me: why are you destroying earth!!!
aliens: because theres people who think that english is the only language they need to speak
me: thats fair i understand
For some reason I find this all the more amusing because it’s written in English
alienit: koska tääl on ihmisiä joitten mielestä englanti on ainoo kieli jota niitten täytyy puhua
minä: toi on reilua, ymmärrän
me: jo, daar seggst wat. Nu versta ik’t
aniga: dhulka maxaad u burburinaya !!!
shisheeyaha: dadka intiisa badani u malaynayaan in Ingiriisidu tahay afka oo kaliya ay u baahan yihiin inay la hadlaan
aniga: waxaan fahamsanahay. waa wax cadaalad
Aku : kenapa kau hancurkan bumi!!! Alien : karena masih banyak orang berpikir hanya bahasa inggris satu-satunya bahasa yang terpenting Aku : oh, oke lah..
io: perchè state distruggendo la terra!!!
A modern Rosetta stone.
‘your grades don’t determine your worth’ OKAY then why don’t we stop making them so!!!! damn!!!! important why don’t we stop ranking students why don’t we stop putting a ridiculous amount of pressure on kids 14-18 to have good fucking grades!!!!!!!!!!!!! don’t tell me that grades don’t define me because guess what!!!!!!! they fucking do!!!!!!! they define what opportunities I’ll get what college I’ll go to what kind of fucking life i’ll have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i hate the school system!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A good luck ghost for anyone who needs a little bit of extra luck with classes! :D

1/100 days of productivity
today i started 100 days of productivity and i’m really motivated! i started catching up on my reading for organic chemistry and i’m so glad i have these few days off. it scares me a bit because my exams will start as soon as these 100 days are gone, but it’s all about cherishing the moment :)
if you have any questions about studying biology in university, feel free to ask! :)
DO NOT DO THIS.
This makes me so angry.
If you work in a movie theater and you do this I have no respect for you.
My younger brother is Type 1 Diabetic.
When we go to a movie theater, we always get him diet soda. If he were to get regular when we asked for diet, we would not give him the insulin he would need for it. If that happens, his blood sugar level could go so high he could go into a coma, go blind, or even die.
If somebody gave him regular soda instead of diet without telling us, that person could be responsible for a nine-year-old being killed or blinded.
Just thinking about that makes me so angry. I get scared every time we take him to a movie in case the people working there saw this picture and decide to do the same thing.
Please signal boost this so people know.
This also applies to baristas
Fun story about the baristas doing this kind of shit.
I am very sensitive to lactose, not Lactose intolerant but because of stomach ulcers that are still healing. A couple years ago I went to Starbucks right after my classes with some friends and asked for a green tea latte with soy milk. The barista, for some reason out of malice and/or hate for her life so she took it out on me, gave me whole milk in my latte.
5 minutes after my first sip of latte, my stomach cramped BAD. Not the “Oh! time to poop!” kind of cramp but it felt like someone had stabbed me with a knife and twisted it. Now I’ve had this happen before so I knew the cause of it. I went up to the barista clutching my gut screaming at her that she put dairy in my latte rather than soy LIKE I REQUESTED. She denied it and called me a “pretentious white girl for wanting soy”and so my friends got the manager. I had to explain that I had stomach ulcers that were still healing and if I were to go to the hospital for this incident, they would be responsible for it.
Manager flipped his shit and the barista was terrified out of her mind. Pretty sure both thought i was gonna sue. Manager actually fired her on the spot because of the negligence. My friends managed to get me home in one piece while I stayed home for 3 days in absolute agony and missed my midterm.
So remember kiddies, if someone is asking for Diet or “Skinny” or “soy” or anything that is not regular, give them what they requested because it may not be them being healthy, but a dietary need that can possibly be life or death
I will never let myself scroll past a picture of Walt and not reblog it. I feel like I’d be dishonoring him, and he’s just done so much for me that it’s just not right.

EVERY TIME SOMEONE BRINGS UP THE LIBRARY OF ALEXANDRIA I GET SO ANGRY.
Because it got burned. All of that knowledge, lost forever.
The library was destroyed over 1000’s of years ago. The library consisted of thousands of scrolls and books about mathematics, engineering, physiology, geography, blueprints, medicine, plays, & important scriptures. Thinkers from all over the Mediterranean used to come to Alexandria to study. Most of the major work of civilization up until that point was lost. If the library still survived till this day, society may have been more advanced and we would sure know more about the ancient world.
That graphic grinds my gears every time I see it
romans.
Julius Caesar to be precise
Remember this when you’re conquering. Keep the books.
