hector rivera went through such a tremendous amount of bullshit in both life AND death, it’s frankly amazing. dude is fucking betrayed and murdered by his trusted partner and can’t even avoid his song-stealing ass in his afterlife, can’t reconnect with his dead wife because she still believes he abandoned her and their daughter, can’t so much as look at his fucking daughter for decades because he’s been basically erased from his family’s memory and can’t cross over to the living world, can’t even have a dignified reputation on the land because other people mock the way he (believes he) died, like. this is A Lot and his happy ending is long overdue.

This is a huge misconception for regular Americans. When the government uses the phrase “undocumented” they’re using it incorrectly because if they were truly undocumented then they would’ve be in system. However these immigrants are in the system and they pay taxes, file tax returns and get no benefits that citizens and legal residents get. They also get to see ICE showing up at their doors because the government has their addresses. “Undocumented” just means “without papers,” i.e. a social security card, valid visa, etc. They’re still on databases and whatnot, they just don’t have the documentation that allows them to reap the benefits.
