THE SHAKIMGJMK
I think there should be nerdy gyms and I’m not even joking about that.
Gyms are always marketed around appearance and personal improvement and ~wellness~: lose wait, get hot, eat less! Blah blah blah. They’re soulless and tap into a form of motivation that only works for so long (and is more than a little psychologically damaging for many people)
What if instead, a gym was a place of play, with exercise focused on enjoyment, adventure, and entertainment. It could even be like a D&D campaign:
You’re not running on a treadmill to get hot or whatever - you’re running down a beaten woodsy path to get word to the king that invaders have landed on your shoreline.
The rowing machine isn’t a monotonous repetitive exercise to get muscles. It’s a serious endeavor where you row with your companions to steer your Greek trireme or Viking warship into battle.
You’re not lifting weights - those are packs you must carry in your adventure across remote, hostile countryside
This isn’t an exercise routine. It’s today’s adventure campaign, with several different activities required - scaling a mountain, fleeing a dragon, etc
…and so on.
Because exercise is healthy, but that doesn’t mean it has to be a boring adult obligation. Why force yourself to exercise the same way you force yourself to file your taxes, when you could instead engage in an hour or so of play?
This is a silly post, but I honestly just think serious adults with serious jobs should still have some time on the playground a few days a week.
@bagelsand-creamcheemse you understand my vision 😭
If I could get on a rowing machine with a bunch of other people and sing sea shanties at the same time I can garan-fucking-tee I would be there every day
There needs to be a gym/game arcade hybrid. Like, pure imagination in RPG is fine, but if I could see a magical island getting ever closer while I'm on the rowing machine, or see a fortification get taller stone by stone as I lift, that would be even cooler.
it occurred to me just now that living in horrible turbulent times means that studying your time period is likely to be the boring normie option in the future because that's what everyone studied
"So, I'm really into history—"
"Do you really like history or are you just one of those guys obsessed with the lunar horse war of 2027"
I miss the era where there'd be outtakes to animated movies like toy story or early 2000s barbie movies that shit was hilarious and so wholesome
Moments before disaster.
“how to fix hip dips” “buccal fat removal” “how to appear more attractive to men” “divine feminine” “bbl” “how to fix smile lines” “how to get poreless skin”
Can we acknowledge stomach acid being fucking weird? We have pits of acid in us that sometimes comes out our very delicate throats??? Imagine an alien hits a human in the stomach hard enough to make them sick and thinks they've won, but they get melted by the vomit. And somewhere along the line aliens get convinced that one of a human's defence mechanisms is spitting acid and we have to explain that no, but we have some earth native reptiles that can.
@zombeesknees holy shit
Thank you for the information!

MSCHF Big Red Boots
@creekfiend
unfortunately the designer’s statement actually makes these loop all the way around and become great and cool again:
“If you kick someone in these boots they go BOING!” MSCHF writes. “You never design shoes to be shaped like feet. Big Red Boots are REALLY not shaped like feet, but they are EXTREMELY shaped like boots.”
in case anyone isnt familiar, these boots were made by MSCHF, an art group that does drops of weird stuff regularly that range from just something kinda interesting and quirky to big shit like this. here's some previous hits from them:
lil nas x's satan nikes (which they got sued over)
an ultrasonic jammer to put over an amazon alexa
a blurred stack of money
hard seltzer made with holy water
and the big fruit loop
