WHEN THE MODERN FRAMEWORK OF GENDER, SEX, AND SEXUALITY WAS LITERALLY BORN OUT OF 19TH CENTURY RACE SCIENCE YOU CANNOT DISCUSS FEMINISM OF ANY KIND WITHOUT HAVING TO FIRST DISCUSS THE RACIALIZATION OF GENDER ASSIGNMENT/PERCEPTION
like i cannot stress enough that when "man" and "woman" got codified "scientifically" in the 1800s as intrinsically seperate categories within western society THEY EXPLICITLY STATED BLACK AND BROWN PEOPLE WERE TOO PRIMITIVE TO DEVELOP THIS DISTINCTION. WE WERE QUITE LITERALLY SEEN AS A THIRD UNDIFFERENTIATED CATEGORY BELOW (WHITE) MEN AND WOMEN.
Like you CANNOT divorce gender as a construct from race as it was literally born out of the social construct of race. Black/Brown Trans Woman and White Trans Woman are, for all intents and purposes, discrete gender identities historically speaking. And the worst part is that this way that both Black/Brown women of ANY gender have had to fight to be recognized as people - much less women - should be a point of solidarity between white trans women and black/brown women. but every time we try to have this discussion it turns into a fucking flamewar bc of white fragility
South American Feminist Maria Lugones discusses this in The Coloniality of Gender.
Comrades, Almost a Love Story. Dir. Peter Chan. 1996.
December 25, 1989: Comrades Nicolae and Elena Ceausescu of Romania are sentenced to death by masked “judges” following a fascist-led military coup.
The lifelong communist militants, both from poor peasant backgrounds, are murdered by the pro-imperialist Council of National Salvation and buried in an unmarked grave.
“I will answer any question, but only at the Grand National Assembly, before the representatives of the working class. Tell the people that I will answer all their questions. All the world should know what is going on here. I only recognize the working class and the Grand National Assembly – no one else. I will not answer you putschists,” Ceausescu said.

October 26, 2023 - Dutch fascist Thierry Baudet was hit in the head with a fold-up umbrella by an antifascist at the University of Ghent in Belgium, where he was giving a presentation to a bunch of pathetic larpers from the fascist student society. Sound on for a satisfying *THWACK* [video]
Missed the anniversary two weeks ago, so here it is now 🥳 The person who hit him turned out to be a Ukrainian antifascist 🫡

what we really need this year to bring the magic back is a good old-fashioned 9/11 miracle

Today in Haitian History - August 18, 1944 – Death of Haitian political activist and novelist Jacques Roumain
Born into wealthy “mulatto” family in Port-au-Prince in June 1907, Jacques Roumain rose to become one of the most celebrated figures of his time. While outside of Haiti, he is often remembered for his posthumous magnum opus, Gouverneurs de la Rosée, published shortly after his death, Roumain’s importance extends beyond literature and carries into politics. His political engagement notably as the co-founder of the Parti communiste haïtien or PCH (the Haitian Communist Party) led to his imprisonment (on repeated occasions). Analyse schématique 32-34, the political text released shortly after the creation of the PCH, remained for a long time an inspiration for generations of Haitian Marxists and Communists and guaranteed Roumain a central place as one of the most influential individuals the Haitian Left. While his death in 1944, that of his close collaborator Christian Beaulieu the previous year coupled with the increased intolerance of the Lescot government (1941-1946) for any political opposition, did provide for a momentary blow to the Left, a new movement emerged during the “Revolution of 1946.″ Many of the central agitators of the other Haitian Revolution cited Roumain and his life as inspiration for their political awakening.

The Curaçaoan freedom fighter Tula receives rehabilitation, and the Netherlands offers apologies.
On 17 August 1795, Tula, with 50 others, started the largest revolt in the history of the Netherlands Antilles against the Dutch tyrannical slavers. Tula fought for freedom and equality. His group traveled across the island, freeing people, and the group increased to 2000 people. The Dutch brutually crushed the revolt and captured Tula. Tula was tortured and brutually executed by the Dutch.
The Dutch government always portrayed Tula as a criminal, but today, he is declared a hero by the Dutch government (he has been a national hero in Curaçao since 2010). They also admitted that the Dutch tried to erase him from history and offered official apologies.
These are small steps, but important in the road towards reparations.

Oh hey it's the 2nd of August. It's international Romani genocide memorial day. 79 years and still the vast majority of countries don't give a fuck about it nor recognize it. Hell on Earth everywhere
It's been 80 years since the Nazis liquidated the Romani family camp in Auschwitz, killing 4,000 people in a single night. Most countries don't recognize it and most European countries continue to treat us like shit
Learn about the history of discrimination against Roma in Europe and how the Nazi regime committed genocide against European Roma during WWI
