Weekly Album Review Thread 9/14-9/20 Miracles do happen! I never thought I'd find some of the albums on this list so I'm grateful even for the ones I wasn't a huge fan of. - Pas De Chat and Bon Chic's albums are early 90s goodness. I am definitely interested in checking out the rest of their discography is able - I'm going to get a little heat for my ranking of Ai's debut album but something about the vocal direction just didn't hit for me. - I checked out Hideki Andoh's debut and his third album because I couldn't find the one I was really looking for (which thankfully changed) and despite not enjoying both a ton, I can definitely see the growth in his 3rd album. - There's a random american rnb group on this list but I figured I might as well slip them in as their album also isn't on streaming and it was pretty decent. I'm hoping i can check out some more korean albums next week but I haven't had as much luck with finding them as the japanese ones on my list of things to check out.

Weekly Album Review Thread 9/14-9/20 I'm surprised by how consistent I've managed to be with this. I think I have about 2 more weeks until I finish clearing my backlog. As usual, a few highlights - Tyler and Mao Denada's albums are considered classics amongst j-rnb fans but I found myself disappointed by the vocal direction and a few stylistic choices. The best way I can put it and this is not shade is that the girls are drawing inspo from brandy when they should be drawing inspo from janet. The production is great though and hard carried both albums into the middle tier - I have become a KICK THE CAN CREW superfan. I highly enjoy the combination of 2 MCS + 1 DJ. I feel like its such a great balance when it comes to hip hop and I wish it would become a mainstream thing again because a lot of rappers could benefit from a highly skilled dj on the roster. - DJ Tonk and DJ Muro's albums are the definition of contrast. I absolutely loved DJ Tonk's album and DJ Muro's made me mad because frankly he's not as good a rapper as he is a dj and he's on about every single track ruining my vibes. - Satomi's album should NOT have been 21 tracks. There's a big debate amongst music fans whether more tracks on an album is good or bad and I am firmly against it. I find that many artists do not have the range to pull off such a long track list. The only time I want to see 15+ tracks is on a BEST OF. I think the album would have highly benefitted from trimming some of the filler. I probably have a few more thoughts but that's it for now. I'll be back again next week~

Weekly Album Review Thread 9/7-9/14 This week was a little different. Instead of downloading newer albums, I circled back to ones I downloaded but forgot to listen to in full. As before I'll give a few key points instead of full on reviews for each. -Sobangcha's album was a disappointment. I downloaded it after hearing one song and ended up only liking that song. - I'm really glad that I revisited Soul Kitchen by EPO as I remember skimming it years ago and it not clicking for me but after some time, I enjoyed it more than expected. - It's a real shame that Dragon Ash's album isn't more widely available as its unique blend of rock and hip hop is refreshing even today. - I need to obtain a copy of Jazz Brat by Monday Michiru immediately! It instantly became a classic to me and I just love that title. - Love Tasha (Yoon Mi Rae's) more hip hop focused album that came out not long after her debut which strangely is on streaming but this one isn't. Other then a few questionable lyrical choices the album is about perfect and has great features with Sakura, Double and DJ Hasebe. Next week I'll be returning to checking out newer albums as well as a few albums I somehow yet again missed in my collection-

Weekly Album Review Thread 8/31-9/6

On a mission to get through my not on streaming playlist. Hope I can keep this up. Not going to ramble about each album but give a few highlights

CIRCUS by SHY is an absolute hidden gem. I can't recommend it enough. It's a shame that it's so hard to find online.

I really like Shinji Harada's vocal tone but the album was filled with cheesy early 90s music tropes. I'm hoping his later albums will click with me more.

Absolutely obsessed with The Jerry Lee Phantom. Their blend of punk with elements of disco is so good!

I liked Sayoko's album way more then I thought I would. I'm not usually into japanese reggae but the way things were blended was nice.

Sly Tribes is stellar. Was not the album I was looking for but I went ahead and listened anyway and definitely don't regret it.

That's about it for now. If anything else relevant comes up, I'll edit my post.
