Pity is Not Sympathy

 Most people would not expect a sudden visit at nearly 9:00 pm at night especially from the agency that is responsible for the protection of children. The worker was there with a tight grip on the teen that kept trying to back away from the house. The teen was rather in poor condition, under weight and covered in bandages.  He still had the bracelet from when he was in the ER for a while.  His behavior and mental health was in a worst state. Although the worker usually cheerful and understanding had reach her limit with him, being with him since 1:00 pm and the stress of trying to find a foster parent who currently take children in was nearly impossible due to the extreme shortage in the town.  

“ Fuck…” The worker mutters to herself before ringing the door bell several times,while trying to keep hold of the teen. Tough she be in real trouble if he refused to take in the child as they often only did children or infants, but teens were often harder to place, sometimes they ended up homeless from running away.

    One of the harder things about working as a foster parent were the late night calls where some sort of emergency had happened. Most times, they broke his heart. Ixto would receive children on his doorstep crying and devastated. More often than not they lead to long nights of trying to be comforting, and getting little ways away from nowhere.

    Tonight was different. Ixto had prepared himself for a teenager, setting up one of his guest rooms appropriately. The arrival came in the form of the loud sound of the doorbell repeatedly ringing, causing Ixto to flinch and cringe, covering his ears as he made his way to the front door. Ixto made a mental note to disconnect the wiring in the doorbell, as it was starting to drive him just a little bit insane.

    “Good evening, and welcome!” Ixto smiled a bright and chipper smile as he opened the door and stepped aside for them both to come in if they chose to. “There is tea ready if you would like a cup, and– Oh fates, I’m so sorry, I’ve forgotten the name of our young guest. Can you tell me your name?”

The social worker was quiet when the door answered, her grip on the teen was more forceful as he struggled against her grip. She was tired and stressed her brown hair a mess and bag under her eyes. The worker had to drag the teen inside who only seem interested in escape. 

“ No thank you.” She stated politely before her attention to the teen for it seemed he paused his escape attempts to think.

The teen merely stated rather bluntly with a suspicious glare. “ why would you want to know?’

The teen was rather guarded and suspected the worst. His one blue eye searched for escape options as he had little faith or trust in others. Some would declare him feral with how he behaved, but some psychologist wondered if this behavior was for attention or mental illness and trauma, but after being forcefully admitted to the ER and being restrained it did not help his behavior. The teen did not trust those that claim to helping him, let alone like them. 

“ That is not how you talk to someone offering so much!” The worker lectured before she apologized to the man. “ I am sorry...mr...” She began looking through the papers looking for the name of the care giver. There was now a frown on her face as she only had half of the paper work she was supposed to bring.

The first photo on top is original in game art by Bioware from the game Dragon Age Inquisition the Trespassers DLC and is one of the many Cullen Ruthford but this one is with Inquisition disbanded/no lyrium epilogue art. The other photo the one was art work submitted into a final assignment and was marked and graded as the student’s own work, but to add insult it was put into  student art book which acted as a complication of everyone in the pre-animation programs art works over the two semesters at Algonquin college in Ottawa Ontario Canada. I spoke with one of the teachers and his response was “Too late now.” This is unprofessional and not to mention the art copied is copyright material. I later that night looked up the policy and realized I was lied to and send an email a few responses back with a possibly of action from the school relating to plagiarism, but all communication stopped. This was a problem for the entire year plagiarist stealing art work for assignments either online or even other students in the same program yet no action was taken, I want this message to reach artist interested in Algonquin to see this and pick a better option, but I also want the art community to make people aware of what these supposed art programs are allowing students to get away with. I know many victims of tumblr with plagiarism and possibly your artwork was copied as well. I want people to see this and realize this is not ok to do at all, but when marks and grades are involved its dishonest and ruins the integrity of the program, but if you have no consequences for these types of behaviors you ruin the integrity of a program. I hope Artists and possibly The Artist working for Bioware steps forward to put pressure on schools who allow this to slide.

recently food prices in Canada have skyrocketed due to the low CAD and a struggling economy. it’s estimated Canadian families will be paying $300+ more this year for food. healthy foods such such as fresh produce & meat are becoming especially unaffordable, i.e.: a head of cauliflower for $7…a small package of beef for $10! celery for $5?!

these food cost spikes are hitting low income households hard…( i.e.: ME!! )

personally i’ve noticed food prices having been going up for the last few years but right now it’s totally ridiculous and scary :(

the only good side to this issue is that it might make people waste less and think harder about where their food comes from.
