Two song lyrics that I MAJORLY misheard when I was younger

“Superman got enough anime” in One Call Away by Charlie Puth— the funny thing is that I didn’t even know what anime was when I first heard this song and I still thought that was what he was singing lol. The actual lyric makes much more sense.

“Stay, play that Blink-182 song while we bleed to death in Tuscon” in Closer by the Chainsmokers ft. Halsey— this one was a regular source of confusion for a good chunk of time as I’ve been a big Halsey fan since high school so this was a song that I listened to a lot at one point and do still listen to. Unlike the One Call Away lyric I did actually see this in a Buzzfeed misheard lyrics video, so that was fun. Again, the actual lyric makes more sense but I kinda like the misheard one, it’s funny.

Obviously I'm all for gay rights and stuff but as an aroace person I really wish we would stop acting like certain things are automatically romantic. One example I can think of is with Patroclus and Achilles, people often say that Achilles wouldn't have been so incensed with rage and killed so many Trojans after Patroclus' death if they weren't lovers. And I'm not saying they weren't, but can we not pretend that there aren't people who would do that for their friends? Because there absolutely are. I'm so fucking tired of people who claim that romantic love is inherently stronger or deeper than platonic love because it's NOT.

Also can we retire the phrases “more than friends” and “just friends”? Those, too, inherently push the idea that romantic love is superior to platonic love. They’re different kinds of love, but they should be viewed as being on the same level! A friend isn’t less than a lover.
