Welcome to my sideblog for sparkles!
A few things before we get started in earnest:
1. The usual rules apply. You can find those on my main blog’s pinned post.
2. This blog WILL have bright colors, glitter, sparkle, multicolored things, fast GIFs, stripes, other patterns, shiny things, etc. I WILL warn for flashing, eyestrain/potential eyestrain, bright light effects, extremely fast GIFs, and very high contrast patterns (mainly stripes and checkerboard). This is because those types of things are the most potentially hazardous to people with photosensitive epilepsy and photosensitive migraines. HOWEVER, because of the nature of the things posted here, this sideblog is not suitable for all audiences. Efforts WILL be made to ensure that POTENTIAL HAZARDS are minimized and accounted for. If you have any issues with GLITTER, SPARKLE, BRIGHT COLORS, GLITTER TEXT, MULTICOLOR IMAGES, OR MOTION, please feel free to block this blog. I won’t even notice. Your health, safety, and comfort are important.
2a. With that said, I truly am committed to making the internet a safer place for all. People with photosensitive epilepsy may only make up a small percentage of all people with epilepsy, but because potential triggers are easy to control with the tagging system and because the stakes are as high as they are, I absolutely WILL be tagging things with the appropriate content warnings when they have a high potential of triggering a photosensitive seizure. I recognize that epilepsy is a real and potentially dangerous medical condition and I do not want to cause harm or death to anyone. All of the above also applies to people with photosensitive migraines, which are not usually as dangerous as seizures but can be in some cases and are always terrible things that I don’t want to cause you.
3. This blog will NOT be posted to every day. However, it will be updated randomly year-round.
4. With the exception of some glitter text (such as the header image and the image on top of this post) and possibly a few other things that I will tell you about when they appear, I have no hand in creating most of the things you will see here. Where possible, I will absolutely tell you my sources. If I cannot find a source, I obviously can’t tell you where the original came from. If someone knows the origins of something you see on here that doesn’t have credit, PLEASE tell me! I am eager to know more about the talented people behind these things!
4. This blog will heavily feature LGBTQIA+ Pride stuff, including Pride flags, colors of Pride flags, messages of support for LGBTQIA+ people, and other such things. If you have a problem with this, get outta here, and get away from my other blogs, too! I’m asexual, gender non-conforming, and an ally to everyone else, so frick off, bigots! I may only be 26 but I’m not afraid to tell people to get off my lawn if they’re misbehaving here.
5. This blog is SFW. There will not be anything sexually explicit, overly suggestive (the most “suggestive” thing you might find here is Rouge from Sonic), bloody, gory, or that otherwise would get you in any more trouble in a workplace than you would get in simply by dinking around on the clock (and, hey, no shame from me - we’ve all been caught on our phones at work when we weren’t supposed to be, and as long as your job isn’t something like driving or factory work where you really do need to always be On Alert, I’m not judging.)

Common warning tags I may use (not in tag form here so everyone can see) and their definitions:
🪩 “Flashing” refers to brief, sudden, intermittent bursts of bright light. Here, this is mainly applicable to visual effects that are or are substantially similar to a strobe light; an image that appears and disappears very quickly, colors that change rapidly, pulsating images or shapes, etc. “Mild flashing” refers specifically to flashing that does not take up a significant amount of space and is not very fast, but still fits the definition of “flashing”. To put this in perspective, if I were to post a GIF of an arcade game in attract mode, this would likely be tagged with “flashing”, whereas a GIF of an entire night sky with a single star intermittently flashing (and said star could be entirely covered up by the finger of an infant), this would be “mild flashing”.
🪩 “Fast GIF” refers to a GIF in which the motion is extremely rapid. For example, a GIF of Sonic the Hedgehog running would be tagged as a fast GIF. I tag these things because some people unfortunately have seizures triggered by viewing rapid motion, even if it isn’t flashing.
🪩 “Eyestrain” is a sort of catch-all for anything that is likely to cause eyestrain. “Potential eyestrain” is when it’s not extremely likely to cause eyestrain but still contains elements that can cause eyestrain. (For lack of any better examples, this is like how, when there’s a “tornado watch”, that means there might be a tornado soon, and when there’s a “tornado warning”, that means there is a tornado right now.)
🪩 “Bright lights” refers to bright light effects.
🪩 “High contrast” refers to images with a high contrast color palette in large sections of the image. This is particularly important for certain patterns in images.
🪩 “Stripes” refers to images with stripes. “High contrast stripes” refers to images with stripes that contrast highly.
🪩 “Checkerboard” refers to a series of differently-colored squares aligned in a pattern similar to that of a checkerboard or Chessboard.
