was supposed to be taken away, so her mom sent the county fair people an email saying “I’ll pay for the goat and any expenses. We’ve had several deaths in the family in the past year, I don’t wanna take away one more thing my little girl loves.” Technically the goat had already been sold at auction, so the mom was on the hook for about $1000, only about $70 of which would have been profit for the county fair.
The county fair people were irate and got law enforcement involved, over this “breach of contract”. They literally got a fucking judge to sign a search warrant, authorizing them to go to this little girl’s house and search every room and every cabinet or box “large enough to contain a small goat”. The sheriff’s deputies seized the goat, and whoever they gave it to immediately slaughtered it, though they were supposed to wait until some kind of agreement had been worked out.
In the county fair’s initial email correspondence with the girl’s mother, they made it clear that they were pissed off because the story of the little girl who loved her goat was circulating on social media making them look bad, and they felt the girl needed to be taught a lesson about keeping your promises or whatever. So they refused the mother’s offer to pay for it, and insisted they get the goat. Even if it meant sending the fucking cops into her house lmao.
https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2023-03-30/goat-slaughter-shasta-county-fair
the congressman who bought the goat didn’t have any objections to the family saving the goat from slaughter either! it’s fucking insane that the cops were so eager to play act their swat commando fantasies that they played stooge to the benefit of no one except some self important local organizers!
Alternate link, LAtimes locks their stuff behind paywalls sometimes
Don’t forget the part where the goat wasn’t where they had a warrant to search, so they drove 500 miles, leaving the area they have legal jurisdiction in, then searched a farm they didn’t have a warrant for ans seized the goat. The fair then had the goat slaughtered, even though a court had ordered them to keep it alive until ownership was resolved and despite the fact that both potential owners of the goat had decided to keep it alive.
They broke multiple laws in order to “teach” a little girl the “lesson” that “everybody has to follow the rules”.
I sure hope all of the complaints sent to Shasta District Fair CEO Melanie Silva, whose decisions these were and continues to defend her actions, are polite and don’t waste too much ink. I’m certain nobody would take advantage of the fact that the Sasha District Fair and Event Center’s contact page lists their phone and fax numbers, not to mention the email form below that.
Would be a shame if that information was to circulate far an wide, and ruin that despicable woman's easter holidays
I found the lawsuit filing. It is a work of art, brief and to the point. If you read nothing else, check out page 2, the section headed Nature of the Action. Magnificent.
One of the things that bugs me in the notes is a bunch of people being like 'it's a livestock animal, it's her fault for getting attached' and.
My dudes, I cannot emphasize enough that the little girl's emotional attachment to the goat is in fact the least of the issues with this story. The main issue in this story is the fact that a bunch of cops broke multiple laws, including the unlawful entry to the property the goat was being held, the unlawful seizure and destruction of said goat, and the unlawful use of a criminal search warrant in a civil dispute case, just to start with.
The little girl owned the goat. At no point in the proceedings - and indeed at no point in the proceedings in the course of the normal auction-purchase-slaughter of a livestock animal in this program - did the fair own the goat. At no point in the proceedings did the person who successfully bid on the goat actually own it - he had made the winning bid to purchase rights to the meat. He hadn't even done that yet! The goat legally and incontrovertibly belonged to the little girl. The very worst that should have happened in this story is a brief property ownership dispute in a civil court.
The fair CEO decided to unlawfully force the auction of the goat, and, when the girl's mother began to dispute her actions, to make a false claim of theft, with precisely ZERO legal basis, calling the cops on an already emotionally fragile child, and then had the temerity to be angry with the child's mother because the story was making them look bad on social media.
Regardless of your opinion on the meat industry, livestock slaughter, or 4H, 'cops drive 500 miles, perform an illegal search, seizure and destruction of an American citizen's property, on the word of a biased 3rd party with zero legal rights to the property in question' should make you angry. Because it is a violation of civil rights, and also had no motive besides needless cruelty to an already grieving child.
News to know: The next court update on this is sometime in October 2024. I'm watching this case because it covers a lot of different facets of how contracts work, minors rights, property rights in the face of law enforcement seizures and searches, and how does one county fair have so much brutality to wield against a then-nine-year-old. I would not be surprised if this gets bogged down again with more counter-suits. It's absolutely ghoulish that they're doing all this over less than 1000$ of goat and one little girls grief. I hope that the judge who sees this case knows just how dangerous it is to dismiss, since this is a matter of third-party property rights infringement using law enforcement agents as bludgeons. The Sheriffs *cannot* be allowed to maintain extrajudicial authority.
UPDATE:
GIRL WINS $300,000
Shasta County agreed to pay $300,000 to settle a lawsuit over a decision to use deputies to seize a girl's pet goat to be slaughtered. It's
