I cannot stress how important it is for the radical left to develop an actual array of media outlets. A huge part of the rise of the alt-right was that they developed a compelling online presence with no leftist media to counter it. Not to mention we will never grow significantly ourselves without a modern presence that reaches out to people
Did You Know: You can save Tarhiel by casting slowfall on him? The infamous falling wizard is unlikely to survive his fall, as you must deliberately avoid the area he falls until you can return with the appropriate magical ability, but if you do his only comment about the whole experience will be: āI donāt want to talk about it.ā
one particularly sinister way that cop shows use propaganda is portraying defense lawyers as sleazy, opportunistic scumbags for committing the heinous sin of making sure their clientsā rights arenāt trampled over
cop shows are designed to make you hate your own rights and perpetuate the disgusting idea that only the guilty would try to defend themselves
my friend told me to make this
Jordan Peterson is Anti-Semitic? How so?
āCultural Marxismā conspiracy theories originated as conspiracy theories aboutĀ āCultural Bolshevismā, which the Nazis used to claim that a global conspiracy of Jewish Marxists were trying to undermine and western values.Intentionally or not, you canāt possibly promoteĀ āCultural Marxismā conspiracy theories without dogwhistling to Nazis, because the manner in which itās used is almost identical to how the literal goddamned Nazis used it.
Also everytime he makes any sort of slight comment criticizing anti-Semitism a bunch of his fanboys freak out and get mad. Meaning that a bunch of his fans are anti-Semitic.
If the racists like you, youāre probably racist.

Veganism and Climate Change
Since the IPCC report recently came out, there has been a lot of discussion about veganism. The IPCC report recommended that one of the best things to individually reduce your carbon footprint is by switching to a plant-based diet. Many people of course, hate this suggestion but there are a few things I want to debunk:Ā
ā100 companies are responsible for 71% of the global emissions so me being vegan wonāt change anything.ā
While yes, corporations are by far more responsible for the climate change crisis than individuals, we still have a personal responsibility. These companies are mainly fossil fuel companies, and we should be pushing our governments to hold them accountable to their actions, but if everyone who said them going vegan wonāt do anything, I bet you, something will happen.Ā
āVeganism still has a large carbon footprint if you buy food that has to be shipped inā
Yes it does! If you live in England and are buying produce shipped from Asia, then yes, the footprint of that produce will still be large. But it wonāt be as big as animal produce, especially factory farmed animal produce shipped from abroad. The best thing you can do is to buy local vegan produce.Ā
Raising animals to eat produces more greenhouse gases (nitrous oxide, methane) than all of the CO2 produced from transportation (cars, trains, planes), combined. Nitrous oxide and methane have a far stronger climate change potential than carbon dioxide, meaning they are more potent in influencing the greenhouse effect and raising the earthās temperature.Ā
Not to mention the amount of water, land and pollution animal agriculture causes. In the Amazon, roughly 70% of forests have been cleared for animal agriculture, that is either producing animal feed (usually soy) and grazing land. Animal agriculture uses a LOT of water to produce, beef in particular and also contributes to environmental pollution, through eutrophication, degeneration of coral reefs and contamination.
I often hear the argument that if everyone went vegan deforestation would still be high, which is true, because the human population is growing exponentially. However, if you are vegan, the forests cut down to produce your food is less than the forests cut down to produce animal meat. This is because to feed animals you must grow their feed AND make room for them to graze. Going vegan cuts out the second part.Ā
These are the 2 most common arguments I have heard in defence of eating meat in regards to the IPCC report. Iām sure there more and Iād love to hear them. Going vegan is so so important for the environmental health of our planet. Yes itās not the be all and end all, we need a economic focus, we need a shift in the way we live in all aspects of our life. But going vegan is an easy way to reduce your carbon footprint and if you can, then why wonāt you? Itās no longer just aĀ āpersonal choiceā when the future of our planet is at stake.Ā Ā
p.s.a. post bc i donāt think itās talked enough about
environmental racism is real and most city dumps, toxic waste, and pollution are located in poor and/or black neighborhoods
so if ur an environmentalist like me, add that to your agenda when promoting environmentalism, please!
