This week, I made a quick comic about the overlap of non-binary gender labels and personal my experience trying them on.
Huge thanks go out to @bigendering and eir very informative post (which I slightly borrowed from for the second page, lol), here!
You can also read this (and other stuff) on my comics sideblog: [here]
This is really great!
Hit pieces like "No More Sympathy for Hillbillies" follow a predictable and glib pattern of othering and blame
What this genre looks like is pundits who are almost universally men and almost exclusively white, firing off sleazy ideas about “hillbillies” while doing a very poor job differentiating between Trump voters and the average sort of disadvantaged person who lives in Appalachia or the Rust Belt.
I use the word “average” intentionally because these pieces ignore the fact that most people in these regions — just like the majority of people across the nation — did not vote for Donald Trump. This genre ignores the fact that marches, town halls and protests are happening here just as frequently as in New York.
And this genre trades on a bad-faith sleight of hand that displaces the reality that the average Trump voter is a college-educated white individual of some means, not a “hillbilly.” The sole reason for this genre’s existence is to provide the liberal elite with the means to feel superior to poor people, of all races, without sounding like Jason Chaffetz.
[OP is ambiguous but that’s a quote from the article]

I don’t give two shits about kylo ren or his getting a redemption arc but if it will make general leia “didn’t deserve this” organa-solo happy I will drag his twenty-whine year old greasy pool noodle ass back into the light myself
Finn: You got a family? A boyfriend, cute boyfriend?
Rey: Cute boyfriend? No, you?
Finn: I did, briefly... he died in a fighter crash not too long ago...
Poe, from the Ileenium system: QUIT TELLING PEOPLE I'M DEAD
Finn: Sometimes I can still hear his voice
friendly reminder that leia has lost her adoptive parents, entire planet, father, husband, son and been abandoned by her brother and yet has never been tempted by the dark side even once
take notes skywalker boys ya’ll weak as shit
History has its eyes on you, Rey.

sole survivor: it's kind of embarrassing.
hancock: aw, c'mon, and you're worried about that with a guy like me?
sole survivor: well... i suppose i can maybe talk about it now.
sole survivor: i've...
hancock: yeah?
sole survivor: always wanted...
hancock: yeah?
sole survivor: to be spanked a little.

hancock: is that it
Random Name Thought
So “The Force Awakens” has a lot of stuff going on with names. Finn doesn’t have one at all until he meets Poe, Rey has just one and doesn’t know anything about her family. Kylo Ren replaced his while trying to convince himself he can be as badass as Vader. (Good luck with that.) Poe Dameron is the only person in the younger generation with two names - even Hux and Phasma have just the one we know - and he’s also the only one who knows who he is, what he’s doing, and in general has his shit together.
Meanwhile, Leia is still explicitly Leia Organa, no ‘Solo’ hanging off it. A lot of people assume that Ben’s original name is Solo, and yet there’s no actual evidence for that. When we meet Han, Rey asks if he’s really Han Solo, and his response is “Well, I was.” Sooooooo…. I think what I’m trying to get here is that, if anyone took the other’s name in that marriage, it was Han. People just keep calling him Solo because that’s what he’s famous by.
HAN ORGANA 2K16
In the now-uncanon EU, they hyphenated and became the Organa-Solos.
Note the order of the names. :D
That was just Leia though? I never saw Han called Organa-Solo or any of the kids.
Yeah. Leia was Organa-Solo in the old EU, but the kids were Solo and Han was Solo. The family unit as a whole might have been called “The Organa-Solos” on occasion, though given that the EU frequently involved other branches of the Solo family tree (Ie, Thracken Sal-Solo), that was probably just for clarity, ie, “this refers to Han, Leia, and their mutual children, and not any of those other Solos,” because in the EU, the Solos are this massive Corellian dynasty with like eight branches and a myth about being descended from royalty but really they’re just a bunch of hicks with a family crest.
HAN ORGANA. HERE FOR IT.
Poe: What's up, buddy- you okay?
Finn, lost in thought: It's just...I still don't-I don't have a last name.
Poe: ...
Poe, gets down on one knee: Do you... do you want mine?
han: ben i'm not taking you to hot topic until you clean your room
leia, gently correcting him: han, he wants to be called kyle ron now
kylo, his voice cracking: IT'S KYLO REN
