this probably isn't a can of worms i want to open, but shipping aro/ace characters is not indicative of arophobia/acephobia/queerphobia.

the "excuse" that aro/ace people can have romantic and/or sexual relationships is valid, of course, but a more important point — these characters are not real. there is no orientation of theirs to disrespect, because they do not exist. they're not harmed or offended by people shipping them. if someone writes an asexual character having sex, that doesn't mean they're acephobic. these characters literally do not exist, the situations and relationships they're in do not exist. it is truly not this massive injustice, or this massive act of bigotry against the community. people can write whatever they like with whatever characters they like.

would accurate representations of aro/ace people being in relationships be nice? yeah. should more people explore these relationships in fiction? in my opinion, yeah. but sometimes people just want to write or draw porn with a character they like, and that's completely fine, too. fandom isn't activism, and fanfiction especially isn't.

This is back on my dash! And listen, I love to see Amir Khusrau getting appreciation, but this translation ignores a lot. The original rhymes! And scans! And does playful things with register! And conveys a tone of affectionate banter between the two speakers, not least because it has them both addressing each other as sakhi (translated above as “girl”) in the last two lines. I think taking some liberties with line order is worth it to preserve more of the rest—and I think there’s a better translation of sakhi. And so:

FIRST RULE OF SOLITAIRE: aces are useless. put them on the top right. SECOND RUE OF SOLITAIRE: two's are about as useless as aces. discard them to the ace pile as soon as possible THIRD RULE OF SOLITAIRE: it's hard. FOURTH RULE OF SOLITAIRE: it's really hard; FIFTH RUlE OF SOLITAIRE: you need to make the cards count down. But watch out. You must Alternate The Colours FOURTH RULE OF SOLITAIRE: make if you already have a red king and only have one more spot to add a king do not add another red king. You will lose. SIXTH RULE OF SOLITAIRE: make sure to do every possible move with cards already on the board before adding cards from your draw pile.
