Why Global Warming Will Cross A Dangerous Threshold in 2036
If the world continues to burn fossil fuels at the current rate, global warming will rise 2 degrees Celsius by 2036, crossing a threshold that many scientists think will hurt all aspects of human civilization: food, water, health, energy, economy and national security.

Bummer.
What to plant in a salsa garden If you go through fresh salsa in the summer like I do, planning your garden around the right ingredients is a smart idea.
I WANT TO DO THIS! Another excuse to plan a garden and feed the earth!!
Where are allergies the worst and what can you do about it?
I feel like allergies were worse this year than they have been before. Imagine a world where there is SO much pollen in the air that EVERYONE has seasonal allergies. Man oh man that's a lot of sneezes.
UNICEF recently teamed up with clothing designer Giorgio Armani for the latest campaign in the UNICEF Tap Project, which has been striving to increase access to clean water for children worldwide s...
I think this is GREAT! It makes you wonder why these people aren't just donating money/water regardless of whether or not someone picks up their phone or not--but I do think that this is a great incentive to PUT DOWN THAT PHONE and smell the roses!
A tag on orange farmer Matt Fisher’s irrigation spigot reads, “No irrigation water is available this year. Illegal use of irrigation water is subject to penalties. Your meter has been sealed.” The Terra Bella Irrigation District says they will charge $10,000 if farmers cut the seal. Some say the price may be worth it to keep their crops alive. Wow, illegal use of water?
This sounds like something out of one of the future voicemails we’ve been decoding. Remember this one about Border Patrol stops checking for water smugglers near Lake Michigan?
WOW. crazy.
Do green cars lead to more driving? Not to worry. Wonks have long cautioned that ‘the rebound effect’ will mean that people will celebrate their high-mpg vehicles by spending more time behind the wheel. In reality, fuel economy is at a record high, and vehicle miles traveled keeps dropping.
Is it better to have more fuel efficient cars on the road or to have less, less-fuel efficient cars on the road? Most cars nowadays are fairly fuel efficient/better for the environment, but does this mean that the higher population of cars will use up more gas anyways?
Deserts don’t just absorb carbon dioxide, they squirrel it away for safekeeping This surprising discovery won’t be enough to stop climate change, but it will help, researchers say.
VERY interesting...
Chronofact Shadow
We need to change now, before it’s too late.
wow. Very striking to think about the world like this...
Homeless shelter is transformed into 5-star restaurant, hot food and warm hearts all around. See the full video here.
wow this is neat :)
Rationing the Rain: How California Distributes Its Water in a Drought
“Distributing enough water to everyone has never been an easy task in perennially thirsty California. But making sure that residents, farms and the environment are all sufficiently hydrated becomes a particularly difficult balancing act during prolonged periods of drought. Simply put, there’s just not enough to go around. Cartoon journalist Andy Warner — whose last piece focused on California agriculture — explains the complicated math of water distribution in the Golden State.”
According to this article, the current drought might become the worst California has ever seen. Deciding who gets water is a delicate balancing act. If drier conditions become the norm, which way will the scale tip? Something will have to give, right?
gorgeous
I can't believe the chronofall is almost OVER!
that makes me sad!
I knew from the start that this major world-wide chronofall would only last a few months, but I just didn't think that these few months wold fly by SO FAST!
It's hard for me to look back on these past months and try to think of how to sum up everything I experienced during this major chronofall.
My mind is spinning! I have to start sorting through all the voicemails that are floating around in my brain. All the voicemails that struck a chord with me one way or another, and what it all means! What does this all mean for my future? Also what does this mean for my life RIGHT NOW?
In what way(s) has futurecoast changed me? SO MANY. I'm overwhelmed! I need some sort of "inner brain personal assistant" to move into my head and sort through all the information and help me make sense of it all!
How has futurecoast affected you?
awww man!
I cannot BELIEVE I missed out on the MPLS chronofall! gaaaahh!! Of course it all happens on the ONE DAY I was busy with a huge work overload. GAAAHH!
I won't be bitter, however--because the chronofact was found almost RIGHT AWAY! This is a HUGE success!
a huge congratulations to @zgeorge93 who found it just over by St. Anthony & main! Man oh man! And that was one of the places I was going to look!!
Here is the voicemail it decoded into:
http://futurecoast.org/voicemail/42371-88027963/
It's a basic service announcement about schools being closed because of the air quality...hmm interesting...
So very very exciting people! I'm sad I missed it, but I'm glad the chronofact was found by someone! And now this possible future in 2058 is out there and known! Hooray!

Listen to your futures
I've been drawn to voicemails from the near future (within 10-20 years from today) and I found a pattern with 6 voicemails that are all from within the next 15 years. In these 6 voicemails, it seems that the climate is either really hot, really dry or both. It makes me wonder about the near future...Within the next 15 years we could experience some very hot/very dry days...
I don't know if I would rather have really hot weather or really cold weather...I'd rather have a lovely 70 degree day. The dryness is the thing that worries me the most...lack of water is terrifying. what do you think?
