If you love me, you love me in a way I don’t understand.
Salma Deera, "Salt"
I am afraid I will love you forever and we will never be in the same room again.
— Clementine von Radics, In a Dream You Saw a Way to Survive
i love reading, i love thinking about what i am currently reading, i love thinking about what i am going to read next, i love being privileged enough to be able to read, read, read, and read so much that i never tire of it
Everyone is complaining that strong female characters don't (necessarily) have to let go of their femininity to be strong, not enough people are writing pink little psychos
You can make her let out a pained grunt at the end of battle, everyone looks at her worried, "I broke my nail". (She killed 50 soldiers)
"Excuse me, Mr. Blacksmith, I need you to make me a different sword. This one's handle makes my rings hurt my fingers. No, I want to keep wearing the rings, they're pretty"
You can make her get everyone late to a mission because there's no way she's getting her hair wet, she has just gotten it done. They can't leave without her wither, there's no way this mission will succeed without her.
You can make her the best engineer in the program, yes, all of her male subordinates are listening to her ramble about Little Women. What? It's *just* because they want to keep their job, no, they're not enjoying it...
"Omg, this gun is so cute. It will fit perfectly in the purse I saw on that store across the street. I need to get them both. Of course the purse goes in the weaponry budget, it's for the gun, duhhh"
"Be a gentelman and solve it for me" "You're literally the only one in the kingdom who can do this" "Aaaffff, so boring"
You can make her reasonable, you can make her unreasonable, you can make her good, you can make her evil, you can make her sweet, you can make her selfish... Top tier character design, many options. Gimme more pink little psychos
learn from your history (the johnlock conspiracy) or be doomed to repeat its mistakes (byler cut of volume 2)
from a writing standpoint which is the only thing i care about because i’m a grown woman, byler becoming canon in the least 4ish hours of stranger things after years of build up for literally everything else in the show would be atrocious writing wise and not make sense at all.
there would need to be a MASSIVE moment of reflection from mike about being gay, akin and bigger than wills moment in episode 4 but even that moment had years of emotional storytelling behind it. mike doesn’t have that right now. there’s around 4 hours left all together. most of that will be dedicated to defeating the big bad and tying up things like max’s coma. where do people expect the hours of writing and revelations and hard conversations between SEVERAL characters that would change so many dynamics to happen? i don’t know what people think will happen and the fallout will be so shitty to watch all around
i really just don’t understand what they expect to happen when directly on screen there’s been zero hints of mike returning wills feelings. in fact there’s been pretty heavy handed (but extremely sweet, i cried at robins speech) proof of otherwise. you cannot use supposed sub text etc and say thats proof it’ll happen for a show as heavy handed as stranger things.
this is a show that has lines directly explaining things we’ve seen five minutes before over and over and also is known for severe, clear on screen build up before making any relationships canon (jancy, jopper). even robin and vickie, a relatively more background relationship had way more hints (not posters in the back and theories of gates or whatever) in the small time it was given pre canonisation
i’m not even massively into mileven. i just hate how non media literate this whole thing is making people look and act and how awful the fallout will probably be all around. stranger things is a silly mediocre mainstream show!!! it’s not a masterpiece of subtext and hidden meanings behind every line!!! and that’s so okay. it doesn’t need to be. it’s fun, emotional and nerdy and just has a lot of care put into each scene. that again does not mean there is hidden meanings, it just shows the dedication of all of the crew to make the show feel the way it does
and for the record, ship what you want regardless of canonicity. that’s like 90% of the fun. it’s so harmless when you know it’s an au or whatever and just enjoy the show regardless of your ships presence. idk when fandom culture lost that (is is klance? it’s usually klance)
i was so much more right than i thought possible.
just a mess.

does anyone have any advice and stuff for how to speak out against a past abuser? idk i’m worried because he’s gaining a pretty big platform and it feels like i’ll be beaten down regardless
nice idea unfortunately i am the angel from the bible so
wow both new frankenstein movies look great
I love reading classic books because I get part way through one and I suddenly realise that despite its prevalence in pop culture, I don't actually know what it's about, or how it ends.
and that is great. because then I get to read the rest of it and then, finally, I sit there and I go "oh, fuck, THAT'S why it's a classic!"
*me at the club* so does anyone wanna discuss queer undertones in classic literature?
how to NOT explode?????
i love when tragedies are like “the love was there. it didnt change anything. it didnt save anyone. there were just too many forces against it. but it still matters that the love was there”
