The best explanation I’ve seen with what is going on between low worth crowny with Sally and Imre:
Love is the Death of Duty
People who think Rhaegar’s love for Lyanna is motivated by the prince who was promised prophecy completely misunderstand the ‘love is the death of duty’ theme in ASOIAF.
GRRM describes Rhaegar as a ‘lovestruck prince’ and calls his wedding to Elia a ‘tragedy’. Now this isn't to say that Rhaegar and Elia hated each other but as Barristan puts it, they both did their duty, it was an arranged marriage. They likely cared for and respected each other but they were not in love and thats to be expected in arranged marriage.
Rhaegar dies with Lyanna’s name on his lips. His and Lyanna’s relationship is a subversion of the ‘princess trapped in a tower guarded by a dragon’ except in this the dragon isn't evil and the princess isn't trapped. None of the things that Rhaegar does during rebellion make sense if not viewed through the lense of Rhaegar acting impulsively out of love for the first time in his life. We know Rhaegar was known to be melancholic and this shadow os sadness around him.
Rhaegar viewed the prophecy as his duty since he was a child hence him picking up a sword after reading something in a scroll — but his relationship with Lyanna was the one choice he made that wasn’t about duty. Hence the quote “love is the bane of honour, the death of duty”. There is a reason that this specific quote is said to Jon of all people, because it's about him and his parentage, but he doesn't know it and neither do the readers if they aren't paying close attention. Now whether maester Aemon knows the truth it is a completely different story for another video. People don’t have to like Rhaegar, or his relationship with Lyanna, to acknowledge that fact.
He did not get with her because of prophecy, he got with her because he fell in love and its annoying to see people regurgitate this narrative that he was just trying to make a prophecy baby because then does that not make his love for Lyanna shallow. He calls the tower she's in the Tower of Joy and has her favorite flowers in her room. He loved her. No, it doesn't make sense that Lyanna chose Rhaegar a married man with kids over Robert when she said she didn't like that he was unfaithful, but I think people a lot of people are coming from a place of logic in a story where that's not the point. People don't make logical decisions all the time. And honestly its annoying in all stories when people get mad at characters for not acting logical. What kind of story is being told if everyone acts logical? George is writing about the human heart in conflict of itself and I think Rhaegar and Lyanna is an example of that.
@belladonnafeli
Ladies and gentlemen, this is what happens when you pay more attention to what it's said than what it's done. The lack of media literacy here is disturbing.
"Rhaegar dies with Lyanna's name in his lips." That's from an app that was debunked a long time ago. And you seriously underestimate how traumatized Rhaegar is: Rhaegar was born from failed prophecy and an unwanted marriage, with the fate of a 300 year old dynasty hanging on his shoulders, having to watch his father Aerys succumbing to madness and his mother Rhaella being raped, humilliated and bearing dead baby after dead baby. All that suffering, all that pain, it had to mean something, it had to be for something. That's why he took Lyanna, not out of love or lust, but because he sought to prove that the Prince that was Promised prophecy was real and worth any measure of sacrifice, so that the pain and suffering his family went through was for something.
"It's annoying to see people regurgitate this narrative that he wanted a prophecy baby." And this is the pot calling the kettle black. As if you and your ilk don't regurgitate the "love story" narrative on a daily basis and then turn to scream to anybody who dares to call out the horrible actions of Rhaegar as horrible. No wonder why the fandom hates the Rhaelya shippers, because of the blatant refusal you have to own up about your ship being problematic, instead, you rewrite and contort for the sake of palatability. Shipping is not morality, hypocrisy is. If not, why always you and your ilk draw Lyanna as a 20 year old woman instead of the 14 year old child she actually was?
If it was merely a romantic affair, why not going to Essos? Why leaving the Kingsguard to kill anybody who dares to get close to the Tower of Joy regardless of intent?
Lyanna's last words were begging her brother to take her home and only her bones made it back. And there is no proof of Lyanna and Rhaegar's love story other than the gossip of Barristan Selmy, Jon Connington and Cersei Lannister, neither of them were at the Tower of Joy. And yet you take their gossip as biblical truth.
@cowboysanddragons23 not sure why you feel the need to be so rude on my post when you clearly could’ve disagreed respectfully. I’m presenting my theory on what I think happened based off of the text. If you don’t agree that’s fine, but to act as if we have all the answers on the rebellion when we don’t is funny.“You and your ilk” can we be serious? I’m not a rhaelya shipper I’m providing a different perspective. You can’t shit on my theory and then act like yours is better when we basically are provided the same amount of evidence. The common narrative in the story is that Rhaegar kidnapped and raped Lyanna. And yet whenever rhaegar is thought of by people who knew him he’s never presented in a negative light. Not even but Ned. The first time we get a comparison to Rhaegar is when Daenerys saves a woman from being raped. Am I not supposed to question the rhaegar is a rapist narrative when that comparison happens? We could’ve had a very civil discussion about what really happened as I have before with other people but you come onto my post being rude and interacting with stuff you clearly don’t like just to keep yourself miserable. Your whole page is about rhaegar, how about post about someone you love instead of lurking in tags of characters you clearly hate.
Then why you regurgitate the exact same things the Rhaelya shippers say? Your actions don't fit with your words. The difference between you and me is that I don't lie to myself about what I do or what I ship.
Hating Rhaegar? Nah, just tired of the constant romantization that is done around him. He is compelling as a character and what you are attempting to do is to remove what makes him compelling.
Oh no then I guess you better arrest me? Who gives a shit, fuck off my post and page. Stop talking to people you don’t know like this
I think a lot about the architecture ideas drawn by Étienne-Louis Boullée
They're sketches from the 1780s and they look like the end of the fucking universe

