It seems like the older I get, the more irrationally angry casual censorship makes me. And it isn't just the "unalive" "grape" alleged filter-dodging vernacular, but the way normal words will be peppered with asterisks, or screenshots will have words like "gay" "hell" "fuck" etc either partially or entirely blurred. Who is this helping? What is the purpose of it, except to reinforce shame and elevate a flimsy perception of purity and safety, however those things manifest. It's so tiresome and I'm sick of it.

reddit white is like the typical racist guy living in a multicultural city with whom every time a nonwhite person enters their FOV they'll whip out the most predictable derisive racist quip like a pokemon shouting its own name. they'll consume nonwhite cultures as theatre but refuse to engage with it on the same level as white culture. tumblr white is like a gated community guy who is so unbelievably insulated from any nonwhite people or culture they'll straight up say wild shit like "well no one told me that dark skinned people didn't have thicker veins! how was i supposed to know that? you can't blame me for that!"

and the reddit white guy does not comprise 80% of the reddit userbase like the tumblr white guy. seriously how does every poll on here consistently hit a 75-85% white ratio. i know most of these bitches are american the USA is not 80% white. how is it so concentrated on this website

Tumblr banned large numbers of the prominent non-white (particularly black) accounts on Tumblr during the periods around 2016 and again in 2020.

Lots of people claimed it was a purge of Russian bot accounts but the fact of the matter is before those ban waves there were prominent non-white groupings regularly advocating racial justice and now this website is several times whiter than it was 10 years ago.

I and any time it's brought up a lot of those white people honestly believe all the banned minority accounts really were Russian bots. I've had white users on this site tell me people I knew irl were actually Russian bots because they would rather believe that than the fact that this site has racist moderation.

In the decade since so many white users have gone even further into their liberal brand racist bubbles where they're self-assured in their progressivism but will have a melt down if you suggest they listen to rap or ride the same bus as a brown person.
