lmao....I just noticed that since the last time I was here I have about 600 more followers and I think they’re all bots.  Tumblr.  What the heck.

I accidentally logged into tumblr again and immediately saw posts for five different fandoms I need to catch up on and arhgjkhfjgkdf.  I haven’t seen any of the new Marvel stuff (and by new I mean anything after Endgame lmfao help) and I don’t know WHAT’S going on in Batman land but it’s A Lot.  

Damian was de-Robin’ed and now he has a Robin solo coming out, Bruce showed his dick in Damned i guess, idek what’s going on with Tim, Nightwing had a glamrock redesign, there were a billion Jokers, Jason and Babs made out, Alfred is either a pirate ghost or a spy, and that’s only what I know from skimming the shelves when I go to the comic store.  

God, idk what I even want to read, but I’ve missed all the Joker events (meh), the various Metals (interested, but too confused to know where to start), all of the Punchline stuff (no thanks), Future State (really interested, but also apprehensive because I have no trust), and whatever the heck has been happening in Nightwing, Outsiders, and Batgirl.  It’s too muuuuuuch.

I’m uh...I’m just gonna go back to reading bad Witcher fanfic and avoid all of this, as well as all the fic I can’t seem to finish writing. *retreats back into the cave of avoidance*

Here’s my take on the Batfam!

It took me absolutely forever to make all of these, but I worked nonstop to finish them this week and I’m really proud with how they turned out.

I think the question is whether Jaskier is inserting himself into the song, e.g. "I'm weak my love and I am wanting" AND talking about Geralt. Not whether the song is about Geralt and Yennefer, which it obviously is. The subtext would be how Jaskier fits into the song.

Who would the “I” be in the song if not Jaskier, though? If it’s not meant to be Jaskier, that’s so confusing because I can’t think of any other explanation. 

Maybe people are reading this as a pop song, where pov can be weird.  There’s a “her” and a “you” and an “I” in “Dog Days Are Over,” too, but idk how any of it ties together.  Who did happiness hit like a train on a track was it Florence was it the Machine?  We’ll never know.

But Jaskier is a bard and when he sings in the first person, it's from his pov as a character in the story. The speaker is bamboozled by love and accepting his penance, which fits Jaskier’s side of things. Who else could it be?

The Batfamily in the late 2000′s was such a hot mess and Dick ESPECIALLY needs a medal for all his hard work.

My man was trying his absolute best to fill the Batman’s role after Bruce’s death in both The Justice League and Gotham city, while keeping an eye on fresh-out-of-the-league-of-assassins Damian who would beat villains half-to death with a crowbar every time he takes his eyes of him for 1 minute, while keeping (half) an eye on Tim who was having 3-7 nervous breakdowns a day while searching trash cans all over the world for clues about Bruce being alive, while keeping an eye on Stephanie who frankly didn’t know what the hell she was doing and just jumped into things hoping she would wing it and while keeping an eye on Jason who was literally in jail trying to dig a tunnel or something to escape.

While mending the shitshow relationship GCPD had in the past with Bruce’s Batman.

While slowly helping Damian with his issues.

While Joker and Two Face fucked off, and though it’s not quite contextualized, possibly because he was IN that Bat suit.

While indirectly being the reason why Gotham’s Sirens Selina, Ivy and Harly were on the fairly good side of the vigilante gig, because he chose to let Selina handle things on that end, being the smart, communal minded Batman.

this made me 1) laugh really hard and 2) finally notice that they’re showing 2012 Loki what he got up to in an alternate timeline.  Which is both interesting plot-wise and hilarious considering what his other self HAD been up to.

Ok I’m confused.  I finished The Witcher last night (loved it btw, even through my immense confusion about the timeline and magic system), and I went a-looking for fandom content.  And I keep seeing people -speculating- over whether Jaskier’s song in the dragon episode is about Geralt?

But?? that’s not even subtext, it’s undeniably about Geralt and it’s clearly not meant to be interpreted any other way.  Unless I’m wrong??  I’m so confused, who else could ‘gorgeous garroter’ be referring to?  

Jaskier even says something like ‘is the metaphor landing or is it too cerebral?’ as if he's worried people won’t get it while it’s assumed the audience does.  But apparently not?  Am I the one not getting the metaphor?  If it’s more like...he’s warning an unnamed girl not to be seduced by the female personification of Love, or w/e, that would definitely be more cerebral than his usual.  But...he’s a bard.  It doesn’t make sense for the show to be like “okay all the songs before this one were stories based loosely on reality, but this one’s just a metaphor, hope you caught that even tho we’ve done nothing to indicate the difference.”

I just watched the show, I don’t really ship anything yet so it’s not about that, I’m just genuinely confused.  The song is an almost literal retelling of the events and themes of the episode--it’s like a showtune (which is hilarious btw).  To me, people being like ‘who could this song be about??’ and ‘it’s about Geralt I know it!’ is like people arguing over whether or not “On My Own” is really about Marius.

I don’t understand?  Did the show’s staff/actors say it had a different meaning?  Or maybe the comments and things I saw were outliers and I just happened to find all of them at once idk.  Like, how is the fandom even more confusing than the show.

I watched The Witcher and I really want to see a version from Jaskier’s POV because he experiences life as a broadway musical where he’s the only one spontaneously bursting into song about his feelings.
