Hello, lovely people!
I'm not new in jonsa crowd but not old enough. I silently read mind-blowing metas and amazing fanfics, everything that i see and can reach
Couple of days i have a question on my mind. Maybe there's a list of fanfics that everyone should read? List of masterpieces from begging of fandom till today? What's your recommendation to read then?
I really afraid that i might miss some good jonsa gems
And another topic is jonsa metas. Is there a special list of analysis that should be read?
I’m back with links!
A Time for Wolves - The Case for Jon and Sansa is a meta a lot of us think of as THE META because of how thorough and prescient it was. Posted all the way back in 2013.
I'll also link this post from 2013 because it too hits on a lot of favorite Jonsa talking points. Again, of particular interest because it predates the Jonsa reunion on the show.
Let's see...someone I felt was particularly attuned to Martin's sensibilities was fedonciadale. Sadly, she passed away several years ago, but her family has left her blog up so I'll link her masterpost for you to explore. Martin adores Lord of the Rings and she was a fan as well, so I was particularly intrigued by the parallels she found between the two series. She even predicted Arya Frodo-ing:
It is possible that she is “Frodo” and there is foreshadowing in the show and the books for her to go adventuring in Essos. (link)
lostlittlesattelites was a beloved blogger who deactivated but @artanisansa retrieved a bunch of their posts.
I'd certainly recommend @starkmaiden's Kissing Cousins: A Jonsa Timeline that lists Jonsa foreshadowing in order as it appears in the books as a wonderful resource.
I'd also recommend reading Where the Iron Throne Ended and the Dream of Spring Began and these followups by drifting-snowflakes: Why I still believe Jon and Sansa will end up getting married part 1, part 2, part 3. I also have a drifting-snowflakes tag with a few of their other posts.
I’d call A hidden and forbidden love by @princess-in-a-tower an essential read because of how often people ask about "the pre canon crush theory.”
I always enjoy @julibf's posts about book foreshadowing for Jonsa and @butterflies-dragons's post Jon Snow: The silent, unknown and unthought answer to Sansa’s hopes is lovely as well. And another favorite meta is @istumpysk's Find Sansa's Husband . While this isn't a meta this artwork by wolvesofspring (that blog is no longer hers so I linked to my tag for her art) illustrates the parallels in Jon and Sansa's story beautifully and has been a favorite in the fandom. And of course, I have to include the gorgeous corresponding gifset by @c-sand.
Now for fics! I have been collecting fics organized by AU/trope for a while, but those feature older favs alongside newer & lesser known ones. If I had to name a select few that have been very popular ever since I joined the fandom it would be if you try to break me, you will bleed, Found in Forbidden Nights, A Winter's Tale (by an og jonsas who is still active/writing fic!), half a kingdom and a princess, Build a Ladder to the Stars, Goodbye Means Going Away (And Going Away Means Forgetting), Freia, Beasts of Seasons, and thimbleful for show verse fics. Those are a few of the fics I've seen people repeatedly recommend here on tumblr over the years, and most of those authors have several Jonsa fics for you to enjoy.
Happy reading!
Esther you just have done god's work! Thank you 🙏🏻