I agree this is something people donāt talk about nearly enough, and animal agriculture is a particularly stark example of it. Animal farms have a devastating impact on their surrounding communities. Large farming facilities produce more than 400 different gases, all as a result of the amount of waste they produce, which pollutes local streams and waterways. The real concerns Ā are hydrogen sulfide, methane, ammonia and carbon dioxide. Communities surrounding these facilities are constantly close to hydrogen sulfide, a gas that can cause flu-like symptoms, while high concentrations or exposure can lead to brain damage. Methane can lead to vision problems, heart palpitations, brain damage, trouble breathing, and, with enough exposure, death.
Animal agriculture industries and councils know this, and so establish them in communities least likely to be able to mount a legal challenge. This means that these facilities disproportionately effect impoverished communities and people of colour, and counties with larger black and lationo populations are home to more factory farms. When these facilities are established, they immediately drive down land values due to the known health issues they cause, meaning that many residents can no longer afford to sell their homes and relocate, or mount any significant legal challenge.
When people do try to speak out against these corrupt industries either on behalf of these communities or on behalf of animals, they are met with legal action and often even criminal charges. These āag-gagā laws are devastating for the human victims of animal agriculture as well for farmed animals, but the the meat and dairy industries have such an enormously powerful political lobby that they are able to influence politicians into passing legislation which best serves their own interests, at the cost of human and animal lives.
@persolem
The amount of urban public schools that are build on or near remediation (dumping/toxic) sites is staggering, and has been linked to learning disabilities as well as reduced mental acuity for students. This shit is 100% institutional and intended.
Environmental Justice is Racial Justice. There is zero compromise.
this isnāt just a US problem
Very true. Environmental racism, also called environmental inequality, is a massive issue on a global scale. Every continent has its own environmental inequality issues to deal with, from Chinese environmental destruction in Africa, to the European tendency to use Rromani areas as garbage heaps and whatever the fuck theyāre doing to the entirety of Eastern Europe which is on a scale beyond my comprehension honestly. This is to say nothing of the fact that global warming predominantly affects the global south and historically exploited regions.Ā
All of these issues are interconnected.
However, for many Americans, it is easier to conceptualize the suffering o their own neighbours, than to try to take stock of complex global systems of exploitation. Given the huge amount of responsibility the US has for all of this environmental destruction on a global scale, changing the opinions of, and ultimately mobilizing, the US population is a laudableĀ focus, in my opinion.Ā
But, yes, this is a global issue.
It can also be xenophobia/classist. I grew up in a community with āDownwindersā. Basically my area was pelted with nuclear fallout between 1951 and 1962. This is southern Utah, just downwind of the Nevada nuclear test facility. The government was well aware of the damage of nuclear fallout and knew prevailing winds would blow it straight into these small, poor, Mormon (weirdos!) towns and Native American reservations. They knew it: they gave children badges with Geiger counters and encouraged them to go up on their roof to watch the mushroom clouds from a āsafeā distance.
Most of the seniors raised here during those times have at least one kind of cancer, particularly thyroid, but my environmental science professor had been through a whole fistful of cancers. My great grandfather likely died of it. John Wayne died of Downwinders, after being exposed filming in town. The federal government now has a program to pay for the health issues of Downwinders, but this community was literally made into a nuclear fallout experiment and itās disgusting.
Donāt forget the high percentage of minorities, especially undocumented people, working in slaughterhouses and rendering factories which have the highest rates of workplace death and injuries including serious cuts, loss of limbs, slips and falls, repetitive motion injuries, and many others due to the inhumanly fast pace of their work to keep up with demand and increase profits. Besides that, they suffer so many other dehumanizing abuses; Iām sure most of you have heard of Tyson making their employees wear diapers so they would never have to take bathroom breaks. And they know they can get away with all of this because most of the workers are afraid to report anything for fear they will get deported. They are literally told that they are putting their families at risk if they report any sort of injury or abuse.
youāre all so defensive when it comes to makeup and thatās because youāve been spoonfed the lie that criticizing a hugely exploitative industry that relies on women feeling insecure is somehow misogynist. itās quite literally the opposite and iām sorry youāve all been brainwashed like this
itās bc ppl believe feminism is about preserving and expanding femininity and not about womenās liberation, which would require a reexamination of what femininity is even supposed to be.

