The negative discourse around Good Omens 3 is bugging the shit out of me because it was LITERALLY Terry's dying wish to have this story told.

The ending he wanted decades ago.

Roommate and I were watching Gary and Richie leaned in the window and kissed Mikey and the shot lingered on Mikey's reaction.

And my roommate said 'oh no'.

And I paused the show and said, with my head in my hands "Did we ever hear of Michael dating any women ever?"

The relief and laughter at 'if he's involved he'll fuck it up' haha like maybe he doesn't have to worry he's losing Richie after all.

This whole Noah Wyle hate campaign stuff is feeling veeeery much similar to the way neurotypical people treat autistic people who don't emotionally respond the way they expect or anticipate.

Yes the guy doesn't seem to have made many friends on sets and jobs. You know what he has done? Hyperfixated on ways to help the medical community and actors through strikes, the pandemic and has learned an incredible amount about medicine and even owns a company that produces fake blood for film sets and dedicates his time to promoting the struggles faced by people who work in healthcare.

I'd bet you dollars to donuts he's just an autistic bro with his special interests and his job and quiet home life and he doesn't understand what people are yelling about half the time and doesn't care to concern himself with it.

Yes one of the actors from the show isn't returning but that reflects the actual struggles of people to cope in the ED.

Dude EVERYONE on that show struggles. In fact the whole place is held together by the most capable women of colour, without whom the ED could not run. Robi himself is falling apart all season. Mohan leaving might be the most same and healthy thing for her to do because the healthcare system tends to chew people up and spit them out, it's to show how we lose good people because the work environment doesn't support workers.

I'm tired of us treating anti-social or private people like they owe the world an explanation. Since when is being a loner a major character flaw?

Something to consider when wondering why certain characters or names of things etc are missing from Good Omens 3.

If the character or concept wasn't in the original book then it's not owned partially by Pratchett's estate and is a sole creation of Gaiman. Therefore is probably his intellectual property and tptb either can't/won't/don't want to use it for moral and legal reasons. Using his characters etc when he's not involved could potentially open them up to a lawsuit which no one wants.

Which means no Maggie and Nina, no give me coffee or give me death, I'm not even sure how we have Muriel to be honest! But I'm glad we do.

It could also explain the shortened runtime of the finale, as any plots introducing or including Maggie and Nina would have to be scrapped, flashbacks to any historical scenes that weren't in the book taken out and the plot re-written down to the original intended ending as fairly bare bones.

I know people are frustrated, but if you want an NG-free ending this is what we have.

I'm stoked we got an ending at all and very grateful to the creators that made it happen.

my brain has subconciously decided that tiktok is “unhealthy” but tumblr is “healthy” which i dont think is entirely true but i kind of like the idea.

Tiktok/bytedance uses algorithms similar to meta/Facebook created and tested by Cambridge analytica that are designed to identify, cater to and then control your emotional wellbeing in order to sell you products and keep you scrolling.

In tests it was shown that Facebook could actually cause depression and serious mental illnesses in it's users based on what they saw on their feed.

Tumblr recognises hashtags of content you post and interact with and shows you more of it. That's about it.

It feels healthier because it literally is.

Showrunners getting mad than fans are interpreting their canon with more insight and depth than they ever did when making it is such a weird thing to me.

'Stop liking this thing more than I do, I made it and I don't understand why you like it so much and I also don't care to try to understand.'

This is where fandoms excel, categorisation. Mad shoutout to the multiple subcategories of Sherlock Fandom who managed to differentiate which universe, media and characters they were referencing with their different shipnames, they KNEW the BBC Sherlock needed a different fandom ship name to differentiate it from the traditional ACD canon universe and movieverse ships and thus, johnlock was born. Genius.

I've tried so hard to be normal about Heated Rivalry. I've almost succeeded through sheer force of will.

But how am I supposed to be normal when Ilya is trying to hold back tears of joy and frustration because Shane lay awake next to him in his cottage while Ilya slept and he formulated a plan for them to be together forever WHILE honouring the memory of Ilya's dead mother.

Shane, who Ilya already loves, is so perfectly steadfastly in his devotion to Ilya and his quiet consideration and it makes Ilya's heart wanna explode and all he can do is hold back tears and kiss Shane over and over muttering how much he loves him in Russian until finally he can't hold it in anymore.

"I love you"

And he SAYS IT LIKE A SOB. LIKE THE EMOTION HE CANNOT HOLD IN ANYMORE.

And Shane reacts with shock and while you think he might, Ilya doesn't panic. He's been here before. Extending a gesture of love and connection and being met with fear and resistance. So he lowers his eyes with resignation and begins making his excuses.

And isn't that even worse? Like... Ilya isn't surprised at potentially having an outright love confession rejected. When Shane is the only person he has left by his own admission.

And then Shane says it back.

"I love you too."

Give Connor Storrie all the awards because the way he SLUMPS into Shane with years worth of relief because he has been holding himself back for so fucking long...

"Fuck Hollander."

And Shane saying it so easily, like it should be obvious. Like it's the simplest thing in the world.

"I love you so much".

GOD I AM ONLY SO STRONG. THERE IS JUST NO WAY TO BE NORMAL ABOUT THIS MOMENT.
