i appreciate the amount of people reblogging this despite me not really tagging this at all. im glad many of people feel the same anger i do.
A sick wizard castle with a nondescript van painted on the side. A gothy pin-up girl with the portrait of a random trucker tattooed on her thigh. A bathroom-themed beach vacation. A beautiful brightly coloured cupcake that tastes like soap.
Jesus with a portrait of my grandma on his wall. A scimitar-wielding fantasy protagonist reading about the adventures of sixth-grader Kelsey. A National Park with a framed print of somebody’s living room.
Not book smart or street smart but a secret third thing.

"No Gas! Reading is not Rationed. Let's Go Read! Kalamazoo Public Library"
[ID: A black and white scan of a card produced by Kalamazoo Public Library with three panels, illustrated in 1940s style: The first shows a person looking at a gas pump with a No Gas! sign hung on it. The second shows the same person walking away with the text Reading is not rationed. Let's go read! The third panel shows the person walking up steps under a grand arch, to the library. Kalamazoo Public Library is typed in all caps along the bottom. /ID]
This is such a neat piece of history, I reached out to Kalamazoo Public Library to try to learn more about it. Ryan Gage at their local history department took up the challenge. He had to do some digging to find it but he persisted and eventually found a trace of it in the library archive scrapbooks! Here's what he shared:
The Reading is Not Rationed card was produced by KPL's director of public relations. This was a two-color card placed in Kalamazoo buses beginning in the spring of 1943. Tire and gasoline rationing meant the trend of local bus travel would be definitely upward.
The library didn't save any copies of the card for their own archives, so it's extra cool to see it preserved here!
Your test results are in, and the bad news is, your body is absolutely riddled with organs.
We gotta get those out of there. They're taking up vital space that we could otherwise fill with cheese sauce. Humans love cheese sauce.
When u the mud and the lotus😒😡
dialectics
Fellas, is it counter revolutionary to eat.
This is a reminder that any insane extreme position can be couched in progressive sounding language to try and persuade you of its validity, even positions that are totally contrary
one thing i wanna say though is data centers being built in rural areas is environmental racism + classism so when i see ppl bitching about locals bitching about data centers im like oh it’s literally because it’s not your backyard being demolished and your air not being polluted and your waterways not being ran dry and your soundscapes not being raised to unhealthy decibels ….
