The Qulaan Tribe gathers tonight under the (IC) full moon to celebrate Qulasar – a monthly gathering that acts half as a tribal meeting where many announcements are made and matters are brought before to the tribe, and half as a social gathering filled with feasting, drinking, dancing, singing, and general merry-making.

With that in mind, we have redecorated the tribe’s small house in the Goblet to emulate the feel of a traditional yurt as closely as we could manage!

The lower level of the house contains the feasting yurt. The room is headed by a high table where the Khatun and her hunting partner sit in a position of respect and honor. In front of them is a long, lower table for the rest of the tribe. At the center of that table is a raised platform where the Qulaani make offerings to their goddess, Balanai the Huntress. Finally, in the rear of the room lie the cookfire which continues to turn out fresh, hot food and kumis until the appetites of all the hunters are well sated.

The main level of the house holds the main yurt, which serves as the “meeting hall” for the Qulaani. At the head of the room sits the Hunter’s Throne, currently claimed by Saraghul Khatun. Flanking her throne are two smaller seats, reserved for her hunting partner and a trusted advisor of her choosing.

I’d just like to add, see how they behave when they’re angry/frustrated/exhausted, and if you see something that concerns you, wait until they’re calm, and then talk to them about it.

My husband used to yell when he got frustrated, but after I explained to him that I found it upsetting, he stopped yelling and started consciously working on asking for help before he got to that level of frustration.

When I’m upset over something, or just in a bad mood, I tend to withdraw. My husband explained to me that it makes him feel like I’m mad at him, so now when I need some space, I’ll tell him what I’m upset about, or that I’m in a bad mood for no particular reason, and I need to be alone for a little while.

See your friends and partners at their worst, but don’t assume that their worst is immutable. If someone loves and cares about you, they’ll try to accommodate you to the best of their ability.

^^^^ This is the best advice I’ve ever seen on this site, and it is so important. Communication is everything, and is 80% of the reason my husband and I have such a healthy, strong, and supportive relationship.

A most unexpected twist of fate brought the far-flung surviving members of the Qulaan tribe together this evening at the Grindstone tourney in Thanalan. Saraghul Khatun (@saraghul), Alaqa (@jaliqai-and-company), Soyeolla (@fortress-and-flame), Batu (@babybatu) and Maqali were all reunited in the most unexpected of places far from their home, perhaps guided there by the divine will of their goddess, Balanai the Huntress.

Though the meeting was brief between the tourney fighting and their khatun being called away, the tribe members at least learned that perhaps they were not as alone in this world as they thought they were..