THIS HURTS MY HEART SO MUCH EVERY TIME ITS BROUGHT UP
Julius Caesar needs to be stabbed for this
I know we should totally stab Caesar
Does March 15th sound good for everyone??
If we’re going to do this, we’ll have to hit the Temple of Divus Iulius and dig up his remains. Who’s game?
Some say the library did not perish in fire, but in the icy cold neglect of government budget cuts and a de-prioritization of education, learning and knowledge.
“Though it seems fitting that the destruction of so mythic an institution as the Great Library of Alexandria must have required some cataclysmic event … in reality, the fortunes of the Great Library waxed and waned with those of Alexandria itself. Much of its downfall was gradual, often bureaucratic, and by comparison to our cultural imaginings, somewhat petty. For example, the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius Antoninus suspended the revenues of the Mouseion, abolishing the members’ stipends and expelling all foreign scholars. Alexandria was also the site of numerous persecutions and military actions, which, though few were reported to have done any great harm to the Mouseion or the Serapeum, could not help but have damaged them. At the very least, what institution could hope to attract and keep scholars of the first eminence when its city was continually the site of battle and strife?
[When it was finally destroyed] … This was not Ptolemy’s great collection, nor was it the center of scholarship in what was then the modern world. It was a broken-down remnant of its former self, neglected for centuries. The collection was mostly stocked with materials that reflected what Judeo-Christian bureaucrats would have considered important; these materials did not reflect the Greek ideal of universal knowledge that had birthed the library in the first place.“
I still think we should hit Caesar just to be safe.
I’d like to make a non-eurocentric addendum to this wherein we recognize the secondary tragedy of the destruction of the House of Wisdom in Baghdad and its impact on the rest of the world– where is that in the timeline??? Oh right, that’s where the shitty graph says “Christian dark ages.” The destruction of the Library of Alexandria had implications of a massive scope, but the Islamic World was making a huge name for scientific advancement well into the “Medieval Ages.”
Who’s up for building a time machine?
Weekly Spreads
When I started bullet journaling I decided to skip the weekly spread and just stick to the monthly and daily spreads. However, I needed something in-between that, but I am not the kind of person to plan out everything in extreme detail.
So eventually I came up with the perfect weekly spread for me.
The left page is the non-academic page.
Food Log: where I will scribble down what I eat. I just like keeping track of it. Plus knowing that I will have to write it down sometimes stops me from eating bad foods
Steps: were I will record the amount of steps I take everyday, counted by my fit bit. This is to motivate myself to achieve my record of 11,000 steps a day.
Goals: these are some non-academic goals that I want to achieve. For example writing a certain amount of blog posts, of posting pictures to Instagram or Tumblr.
Mini Calendar: this is super helpful to know what week I am in and future week, and what day a certain date is. I do not record anything here just have a layout of the month and highlight the current week.
Tasks: Any non-academic tasks that I hope to complete that week.
On the right side is the academic page.
Forgotten: Assignments and school related tasks I should have completed in previous weeks, but is still relevant.
To do: what assignments I have to do this week.
Next week: The assignments due next week, in case I have time left over and I want to get ahead.
Prep for Final: anything I plan to do to prepare or start final projects and papers, or assignments in the future.
Due Dates: Any day that has homework due, or I have an event will be recorded here.
New: Anything assigned during this week belongs right here.
hi! because of my english [foreign language] teacher at school, i’ve had a lot of experience with mind maps. they’re a very useful tool i’ve found for studying, + i’ve developed a personal strategy to making them that i wanted to share with you guys! imo, there’s no right way to making one, this is just what i’ve found works better for myself, u can always adapt it + see what suits u better!
why should i make mind maps?
they’re a great way to connect ideas, summarize information + link concepts in a very visual way! so, great for visual learners but other types too
they are very customizable + u can include pics, drawings, symbols, colours, different arrows, etc etc
they can give you an overview of large a subject at once while also holding lots of information
because of the point above ^^^^ they can save u lots of times when reviewing bc u don’t need to read your [long] notes over + over, just glance at ur mind map and make the connections in ur head
when u make a mind map it helps understand info at a deeper level than when [traditional] note taking + remember it better
mind mapping essentials
first of all, as usual, u don’t need lots of expensive + different coloured pens + highlighters!! just one black pen + a few colours [optional but preferred] should do, or u can use pencils or whatever u have!