When you come back woke
Good for this white girl
There is actually a lot of us serving who feel this way, but arenāt allowed to speak on it while still in!
This last comment tells you everything you need to know, really
oh fuck!!!! oh shit!!!!!!!!! **falls in love**
i hate when someone says ādonāt make jokes about rednecks and hillbilliesā and some white 21 year old trying to be āwokeā saysĀ āhaha⦠go ahead and cry your white tears sweatie (:ā
no one thinks itās a racial issue against white people. thatās not why people say to stop that shit. itās an issue of classism. because the truth is that the majority of yāall who think youāre amazing activists just REALLY fucking hate appalachian people, and i know that because yāall think itās funny to say ākarmaās a bitch!ā when something bad happens to an appalachian state.
you donāt care about the poverty in the appalachia and you donāt care about queer people and/or people of color who live in the appalachia. you donāt care about education in the appalachia and you donāt care that these low rates of education mean higher rates of poverty and child poverty, which persist over the years. rural children are twice as likely to live in areas with persistent poverty. you care that poverty stricken children are statistically less likely to not have timely immunizations, have higher delinquency rates, and have lower academic achievement ā but only when weāre talking about urban areas outside of the appalachia.
people in our region die earlier than most. mortality rates are higher in the appalachia, and theyāre even higher for people of color that live in the appalachia. suicide rates are higher than anywhere else in the country by 17% ā itās 31% higher in central appalachia, and in rural areas within the appalachia, itās 27% higher than metro appalachia. cancer morality rate is 10% higher, and itās 15% higher in rural appalachia than metro appalachia. COPD mortality rate is 27% higher, and 55% higher in rural appalachia than metro appalachia. injury mortality rate is 33% higher, and itās 47% higher in rural appalachia than in metro appalachia. stroke mortality rate is 14% higher ā and you guessed itās, these rates are higher in rural areas vs metro areas by 8%. the rate of Years of Potential Life Lost, which measures premmature mortality from all causes of death, is 25% higher in appalachia, and 40% higher in rural vs metro areas.
the appalachia has an opioid epidemic. in 2015, our rate of death with drugs was 65% higher than the national average. 69% of those drug deaths were from opioids. these deaths have a connection to our poverty and education rates. the poorer you are, and the less educated you are, the more likely you are to die from an opioid death.
when i say ādonāt make jokes about rednecks and hillbilliesā, that doesnāt mean i think youāre being racist against white people (and again ā the majority of people who claim this also happen to be white š). i say that because you are perpetuating extremely toxic rhetoric about our region, you are promoting stigma, you are encouraging blatant classism, and you are furthering the idea that we somehow ādeserveā it because our elected officials vote republican. itās not cute. stop acting like none of us have the right to call you out on your classist bullshit. like iām sorry if this comes off as too aggressive but i am sooooo sick of yāall thinking itās funny that our region is suffering.
and before anyone asks me for resources and links: google exists. i did my research and you can do it too.
EDIT: https://www.arc.gov/assets/research_reports/Health_Disparities_in_Appalachia_Trends_in_Appalachian_Health.pdf here, since yāall are too fucking obnoxiously incapable of taking 2.3 seconds google and instead want to claim I pulled random numbers from my asshole
also here https://www.arc.gov/assets/research_reports/Health_Disparities_in_Appalachia_August_2017.pdf
a big problem with the people who say stuff like this is they donāt realize just how manyĀ ārednecks and hillbilliesā are non-white. there are so many appalachian and southern POC that also suffer through these conditions but people like to cling to their idea that the only hicks are white hicks, so they couldnt care less if places like WV or KY just fell off the map, and to hell with who it is thatās actually hurting.
people also act like itās only appalachian and southern whites that voted for trump and that vote republican and itās not true - half of all white women voted for trump. the rich ones and the poor ones. itās not a problem thatās tied specifically to southern and appalachian white people but itās an easy scapegoat and allows people to not think about what theyāre actually saying.
as long as they can say that itās just them shitty racist white hicks that are suffering, then they donāt have to actually care about them. they can ignore them and not do anything to help them. like another person said in the notes, the teacher strike in WV is a better example of leftist organization than a whole lot of the people saying shit about hillbillies have ever done but they donāt care about that because, well, theyre just white hillbillies so what does it matter?
