I know I was joking around with the whole power of friendship thing, because it is funny and it is also epic just not in the way you'd expect from a show like this

BUT as many people also pointed out there's a huge potential in it to be unnerving af

Like just the fact that Alice and Celia were straight up laughing while being at gunpoint, it worked well here because it also dismantled Gertrude but just imagine if he was the one about to do something to someone, they can't protect themselves because despite the possible pain they just couldn't feel anything other than happiness

It takes away your freedom and locks you in this bubble in your head that refuses to let you feel real human emotions that would help you with getting over stuff, you can never process things properly if you feel constant happiness

He could get away with SO much by using that power

Gets stuck in the past and makes a random village get way smarter and less violent in a generational sense because I keep smacking people over the head with a stick and telling them that it’s the devil’s metal whenever they try to use lead for something in my presence and there develops a very niche regionalized superstition that an angry warlock will jump out of a tree and beat the shit out of you if you touch lead with your bare hands

I feel like not enough people realize that people under enormous strain act really really fucking Weird

things humans are known to do when stressed:

-hallucinate

-cry over what seems to be small things

-become furiously angry over what seems to be small things

-hit a self destruct button over and over again

-lose all sense of reality

-becoming straight up unable to communicate

-view every situation as life or death

-experience delusions/become vulnerable to irrational worldviews

-perceive hostility where none exists

-become extremely nauseous and/or throw up

-stop engaging in sleeping/eating/basic hygiene

-stop processing sensory input

-process way too much sensory input all at once

-lash out at others/themselves

-and more!

being able to recognize when a human (ie. you or another person) is so stressed out they cannot think clearly is VERY important for conflict resolution and diffusing emotional crisis. highly recommend trying to train yourself at being able to recognize that state of panic- there is a point in which logic and rationality is useless and you have to address the underlying emotional issue first. knowing that saves everyone a lot of pain and struggle.

Dunno if people have talked about this before. But do we think TMAGP Jon died because the archivist took his statement?

What we know.

* TMAGP Jon (and Martin) died roughly 20 years ago (so it could have conceivably been around 1999. I‘d say 25 years is still „around 20 years ago“)

* TMAGP Jonathan Sims and Martin Blackwood both died of a heart condition and a bicycle accident. We don‘t know who died of what.

* Neither TMA Jon nor TMA Martin had heart conditions. Even if they did, why would they have survived it in TMA but not in TMAGP?

* Medical conditions seem to match between the universes. TMA Sam and TMAGP Sam had appendicitis at the same time, TMA Sam only dying of it because of a lack of medical care.

* TMAGP Gerry‘s lack of brain cancer is also explained now. He‘s an external, which propably counteracts that (buddy‘s just so happy he can tell cancer to pls leave, and it does /j)

* The Archivist seems to dislike Jonathan Sims for some reason (in the transcript it „tastes“ the name of „Jon“ almost as if it doesn‘t know whether it identifies with that name itself. It seems to dislike the name „Sims“ very much.)

* It claims not to „be“ Jon, but to „Have his story“.

We don‘t know what the „medical reason“ for people‘s deaths after being statemented by the archivist is. But… It could be heartfailure.

I think Jon was either one of the Magnus Institute‘s chosen kids, who ended up an accidental victim of the archivist. Or… it was simply a wrong place wrong time situation. The archivist needed a statement to feed on, so the Magnus people grabbed the most grabbable thing off the street (a 12 y.o. scrawny kid who wandered off into a side alley (we know kid Jon was prone to wandering so not so far fetched))

My other theory is that the archivist IS Jon but… just what was left of him after getting alchemied, so it no longer identifies with the name. And the „heart condition“ was just a Magnus Institute cover up. Jonny not voicing the Archivist isn‘t a problem for this theory, since this Jonathan Sims would have been a maximum of 12 years old when becoming the archivist, so this could just be his lil whispering kid voice. I feel like the first theory is more supported by the evidence tho. Especially with the archivist saying it „Has Jon‘s story“
