It does feel people are largely non-zionists rather than anti-zionists. People who happen to be against the Zionist project but happily would support other colonial projects if it's less genocidal and more polite about it all.
The way Europeans and yanks talks about Argentina makes me sick. If you wanna talk about "housing nazis' I could say a thing or 2 about the US and any country in europe.....
If I see any more manufacturing consent state dept talking points about argentina from ppl on here its fucking on sight i dont care. if you cannot recognize whats going on thats on you. fucking fascists.
Yes and the worst excuse of Damon fanatics is that Stefan made Damon drink blood to complete the transition. Stefan is the little brother he doesn't know better and isn't mature enough. Damon on the other hand is and could have stopped it or end himself after becoming a vampire instead of using it as an excuse because the 17 year old girl (Katherine) wanted his 17 year old little brother.
// What did he ever actually do to be an older brother to Stefan, other than torment him at every stage of his life.
I believe Damon used Stefan turning him into a vampire as an excuse to torment him, but the real reason was that he was angry because of Katherine. He just kept using becoming a vampire as the justification.
And he had so many opportunities to end it, but he never did. Instead, he was actually enjoying that life while pretending to be unhappy about turning, using it to guilt-trip Stefan for the rest of his life.
The fact is, Damon was already willing to become a vampire and was willingly drinking Katherine’s blood. Then, all of a sudden, he acts unhappy because his 17-year-old brother who was afraid to be left alone, had been compelled, and was fed vampire blood without his knowledge-completed the transition Stefan was the one Damon, as the older brother, was supposed to protect. He’s just childish and pathetic.
I’m honestly curious as to why Stefan being a victim of Katherine isn’t acknowledged by the fandom more. Like he was straight up forced to drink her blood and had his fear compelled away and it’s barely talked about? Meanwhile I have to hear about Stefan turning Damon 24/7 lmao
You don’t know how much this fact agitates me, and I blame the show for that. From start to finish, there was so much focus on Stefan turning Damon and spending the entire series sympathizing with Damon over it, but they never once stopped to acknowledge what happened to Stefan that he was the first one to be forced, that his agency was taken away, and that because of that he had to spend decades suffering.
That’s also why I could never want Stefan and Katherine together, because to me it’s the same as wanting Damon and Caroline together. She did that to him, and yet there’s never any real acknowledgement of it.
The way they tortured Stefan for eight seasons over turning Damon, yet never once properly highlighted or called out the fact that Stefan himself had been turned against his own will. He was assaulted, compelled to feed on blood, and had already decided not to complete the transition. Then, in self-defense, he accidentally killed his father, who had literally been about to kill him. With blood already on his hands, he couldn’t resist the urge to feed.
Yet the narrative constantly punished Stefan for turning Damon and for killing his father, while completely ignoring that Stefan had been the first victim in all of this, forced into vampirism against his wishes. In the end, they killed him off because he had turned Damon, as though he deserved to die so Damon could have the human life instead. Everything that had happened to Stefan, everything he had been forced to go through, never truly mattered to them.
Damon on his way to rape, kill, or ruin his or someone else’s life: 🚶🏽
Stefan, perfectly calm and still: No, Damon, don’t. That’s bad. Stop it. Awe, not again. (Furrows brows intensely)

hopefully i'll get to do something other than endure soon. that would be really nice
I think for a lot of people “I am completely helpless and powerless” and “I am completely powerful and in control” are both basically comforting fantasies because most of us live our lives in an in between place where we have enough agency to be responsible for our actions but not enough agency to have true control over our lives and the tension between power and powerlessness in the day to day is psychologically wearing and exhausting
Westerners of color who get mad about global southerners pointing out that they benefit from imperialism are the sibling group of white people who hear "you have white privilege" and go "b-but I'm gay and trans and disabled and poor and did I mention I'm gay, where's my white privilege HUH"
"I have a hard time getting food and water and experiencing racism on a daily basis" Fascinating. I wonder what other groups of people may also have a hard time getting food and water while experiencing racism on a daily basis. While also getting murdered, raped, and enslaved by the forces of western imperialist countries. At a disproportionately higher rate than anywhere in the west and with far less coverage from any media, and far less outrage from anyone
The device that you're using to claim that you don't benefit from imperialism contains cobalt that was mined by children in the Congo who do not have access to those same devices.

the thing is I just don't think intellectual labour is a special class of labour. I just don't think someone who created an intellectual product like a manuscript deserves the rights to extracting rent forever from physical copies of it more than the person who maintains the printers. I will just never be convinced of this.
and yeah h/t to @phenakistoskope there's already many types of creative intellectual labour that do not give you entry into the bourgeois class regardless of how independent and rich you are like what makes "creation" more inherently valuable than editing or typesetting or being a sound recording engineer. why is that not accepted as intellectual work with rentier benefits?