Though I may not know what love is, I know that which love is not, for love is not a violent act, love, when true would never hurt you. ❤️🩹
I love when platonic love and romantic love is so blurred that it doesn’t even matter anymore. All that matters is the devotion that’s there, the unwavering devotion
Art forgery is the best crime tbh. It requires absolutely incredible artistic talent, technical skill, and attention to detail to make convincing fakes. Does anyone get hurt from it? No! The only people who suffer for it are the extremely wealthy who want the prestige of having original paintings in their own homes. It’s full of international intrigue and mystery. Perfect.
Also… art forgers like van Meegeren sometimes become a kind of folk hero. A swindler, sure, but a gentleman’s swindler.
I liked this guy’s story, Mark Landis, who conned several dozen museums into displaying his forgeries, but when the FBI came after him they couldn’t do anything because he had always given them away as donations. They said if they could have found that he’d ever taken anything in exchange they would have prosecuted him, but all he wanted was get to out of the house and meet people.
“The first painting Landis “donated” was a copy of a work by Maynard Dixon, an artist well-known for his paintings of cowboys and Indians. It started as impulse, Landis says, but then “everybody was just so nice and treated me with respect and deference and friendship, things I was very unused to — I mean, actually not used to at all. And I got addicted to it.”” And it looks like all his forgeries are done with cheap materials, like markers and Hobby Lobby frames.
Ok, but Wolfgang Beltracchi is probably one of the best Fraud Artists in the world.
His career brought him millions upon millions of dollars and lasted almost 40 years. He finally admitted to painting fraudulent art after the white paint he used came under scrutiny.
“ Bob Simon: What do you think this Max Ernst would be worth? Wolfgang Beltracchi: This one? Simon: Yeah. Beltracchi: $5 million, I think. Simon: $5 million. And you can do it in three days? Beltracchi: Yeah, oh yes, yes, sure, or quicker” -From a 60 minutes interview with Bob Simon
In The interview with Beltracchi, he said that none of his forgeries are copies, they’re all original works that the famous artists could have painted.
“Beltracchi estimates he has done 25 Max Ernsts. He is not copying an existing work. He’s painting something he thinks Ernst might have done if he’d had the time or felt like it.” - The Con Artist: A multi-million dollar art scam
His wife was also in on the scam, she would dress up in old clothing and take pictures holding the paintings with old cameras to fake proof of the paintings’ ages.
At the end of the interview with Wolfgang Beltracchi he was asked if he felt he had done anything wrong, his answer was “ Yeah, I used the wrong kind of paint”
Just … the levels of con there, the fake photos and … wow. That’s incredible.

Also fun fact we learned in class today: Michelangelo carved a sculpture of a Roman god, broke off the arm, and then buried it. The sculpture was dug up and was considered to be an authentic Roman artefact, until Michelangelo came along with the missing arm and called shenanigans on himself, just to prove he was as skilled a sculptor as the ancient Romans.
honestly mike? chill.
Recall uses AI features "to take images of your active screen every few seconds."
I think every computer user needs to read this because holy fucking shit this is fucking horrible.
So Windows has a new feature incoming called Recall where your computer will first, monitor everything you do with screenshots every couple of seconds and "process that" with an AI.
Hey, errrr, fuck no? This isn't merely because AI is really energy intensive to the point that it causes environmental damage. This is because it's basically surveilling what you are doing on your fucking desktop.
This AI is not going to be on your desktop, like all AI, it's going to be done on another server, "in the cloud" to be precise, so all those data and screenshot? They're going to go off to Microsoft. Microsoft are going to be monitoring what you do on your own computer.
Now of course Microsoft are going to be all "oooh, it's okay, we'll keep your data safe". They won't. Let me just remind you that evidence given over from Facebook has been used to prosecute a mother and daughter for an "illegal abortion", Microsoft will likely do the same.
And before someone goes "durrr, nuthin' to fear, nuthin to hide", let me remind you that you can be doing completely legal and righteous acts and still have the police on your arse. Are you an activist? Don't even need to be a hackivist, you can just be very vocal about something concerning and have the fucking police on your arse. They did this with environmental protesters in the UK. The culture war against transgender people looks likely to be heading in a direction wherein people looking for information on transgender people or help transitioning will be tracked down too. You have plenty to hide from the government, including your opinions and ideas.
Again, look into backing up your shit and switching to Linux Mint or Ubuntu to get away from Microsoft doing this shit.
Steps to Disable or Uninstall 'Recall' in Windows 11 24H2
there are multiple options here depending on how comfortable you are digging into your computer's registry. You can either simply disable it surface level through settings or excise it entirely from the system registry
i love characters who do the “i worship the myth i make of you” and in turn dehumanize and get wrong the object of their devotion and love. yes project a thing that does not exist onto a pedestal and kneel at it like it is your altar. this will surely not blow up in both of your faces eventually

Love love love characters that present themselves as emotionally open social butterflies but the more you see of them the more obvious it is that they’re the most closed off fuckers in the story. Sure, they want to help you with your personal problems and messy emotions, but if you turn that shit back on them, they’ll shut down or deflect every time. Why are you sticking your nose in their business anyway? It’s not like it matters. They’re not a person, they’re just a role being played. They’re the guy who fixes things and saves people. Please ignore the man behind the mask, he’s fine. Everything’s fine.
trope i really like is self-loathing characters desperate for the catharsis of punishment for frankly rather selfish reasons who r also obsessed with repeatedly pressing others into hating them and hurting them as essentially a method of self harm. yes baby continue making it worse for urself and everybody around u instead of doing an actually productive and effective journey of improvement and redemption
