THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS :: UPDATE ( back to school again )

Hopper, in a strange fit of remorse, offered to pay for whatever she needed, so Emma took advantage of his generosity and spent the day before she was scheduled to start school shopping at Melvald's with Jonathan Byers.  Nancy and Steve were both busy and Will was just a few blocks down at the Palace Arcade with the rest of the party, so Jonathan offered to help her while he waited.  According to a small plaque on the door, the store used to be a diner, but the only remnant of its history was the small malt counter near the back, still run by the original owner in his retirement. Most of the parents took their kids in for a quick drink and then would buy something else on their way out.  Melvald’s reminded her of the Dollar Tree back home, aisles packed with generic brand products at lower prices while the Big Buy carried the name brands. She was originally going to head over there, but then Joyce offered her employee discount, and Emma was never one to turn down a sale.

Steve has walked in on Emma singing and dancing alone in the house. Emma has walked in on Steve trying to teach himself DnD in an effort to better bond with the kids.

Emma stared at him, tilting her head forward expectantly, waiting for more information, “Was she hurt? Did she cut herself, or use too much of her powers?” “No, no, she didn’t, she just…” Hopper’s face turned red.  She couldn't believe this.  Emma’s expression twisted into one of disappointment, slightly disgusted by the man’s reaction. “You’re kidding. That’s why you called me here? Because a little girl got her–” “Shush! Hey, whoa!” Hopper cut her off with a wild look in his eye and waving his hands, “Look, I just…” He pinched the bridge of his nose with a sigh, “Sara was too young. She never–” His voice caught in his throat, “I didn’t have to worry about this with her.”

ooooh okay so there are a few answers to this, but the one that really solidifies their friendship, that the two can't help but sing whenever it plays "their song" is Somebody to Love by Queen. You play that you will get both of them doing the karaoke performance of their lives.

And yes, they do sing a duet.

How do they comfort each other after nightmares?

Steve wakes up in a cold sweat, immediately searching for Emma while holding his bat. She brushes his hair back, takes the bat from him and hugs him. Once Steve realizes she's there, he wraps his arms around her waist tightly, almost squeezing the life out of her. She then leads him back to bed and snuggles up close to him until he can hear her breathing. He doesn't fall asleep until she does.

Emma wakes up screaming, thrashing, almost punching and hitting Steve as he holds her tight to his chest, calming her with the sound of his heartbeat. He presses his lips to her hair, then her forehead, grabbing her a cup of coffee--because he knows she's not going back to sleep--and they talk until the sun comes up.

Ten years from now, what random Tuesday are they spending together?

On a random Tuesday in 1997 in Brooklyn New York, Steve is teaching his newest class of young recruits how to stop drop and roll (first and second graders are visiting the FDNY for their local field trip) and showing them how awesome it is to slide down a pole and drive a giant fire truck for his every day job, when he suddenly gets a call from Jonathan telling him to get to the hospital right away. "It's Emma." Steve wastes no time, hijacks an ambulance to get him to the hospital just in time for Emma to scream "It's about fucking time" as she is currently in the middle of giving birth to their first child. Steve rushes to her side, is instantly stressed and then in comes Robin with a bundle of food, coffee, and whatever else she could find in the hospital, rambling about how she didn't know what babies needed so she grabbed what she could. Then ofc, in comes Joyce and Hopper, who were already on their way from Montauk with Will. Steve can tell Emma is getting overstimulated, so he very politely and nervously yells for everyone to get the fuck out of the hospital room. Emma grips his hand and thanks him and several, SEVERAL hours later, they welcome their very first child into the world. A girl. "What should we call her?" Steve asks tentatively, like the baby might break if he breathes on her wrong. Emma shakes her head and rolls her eyes with an exhausted sigh. Her lips twitch up slightly at the small bundle in her arms, the world suddenly slotting into place the way it never had before. "How about Elizabeth?" She chokes out, drawing a furrowed brow from her husband. "Elizabeth Jane Harrington. Or Ellie Jane for short." Steve's eyes glisten, his throat bobbing up and down as he blinks away fresh tears. "Yeah," He coughs out, voice thick with emotion, "Yeah I think Ellie Jane is a great name."

Darkness enveloped her. It was broken moments later by the blaring headlights of a vehicle too large to be Steve’s. Emma froze, still stuck in her unbuttoned uniform and black jeans, grabbing a kitchen knife as her converse squeaked against the floor. She crept closer to the door to get a better look.  Steve always used the garage. So did his mom.  Her heart stopped when she caught sight of the police truck shining like a spotlight directly through the window. A hulking figure stepped out, cigarette in hand as he lit up before he hit the stairs. His knock made her flinch.

Through the Looking Glass Cast List

Apparently this fic has grown even bigger legs and we now have an ensemble cast. So I’d figure I’d introduce them all at once.

Emma Foster: Steve Harrington OC, seasons 1-5. Our main character, from our world, accidentally dimension hopped via magic pond from Montauk. She’s got a lot going on but we love her.

Alec Walters: Emma’s best friend. Love interest still undecided. Season 2-3, Season 5. Does everything he can to track her down and follow her to Hawkins. May or may not be in love with her.

Sophie Nichols: Emma’s real best friend. Nancy Wheeler OC. Seasons 2-3, Season 5. The head to Alec’s heart. She reluctantly follows Alec to Hawkins and hates every second thing of it. Except for the cute girl with the guns ofc. Known Emma since the second grade.

Daphne Munroe: Dustin Harrington OC. Seasons 4-5. From Hawkins’ future, the daughter of Mary Munroe, Holly’s best friend who was taken by Vecna. A conspiracy theorist and absolute nerd too smart for her own good, she finds her mom’s old memory box from 1987 and gets transported back to Hawkins a year before her mom was taken.

Wesley “Wes” Spencer: Will Byers OC. Seasons 4-5. Daphne’s best friend who gets wrapped up in her quest to prove her conspiracy theories correct. Openly gay since he was 14, he’s a skeptic who loves to flirt.

They call themselves the Time Traveler’s Support Group and I love them.
