It's important to me that Shane and Ilya are criers. Big wet sniffling weeping snot guys. Shane's crying in the car on the way home from the club when he should be fucking his hot girlfriend. Ilya's crying in Shane's arms in Tampa because dammit Hollander we can't do this but I want to do this I want it more than anything. They're crying while they say I love you in the refuge of the cottage because they're safe now, they're safe to feel everything they've been wanting to feel. Ilya's crying after fucking his boyfriend so good on Halloween but it doesn't cure him it doesn't make everything better. Shane's crying after they fight because he fucked up mom I'm a terrible boyfriend I fucked up I didn't see how unhappy he was and now I'm going to lose him. They're crying on Facetime because Ilya could have died, and then Shane would have died, everyday, for the rest of his life. They're crying because they're going to spend the rest of their lives together. And then they fuck and lick up each other's fat Studio Ghibli tears while doing it raw. And I give it a standing ovation every time.

Saying this again: I love Shane hollander. I love Ilya Rozanov and I love how his Russian roots get explored and I love all figments of his personality and since I love Ilya Rozanov, I want the best for Shane hollander. This means that I wish that Shane Hollander would be respected more in the book. I wish his Japanese heritage was explored better and I wish his personality was handled better and I wish he was handled with the same care that Ilya was handled with. I wish he wasn't villianized and I wish he had more love coming toward him. The way he's treated by so many of the people in the books makes it feel like all the love coming towards him is conditional, especially with the way Yuna treats him as something to make money from and it just makes me hurt for him. I love Shane Hollander and I wish he had proper characterization.

Shane thinks Ilya is the coolest person in the world. Like thats literally Shane's biggest reddest firetruck. And when they are out Ilya loves this. He loves having a built in audience for all his chirps and jokes, he loves that Shane is either laughing or at the very least is hiding his smile. It is such an ego boost that his husband is his biggest fan. That the person who Ilya likes the best clearly and obviously likes him the best back.

feeling unreasonably amused and fond about the idea of bb shane figuring out that timeout=having to go sit somewhere quiet and not have anyone talk to him

and thus putting HIMSELF in timeout especially at family events with a frequency that has other family members pulling yuna and david aside to be like, "he really didn't do anything wrong, he doesn't need to be in timeout. it's okay." and them having to figure out a way to explain that yeah, they know. this wasn't their call. he is free to leave whenever he wants. he's literally not in trouble for anything. he went up to yuna, said "mommy, i need a timeout" and then walked himself off to go sit in the guest room looking SO pleased at this loophole out of having to talk to people when he's tired of it.

It’s so crucial to my that the kitty LOVES Shane. Adores him. Gets nearly as excited to see him as Ilya does. She completely ignores Ilya for the first several hours of any Shane visit and Ilya can’t even bring himself to be insulted bc it’s how he feels about Shane too. Shane is dubious about this honor

Shane at 16 attempting suicide and immediately regretting it. Getting found by his mother. The ensuing therapy and then the years of maintenance therapy where he still never does utter the exact reason he tried all those years ago was bc he realized, in a cold sweat, that the little fantasies he sometimes couldn’t help would ruin him if he let them. That the legacy he so badly wanted to create could be gone before he even began if he let himself want, let himself desire. Spiraling. And then deciding that the answer must be to not have a legacy at all. No. He tells his therapist tells everyone it was stress. And they believes him. Why wouldn’t they?

(Shane & Ilya have been married a year by the time Shane finally says something. It’s accidental, it’s just an anecdote about the hospital he was staying in and he truly, genuinely, forgot that Ilya didn’t already know. It goes . Badly. Ilya starts driving to cool his head and it’s been an hour when he realizes he just left a man who admitted to a previous attempt alone, and reacts even worse to his own actions.) ilya and svetlana's physical comfort and affection with each other even outside of sex is very important to me, so i want it to continue after shane and ilya are together, with shane settling into it and working through his own jealousy/insecurity about svetlana because i think platonic physicality is very important and sweet

and because it offers the very funny idea of poor svetlana tucked away in the corner of the couch with ilya's head resting on her stomach and shane laying against ilya with his head on his shoulder, which aw. cuddle puddle. ilya getting to be touching his two most important people at the same time.

but also there is now a total of 400 pounds of hockey player standing between her and freedom if she needs to get up

i rly am of the full belief that ilya does in fact sometimes (not VERY often, but sometimes) enjoy being the bottom. i Do think he likes to give up that control sometimes esp when he's overwhelmed with a lot of big thoughts and needs to just let go. and i think shane is SO good at recognizing those needs and being there for him. i don't think shane would be miserable fucking ilya, i think it gives him a lot of satisfaction to be able to do that for ilya every so often.......i don't think there's some strict rule in place where shane Never tops....yes there's certain lines in the books that push that agenda but lbr there are a bunch of things RR has in the books that people choose to ignore...and this is mine i fear...

I know in my heart of hearts that myshane doesn’t give a fuck about soccer but he’s oddly friends with a large amount of players across the world and most are playing in the World Cup on diff teams so he tunes in to watch them and chirps them about their playing and sending congratulations/affirmations depending on the outcome of each match but the funniest thing to me is that this World Cup is currently after hollanov comes out so all of these world famous players come together to hold up cards that say “fuck the metros, hi Shane 💗” and Ilya (who also doesnt care about soccer but is watching because Cliff does) is losing his fucking mind because he’s putting together the pieces on why Shane said he was going to visit a few buddies and this mf is in the stands on tv dapping up people on each side of the match
