It's Fiery February 2026 here at the Prompt Foundry!
From disaster to domesticity, fire plays many roles in our world and our history, so let's let let it spark our interest and feed the flames of our creativity in its many forms!
Feel free to combine different days’ prompts with each other, or combine them with other events! Use your favorite characters from media or your OCs, show off your academic chops in the realms of history or chemistry, get autobiographical, make art that’s all vibes, whatever tickles your fancy.
If you use this list, please tag me here @thepromptfoundry, I’d love to see what you create!
Respond to as many prompts as you want or as interest you, don’t worry about missing or skipping any. Remember, this is supposed to be fun!
If you have any questions or musings, check our FAQ, and if you don’t find your answer, shoot me an ask.

The Prompt Foundry is kicking off 2026 with Bejeweled January!
From their pure aesthetic appeal, to their long-storied symbology and associations, the science of how they form to the uses their varying physical properties lend them to, and of course the rich and often fraught histories they have across human cultures, there's so much to explore when it comes to gemstones in art.
Some common associations for each stone are included in the prompt list as a jumping off point, but those are hardly the only directions to go. Dust off the Steven Universe, Deltora Quest, or Sailor Moon villains obsession you thought you'd moved on from. Look up crystal structures and refractive indexes. Wax poetic about color variations. Draw, write, paint with stone-based pigments, break out the pliers and blowtorch to craft some jewelry of your own—create in whatever medium you're inspired to!
Feel free to combine different days’ prompts with each other, or combine them with other events like this past year's Genreuary! Use your OCs, your favorite characters from media, your own experiences, whatever tickles your fancy.

some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, “what’s the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?” and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is “unofficial”, and we know that’s not the right word, but it’s the only word we can come up with…until finally it’s like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is “artificial”.
I’m sorry I don’t have a new Halloween piece this year but I’m so insanely busy I just didn’t have time to make one. This makes me sad because I love drawing an annual Halloween piece. 🥲 I hope you don’t mind a repost of my 2022 one - it’s still one of my favorites! 🖤❤️
Sign ups for the Castiel Big Bang are now open. I'm opening it a week early due to having a busy weekend next weekend. Click the link below to be directed to the sign up and don't forget to check out the rules again.

As there wasn’t an official Kinktober prompt list last year, we’ve put together an unofficial one for 2025, along with an AO3 collection. The graphics were all made by @latte-cucumber, and she's also made a banner that you’re welcome to use for your Tumblr Kinktober posts:
More information
Kinktober is an October prompt challenge that’s been running in one form or another since 2016. There are three prompts for each day in October, and the challenge is to use one (or more!) of the prompts to create something for that day. If you don’t want to use any of the three daily prompts, you can swap them out for the bonus prompts at the bottom of the prompt list.
Our askbox is open for questions about how the challenge works or what the prompts mean.
