reading a Psycho retelling where Marion kills Norman and is on the run from that and im just about 1/3rd of the way in and the way this author is bending over BACKWARDS to ensure out main character has not transgressed in ANY WAY is so aggravating. ohhhh she stole the money but only so that she could help her sister escape an abusive marriage! and even THEN she didn't want to steal it circumstances just led her to not be able to deposit it like she had 100% intended to!

like not to be That Person but Marion Crane died because she transgressed - that's movie logic. if you craft a version of Marion who hasnt REALLY transgressed, then it isnt surprising when she doesnt die!!!