blank paper is great but u can also use graph paper or anything u prefer, ir you’re like me and can’t write straight in a white piece of paper
other tools like a ruler can be great help too, use what u feel comfortable with
1) making the draft
first i usually make a draft in pencil so that i can get a sense of how much space everything takes up + it doesn’t matter if i fuck up. when making this i write everything i will later not caring so much abt the ~aesthetic but i try to write neatly so it takes up the same space as later
i usually start with the topic in the center of the page because it lets you branch out all around it, but sometimes i’ve found it better to write it at the top depending on how much info i have + how i want to organize it. write the topic in big handwriting so it stands out
define what ur subtopics are + write them all around your main topic, connecting them to it with arrows
start branching from each subtopic using key words, not full sentences/paragraphs. connect the key words with each other if suitable.
u can write connectors in the arrows so it makes more sense; this helps you really condense the information + figure out what’s important + what’s not
try not to include examples unless they’re very crucial
2) making the mind map
after finishing the draft, see if u need to move anything bc of space or if there’s something unnecessary that u can remove
start rewriting the mind map using fancy fonts, different types of arrows, colour coding, anything that u find useful or just to make it prettier
if u end up with any blank spaces u can fill them with diagrams, little drawings to illustrate what u wrote + help u remember better afterwards, printed pictures that u can glue, or even some cute washi tape [if u have washi tape, which i don’t so it’s not necessary]
and that’s it! u have ur mind map ready! congrats!
personal tips + advice
make a draft first if u have the time only - to me it’s better because while i’m redoing it i’m already studying, but it can be time consuming
it doesn’t matter if ur mind map is pretty or messy, has drawings or not, has colour coding or it’s all in black ink as long as u understood everything u wrote down + it helps u study
if u don’t have different colour pens u can make some words bold/bigger/underlined to make them stand out, use different fonts, circle titles or draw a cloud around them, use banners etc etc
if u do use colours try not to overdo it + use colour coding creating a key: for example, blue for the main topic, light blue for subtopics and light green for any other words that u want to make stand out
don’t use too many different fancy fonts either, choose one or two that compliment each other and stick with them! [cursive + lowercase, then everything else with ur normal handwriting]
don’t write long sentences or paragraphs bc u may end up feeling like ur just rewriting ur notes - key words + abreviations are ur friends. this way, you’ll have to think about what you’re doing and it’s easier to connect different concepts!
if taking time to make the mind map super pretty w lots of drawings helps u, do it! if it doesn’t, don’t! it will still do its purpose!

thank you for the mention! what a great masterpost!!
This post was requested, so here we go! If you have a topic you’d like me to cover, just send me an ask :)
Success in math class is based on a combination of three things: effort, time, and resources.
1. Effort
Work through EVERY practice problem that is assigned/suggested for your class
If you’re not told to do any, go through your textbook and work through a bunch
Usually doing 20-30 problems per topic will get things to stick really well
The goal is to overlearn! If you can do really hard questions, the basic ones will be super easy and you’ll have tons of confidence with them
If you don’t have a textbook, google the topic you’re working on and “practice problems” and some should come up
When you go through problems, check your answers. If it’s correct, awesome! If it’s incorrect, reflect on where you might have made your errors, then try the problem again. Work through the problem until you figure out how to get it right
This process of repetition and trial-and-error will help you learn things most effectively
(You can always skip it and go back during your next study session if it becomes too frustrating)
Don’t give up if a section gets difficult!
2. Time
You should expect to spend at least 2 hours outside of class for every hour you spend in class per week (in university)
(This amount really depends on the difficulty of your current topic and how long you take to to get through problems)
In high school it most likely won’t require as much time, since more is taught in class, but if you’re in a particularly difficult section, you may need to try to get in a little more practice time.
Don’t try to cram all of your problems into one study session the night before an exam!!!!!
Do a section or half a section of problems per day to pace yourself so you don’t get overwhelmed.
3. Resources
Sometimes these two things alone aren’t enough, and that’s okay! It’s totally normal to need a little extra boost in math classes (and school in general).
Check to see if your school has math tutoring (quite a few have it for free!)
Go to your professor’s office hours for help- they want to help you do well!
Ask a friend for help.
Look online for resources! (most are free)
Khan Academy
Shmoop
Math.com
CyMath Problem Solver
Algebra Calculator
Other Tips
Try helping out some people in your class with their homework, if you can! If you’re able tor eteach it to someone else, you most likely understand the topic right well.
If you’re a visual learner, Kahan Academy is a lifesaver. He works through problems and color codes number so you can actually see how and why the 3x becomes -6xy in the next step.
Don’t save everything for the night before the test!!!!
Work through the practice tests in your textbook for whatever topic you’re covering once a week so you can apply a combination of skills at once.
Do these practice tests again before an exam.
This will also help you stagger your learning more so you don’t have to cram before a test!
