Sartaq and Nesryn Coronation
just like teasing her and making her laugh
poking her sides in front of the mirror
kissing her cheek when she’s least expecting
and nesryn appreaciates it, she really does, but-
she was to become an empress
she would be shaking from head to toe
nesryn was good with a bow and arrow in her hands
not with a crown on her head
and yet that was what sartaq offered her
laid his kingdom at her feet
and only asked for her love in return
nesryn said to him, “You shouldn’t be here.”
“Ah, yes,” he said, snaking his arms around her waist, touching his lips to her cheek, facing her. “I should not be seeing my empress before the coronation. Is that how that stupid rule goes?”
“Sartaq,” she said to him, as if attempting to scold him, and touching his coat jacket
traditional khagan styled clothing fit him perfectly
he looked every inch the warrior, the fighter
the protector of the skies, she’d seen when she’d first arrived here
“I can’t have you jinx this,” she said to him. “I don’t need some god to be angry at us and make me trip on my way down-”
he kissed her on the lips, so gently
they’d put flowers in her hair, but they fell away when he curved her beneath him
her arms snaking around his neck
sartaq smiled against her lips, and touched his lips to her nose, only once
“It’s not polite to interrupt your wife and empress,” she said, breathlessly
“You are completely right,” he said. “I need some good scolding. A slap in the bum. Maybe another kiss to torture me into being good?”
nesryn shook head head at him, “You are shameless.”
“I am,” he grinned, kissing her cheek. “I’m sorry. I’m just…very happy.”
nesryn looked him over - bright eyes, a smile as big as the world - happy indeed
sartaq took her hand, and led it to his heart. “I’ll be my happiest when I swoop you into the skies, my love, and have us begin our adventure.”
“You mean you are excited to get me alone, in our honeymoon, and have me all to yourself.”
“You know me well, my empress,” he grinned at her
and then people were knocking on the door
stressed out of their minds because the emperor was nowhere to be seen
they were quick to drag him out
and sartaq threw one last happy glance at his soon to be wife, and left to wait at the doors
when nesryn joined him, his arm looped around hers, and he walked with her every step of the way - towards that dais
her steps were wavering, her legs shaking as everybody stared
touched her knuckles to his lips
and gave her a reassuring smile, full of love
when they reached the dais, he said his full vows
and then everything disappeared
the world, the people staring
it was him, and his words, and his heart pouring out to her
when she proclaimed her love for him in front of the world, even though the people around her would never truly know how much she adored him, nesryn felt her heart grow lighter and lighter
and she truly began to believe that this was where she belonged
and nesryn wanted to kiss that smile off his lips
when he lifted himself up, he placed the crown on her head, so gently
and then he took her hand, kissed her briefly on the lips - another reassuring gesture
and then he was showing her to the world
he did swoop her into the air
but before, he swooped her into his arms
and carried her out of the palace
so they could start their adventure
