So I made a book cover out of fake leathery-fabric stuff and added those charms. I was going for at least a bit of steampunk vibe. Anyone have suggestions for additions to make it look better?
(Keeping in mind of course that I’m not that crafty. Just a teensy bit.)

Okay, so that was...a lot longer than I planned to be gone. If I actually made New Year’s resolutions, mine would have been to be better about updates. Um...there really isn’t an excuse for how long I was gone, because I’ve been in Japan for a while now. I really need to step up my game. I promise to try harder, so hopefully little posts from me are going to actually start popping up in the future.

So, as I said before, here is my new blog that will detail my adventures as a JET ALT this coming year. Only one post up so far, but I’m sure it will get a lot more exciting once I’m actually over there...
Notes on Recent Hiatus
So, as is obvious just by looking at my Tumblr page, I’ve been gone for a little while, and I actually came back to explain why. Since the fall of last year, I have been applying for the JET Program. Some of you have probably heard of it, but for those of you who haven’t, JET is a program for teaching English in Japan. I was notified in the Spring that I passed the interview, and just a few weeks ago, I found out where I was going. Since then, I’ve been working on preparing to live in Japan for a year.
I don’t plan to abandon this tumblr, but my updates are probably still going to be sparse until I’ve settled in Japan, so there’s that. I also would like to start a blog dedicated to my time in Japan. I haven’t made it yet, but it’s in the works, and if anyone is interested to see my bumbling adventures as an English teacher, I’ll post the link to the blog once it’s up and running.
Well, that’s all for now, but I will be back. Soon, I hope, but barring that, I hope to see you in a month in a half or so, when I’ll be firmly settled in to my Japanese apartment.
No matter how old I get, “Excuse me?” will always be a reference to the movie Holes.
Help a Writer
Hey guys! This is a reblog request because I want to learn something. I don’t have any brothers, so I was rather hoping that people who do have one/several could tell me what that’s like! If you want to post it as a reblog of this post, that’s fine, if you don’t want to make it public, but don’t mind PMing me, that’s fine too, I promise not to share. I just really want to know a few things for a story I’m writing.
Like, if you have a funny story, or a time they really annoyed you, or want to talk about how the relationship is between you, I’d love to hear about it.

Writing Problems
Me: *To friend* So I came up with this really awesome new story idea the other day! I’m totally excited, and I think it’s going to be really different and exciting!
Friend: Yeah? What’s it about?
Me: *Summarizes*
Friend: Oh, I totally read a book just like that the other day.
Me: *Dies inside*
