Possible prompts for this event will include Creatures & Monsters, Fairytale Tropes, and Popular Fairytales, Folktales, Legends, and Myths!
If you're not satisfied with the prompts, you can request up to 5 swaps for one week using this form upon receipt of your card. You can only use the swap request form once per card. Tell the mods exactly which prompts you want and ensure they are options you'll actually write for.
Cards will be delivered via Tumblr DM so please have that setting turned on. Make sure you have the "hide (your blog name) from people without an account” setting turned off as well. If for some reason we cannot send you a DM, we will use Tumblr Submission as the alternative.
Because some users only allow messages from people they follow, we urge you to follow the event account so that your card will be delivered successfully.

Hello, welcome to Gen Work June, a month for sharing some Gen Works!
(Gen as in relationship category, not the rating)
The Goal
To do something related to a gen work during June. This can be writing something, it can be drawing something, there are some prompts below to use for that or you can make something completely unrelated to the prompts. You can make a rec list, you can share some of your old work again, you can just leave a nice comment on a gen work, set yourself a challenge, keep it nice and easy, everything counts here.
The Rules
This is a month intended for gen works- that is, works not focused on a romantic relationship- so keeping things gen is pretty much the only rule (though mentions of background romance is allowed).
Appropriate tagging for any major warnings, read mores for long posts, and image descriptions for images are also appreciated, though there is always some slack allowed for older posts being reblogged.

Y'all been asking about this one forever, and I admit that I had to really think about how to make something like this possible without dying due to overwork 😅 but I think I got it!
The rules for this one are long and specific, under The Submissions, The Critics, and Things to Expect from Ice. So I'm putting them under a read more.

The Submissions
In order to be accepted, your submissions REQUIRE:
The Title and Genre
The premise of your story- this can be a description, a blurb, a summary, anything that allows us as the reader to understand the set up of what's going on here.
A description of your character- this doesn't have to be their entire life story. We just wanna know their name, what they look like, background, powers- RELEVANT things! Ideally, this should tie in smoothly to the premise!
Think of it as the summary that's on the back of books when you go to read them, plus a little extra. It should pull your reader in!
Rules for Submission:
Character has to be Black. This includes Black biracials, yes! If it's a side character, fine. But don't tell me all about your nonblack MC's life saga just to go "and then here's Black Buddy". Keep that. We want to hear something tailored to the Black character!!
PDF converted into an image. That way we can click it and read the whole thing without it taking up a huge amount of space in the ask. If you can include an image description for accessibility, that would be kind of you.
One Page! 12 Point! Legible Font! You can write your magnum opus if you want, but I won't post it 🤣 twelve point font MINIMUM, one page MAX! Calibri is the font I find easiest to read, but be reasonable.
You don't have to fill the whole page! If you think you've got it in two paragraphs.... Great! Don't use no damn AI though.
Only do this challenge if you're willing to accept constructive criticism. This is a major one! People are going to judge your work. You have to accept that! You're ASKING them to! I will not accept submissions with apologies and clarifications and "this might sound racist now but-" Let the viewers make their own calls, unbiased! It'll reveal to you things you may not have even considered, which will guide your writing. Maybe you'll drop an idea, maybe you'll take on an extra challenge, it's fine!
The Critics
Be constructive, not destructive. These are people looking for genuine feedback. Put on your Mrs. CBC hat and give that to them. You are well within your rights to say when something makes you uncomfortable, or if it's not something you would read due to that discomfort. Use your words to explain WHY. But if you feel yourself about to blow up with how much you hate an idea or a person... Keep it in your head or take it to your own page. We didn't ask for that.
Keep feedback to a reasonable length. I don't mind one or two comments with feedback, but if you got a LOT and you really wanna have this conversation with the poster (which is great!) you can always take it to the OPs inbox! I know it's selfish, but I'm gonna get a lot of notifications from this and if it's a back and forth, that is something that can be held between the two of you!
Understand that the premise is not the entire story. As always, you cannot determine if something is a problem based off of a page worth of context. So when you offer feedback, recognize that you can only approach it from a "consider this idea, because it may be a problem" perspective. Not a "this is inherently bad!!" We've talked about this! It's not on the idea, it's on the writer!
Things to Expect From Ice
For real, I won't be saying much! This is everyone's chance to play as CBC for two weeks lmao. But I will pop in as desired. I do know there's gonna be some little things I'll be checking for in every submission.
I'll be turning notifications off after a point for each one, so I don't get overwhelmed. If something feels wrong, if boundaries are being pushed and it comes to my attention, I may turn off reblogs.
I am not pre-checking submissions! Do not ask me in advance how I feel- that defeats the point of the project.

This June prompt theme was my attempt at combining a few aspects of what was most voted on in the poll. Since “Summer Solstice” won out, I tried to make it mostly fit to that, but also incorporated the “June in Tune” and “Honeymoon in June” since they tied for second.
SO here is my monster.
The following is a list of songs. I’ve created a Spotify playlist (link or scan the code) to hopefully make this easier for everyone. My intention was to create a Summery-feeling collection, but also have some lovey vibes mixed in. So there are love songs, summer songs, summer love songs, etc. So hopefully that covers all of our bases for those of you who aren’t experiencing Summer this time of year.
Pick lyrics you like if you want to base your work on that, use the song title, use your interpretation of the song, even just use the general vibe or feeling it gives you. Overall, it’s your work and these prompts are purely here to try to spur some creativity or get the writer’s block to go away.
I tried to pick various genres (although pop-ish music won out) and various time periods-ish. There are also some extra songs at the end of the month.
All that being said: making this was…a time 😂 I am open to any feedback should you want to chime in. If you liked it, I can definitely do something similar again. If it wasn’t accessible, let me know. All the things. If nothing else, I hope you at least found some new music you like or hadn’t heard before (I did).

Finding the Write Time: A Monthly Writeblr Challenge
Hello, and welcome to the 2026 edition of Finding the Write Time! A monthly writing challenge aimed at helping writers finish a work in a set time.
The Challenge
Use a prompt to complete a piece of writing in 30 minutes or less. This could be a single scene in a larger work, a stand-alone short story, a chapter of a story, whatever you define as a “piece of writing.” Whether it ends up being 100 words or 1000, the goal is to completely brainstorm, plan, and draft your writing in a single writing session.
The Prompts
Every month, I’ll post a writing prompt specifically meant for the challenge. This year I will be using scene prompts, trying to give you guys a basis to start with. Feel free to send in submissions for prompts!
How to Participate
Just let me know you want to use the prompt for that month and tag me in your work once you post it so I can read and reblog it! You could also submit it to my blog directly if you wish, or you can add your submission to a reblog on the prompt you are using. Any and all methods of submission are accepted, just let me know! Remember, even though the prompts are organized by month, there is no deadline. You can post them or send them in whenever you are ready!
