I wish it were more common to have "bilingual" stories. By that i mean stories where it's important that 2 or more languages are spoken throughout. There isn't any translation, there's just multiple languages spoken by the characters. I understand why this is seldom done considering how heavily limiting it is to the number of people who can actually read or watch it. But idk I think the world would be better off with some stories like that.

Many of us live bilingual lives. What those lamguages are, what they mean to us, the historical and political state of those languages, are very very important! So at some point I think it would be nice to write something that is simultaneously English and spanish, and there would be a pretty sizable number of people who could read that.

A story like this would probably be impossible to translate into a third language though, for obvious reasons. Which i feel conflicted about, because I on one hand believe that all art should be in all languages and have as many accessibility options as possible. But I also think this specific type of story *needs* to be in those languages and removing one or swapping them would miss much of the point. Hrmmm...

I DO NOT TRUST VIBES BASED CODING.

Sure, it might get you a quick fix in the moment, and yeah... like OP says, you feel productive...

...BUT YOU ARE NOT CODING. THE MACHINE IS. AND THE MACHINE DOES NOT UNDERSTAND HOW TO OPTIMIZE OR ADD COMMENTS TO EXPLAIN THE CODE.

I've written macros in Excel for work. I could not have written them on my own. I used the 'record macro' function, where I do a thing on the spreadsheet, and Excel records it in visual basic coding.

I then look over that code to figure out how to do what I did with mouse and keyboard but in pure code.

I've written an inventory management system that color coordinates, sorts, and organizes listings for our work orders. I did not use AI, I used the 'record macro' feature and a shitload of web searches "Excel 365 visual basic [insert desired function here]".

It was grueling. It took hours to what I'm sure experts would have been able to do on their own in no time.

It broke when someone decided they wanted to update the quality of data in one of the sources I use and I had to go back and add in error catching and a subroutine that re-configures that data into something usable.

I was able to do it myself. I didn't need to comb through shitloads of AI written garbage. I've commented and annotated my code so if someone who knows visual basic needs to come in behind me and do something to it, they will know what all I'm doing.

I hope this trend continues.

I hope people give up on AI coding as the primary source.

Sure, it might be helpful in a pinch to figure out --A-- function, but then you can take that result, take it apart, figure out how it works, and rewrite it BETTER.

Do not let these tools take away your ability to think.

yeah in my experience the real issue with trying to "crack" someone's egg is just psychological reactance / pathological demand avoidance. evil psych terms but the whole thing of "when someone tells you have to do a thing it sucks and makes you kinda wanna do the opposite".

of course in a lot of ways this is a non issue because you can just talk to people about it and this stereotype that trans girls go around ordering people to "transition or else" is largely a fabrication. but there is still something to be said for actually helping people come into themselves as best as you can and that usually means trying to avoid causing adverse reactions by being too blunt or forceful in my experience

there's also a whole world out there demanding ppl stay cis and nobody seems to talk about that but alas
