there's a LOT of nuance to the whole "sfw vore" movement that happened. this isn't going to be super eloquent, but it's a hot button topic that comes up every so often that I'm giving my 2¢ on
a lot of that movement, from my perspective, stemmed from nonsexual vore enjoyers trying to carve and find a space away from the sexual vore enjoyers. a lot of times "sfw vore" accounts are just non-sexual vore accounts. it was just a way to try and enjoy something safely without having sexual themes thrown in your face.
the terms SFW and NSFW have become SIGNIFICANTLY associated with the connotations of "not sexual" and "sexual" in recent days. and that's been a major downgrade.
i don't think vore is sfw. it IS nsfw. but that does NOT mean it's all inherently sexual. and that's where the line in the sand is. that's where it all came from. i don't find it fair to immediately criticize and judge people for trying to carve a space for themselves. could better terminology have been used? absolutely! I like that most of folks switched over to use nsx vore for their tags. but the "sfw" vore folks did what they could in the moment with what they had
There was this vore fic I read a good while ago centering around an alien (who I believe had four arms) and his roommate, who he suddenly had a hankering for after a workplace incident where he got hit in the head. Like my mans was just Overcome with Hunger, until he eventually did swallow his roommate, got hit with the crazy guilt, ordered a shit ton of food, let roommate out, demolished the food, and so on

You can kind of see it in the post I made before, but when I was putting together my headcanons for EJ, I gave him two tongues, a lot more sharp teeth, and a LOT of goo. His teeth are supposed to be vaguely lamprey-esque.
The black is not saliva, it's the same black sludge that leaks from his eyes and his stomach is also full of it! A very gooey experience, probably stains a lot of clothes. Vaguely in line with the OG backstory (at least as far as I'm aware), it's also pretty warm because what was poured into his eyes was hot tar and blood. Because of this I also think his organs are hardy af, so even if you manage to get past all the goo, you'd have a tough time doing any damage!
I cannot emphasize enough how much goo there is, just to reiterate. Because it's so much. Even if he hasn't eaten anything but you, you're still in goo soup basically. Full warm mud bath in there. I can't imagine he likes it getting everywhere, though, so if he's spitting you out he's probably gonna try to get some of it off first so u h

Outside of anatomy, I think homie definitely has a pred preference. If he is ever prey it's unwilling and he does not taste good. It's tar he tastes like tar. He's a pretty quiet guy, doesn't talk a whole lot but when he does it's nice and bassy.
I also will not be convinced by any manner of person that he and Toby are anything but besties, and he absolutely gets "Eat him" urges because of it. (Also Toby's just stupid and should get ate regardless to keep him out of trouble) And yes, I do think EJ should have those dumb hard-to-fight instincts this fandom gives every pred ever to eat their friends, I like them, that trope will come to hell with me, I do not care. We can say it's because he was supposed to be a monstrous sacrifice if it'll make the skeptics happy (I'm being sassy but yes that is my excuse).
Like most pastas, he's lost enough that he just. Is super protective of the people he can actually stand. Which is probably most of the creeps tbf, I just think he acts like they irritate him more than they actually do. But he can and will eat them over it. He's big, and tough, and scary, and whatever it is is going to have to get through him first.

It's definitely less of a like and more of a tolerate for the most part, but it's because said player is quiet and, frankly, not a threat. Scared him off the first couple times, but he just would not stop coming to the Deep Dark. But this player wasn't loud or irritating or anything like most of the players Tyridis' had met, so he basically just decided fuck it and started ignoring him for the most part.
But when that player ended up running to him for protection? Well, maybe he ended up more fond of him than he realized
