someone: I donât like RENT
me: RENT was inspired by the struggle of those living with AIDS, many that Larson knew personally and even included them in the show (see: Life Support). The song âWill Iâ came from a meeting at the support group Friends in Deed where Larson was attending with his best friend who had just been diagnosed with AIDS himself. Throughout the making of his show, five of his closest friends died from the disease; theyâre credited in Life Support. The poverty seen in the show was an accurate representation of Greenwich Village, where Larson lived; there were extension cords out of the windows so that people could have power. He wore the same pair of shoes for five years and worked at a diner for almost ten. He finally saw his dream of becoming a composer coming true after ten years of worry and failure (see: tick tick boom) and was interviewed only once for this show, the night before the opening of it Off-Off-Broadway. He went home and died that night and never got to see the show go to Broadway. His sister had to accept his Tony Awards. The show pulled people out of poverty like Idina Menzel, who was performing at weddings and bars to survive and losing most of her profit. The show redefined the meaning of the term rock musical and has impacted musical theater greatly (see Next To Normal). It was one of the eight musicals ever to win a Pulitzer Prize and won four Tonyâs. It is the modern adaptation of La Boheme, teaching people that groups of people throughout all of time can suffer and bond together, that the story of struggle and survival is timeless.
me: also la vie boheme

A former Lehigh University student from China who was already facing ethnic intimidation charges against a black dormitory roommate is now accused of attempted homicide by trying to slowly poison him.
Pennsylvania prosecutors said Thursday that Yukai Yang, 22, allegedly poisoned his Lehigh roommate, Juwan Royal, also 22, whose blood tested positive for the chemical thallium after he reported becoming increasingly sick. Yang, a chemistry major, gained access to the toxic chemical that is colorless, odorless and tasteless. In May, Yang was charged with ethnic intimidation, institutional vandalism and criminal mischief after he scrawled the n-word on a desk in the room he shared with Royal, who is black.
Assistant District Attorney Abe Kassis told NBC News Yang had surreptitiously been slipping the poisonous thallium chemical into Royalâs mouthwash, food and casual beverages heâd find unattended throughout their dorm room. In February, Royal told campus police he felt a burning sensation after drinking from a water bottle in his room. Much of the poison was allegedly secretly placed into food and drinks in their shared dorm room refrigerator.
Royal also became increasingly sick back in March with symptoms of dizziness, vomiting and uncontrollable shaking. During questioning about the racist note left in the room, campus police separately confronted Yang about Royalâs mysterious sickness. Prosecutors said that much like the slow process Yang was using to poison his roommate, Royal slowly realized what was happening.
CRAZY !

breaking bad, fight club, rick and morty, clockwork orange, and the catcher in the rye are all arguably good things - but if a man says they are his FAVORITE book/movie/tv show? RUN.
Can someone explain this to me?
Theyâre all works that are examinations of compelling but deeply flawed (usually narcissistic and violent) men. People rightly like all these works because they are good, but the implication of the original post is that if a guy says they are his favorite work, he is probably misunderstanding the point of the work and instead idolizing the male protagonist and is unable to recognize their flaws.
Basically, ask why they like it. If they like it because they think itâs well-written and made, youâre probably good. But if they want to be like Walter White, or Tyler Durden, or Rick Sanchez, or Alex DeLarge, or Holden Caulfield: yeah, RUN.
Finally I can reblog this post.
This also goes for Mad Men, run like hell from any guy who identifies with/idolizes Don Draper
âItâs a satire. Many donât get that⊠My daughter had a friend named Max. She told me âFight Clubâ is his favorite movie, I told her never to talk to Max again.â David Fincher, director of Fight ClubÂ
âŠ.can I add Itâs Always Sunny in Philadelphia and BoJack Horseman
^oh big mood. I love Bojack Horseman because the characters are flawed as fuck and I relate to Bojack as a self-destructive mentally ill person, but god fuck do NOT talk to anyone who idolises that shit.
The actor was asked about the movement in a recent interview.
In a recent interview with The Sunday Times, the actor was asked if itâs hard to be a man in Hollywood now due to the #MeToo movement, which has led to a broader reckoning against sexual misconduct. Plenty of actors have been asked something similar, and many have responded with statements that ended up necessitating apologiesâfrom Matt Damon to Henry Cavill.
But Elba? He had this to say in response: âItâs only difficult if youâre a man with something to hide.â
