honestly any time you try to explain an oppression you experience by comparing it to an oppression you do not experience you run the risk of acting like the other oppression isn't as serious as your own, or showing really obvious gaps in your understanding of lived experience and so it's generally best not to do it.
for example, abled people will often talk about mental health stigma in a way that minimizes physical disability stigma. "Anti-depressants are just an accessibility tool! You wouldn't take a person's wheelchair away!"
Well, people take away and destroy wheelchair users' chairs all the fucking time, so it's weird to act like mental health stigma is somehow a bigger problem.
Similarly, non-Black people will routinely use anti-Blackness as a mere metaphor for the prejudice they experience.
"You wouldn't say the n word, so don't use offensive terms like [the o word for fat people, the t slur for trans women]!"
Well people very much do use the n word a lot. That is a pretty significant thing that happens. Why are you positioning it as if fighting anti-Blackness is somehow a settled issue but fatphobia and transmisogyny aren't?
there are more delicate ways to talk about the similarities between oppressions, but you have to have an equally deep appreciation for how both forms of oppression work if you want to compare them and not sound really goofy and entitled. i think it is always important to ask why you are even doing it in the first place. do you think people take the other form of oppression more seriously? do you think it is less of a problem than your oppression? do you think people are more aware of and considerate toward oppressions you have never lived? why do you think that?
