Halloween starts in August, I donβt make the rules.
βThat moment when you finish a book, look around, and realize that everyone is just carrying on with their lives as though you didn't just experience emotional trauma at the hands of a paperback.β βΒ Jamie Craig.
Havenβt had this in a while, but adding βAn Absolutely Remarkable Thingβ and βA Beautifully Foolish Endeavorβ to the list of books that have changed my perspective on things.
Gift me a book and i will love you for the rest of my life.

When you feel like giving up...
The last time I was really active on here was 2 years ago - I didn't realise it had been that long, time sure does fly. 2 years ago I was struggling with my mental health, crying because I didn't know how I was going to pass my second year macro class, with no plans for the future. But I kept going, I worked and I studied and I asked for help, and I made it past those moments that felt impossible.
Last year, I graduated with first class honours. Today, I'm working at a grad job in a place I always thought was unattainable, I moved across the country, and I get to work on issues I really care about. Things aren't perfect - I still struggle with my mental health, imposter syndrome, and feeling like I don't belong. But I'm so glad I kept going back then.
So if you're thinking of giving up, this is your sign to give yourself a break, re-evaluate, and think towards the future. It's okay to ask for help when you need it. It's okay to feel overwhelmed. But you have it in you, and if you really want to do something, I promise you the struggles along the way aren't as hopeless as they seem. You can do it.

9.6.22 // Aesthetic notes ft. daily Florida thunderstorm
Today is the only day I donβt work between 8-15 hours, so I had to finish my lectures for module 1 and bust out the notes for week 1 lectures. My cat normally hangs out while I do homework since that was our routine since she was a kitten, so naturally she started by tasting my PSL.
As of now, I have a decent hand cramp, so Iβm going to attempt the first knowledge quiz of the module. That is, assuming my building isnβt struck by lightning. βββ
082822. finished this book yesterday and loved it ! i am on a string of good books this summer (hopefully it keeps up) :D
This is still one of my favorite books. Fell in love with it in high school, and I still come back to it in grad school.

i had a great day yesterday seeing some old family friends at the coast. it was a bit of eventful day though because we did a ton of walking over the hills to go to a restaurant and on the way back, i almost got trampled by some cows who were blocking the very narrow footpath home π¬ thankfully it all turned out ok but it was definitely a bit nerve-wrackingΒ

Finished a few books recently, so hereβs one of them. It was βLong Bright Riverβ by Liz Moore. And honestly, I was really excited about this book, but it did not live up to my expectations. I gave it 2.5/5 βοΈ. The issue is that there was no closure at the end. I also feel like it was hard for me to follow along with the storyline because it flipped from βNowβ to βThenβ. Donβt get me wrong, they were marked out, but it would go back to a βThenβ portion that wasnβt even related to what the βNowβ portion I had just read on the previous few pages was about.

Thesis diary #44
So the re-writing of the first chapter of my thesis continues. Thankfully I am getting a bit more into the flow of writing. I am working on each section of the chapter individually, and once I'll be done with these main parts I'll tailor everything so that it flows nicely and is coherent. Since at the beginning of next week I'll hopefully go on a small trip with a friend I want to do as much work as I can before the end of this week. I am hopeful about it, both yesterday and today felt really productive days, and I am really proud of myself for that.
Productive things I did today:
finished reading Stardust by Neil Gaiman and also the fifth volume of The Sandman - A Game Of You
wrote the whole third section of the thesis chapter I am working on
wrote the whole fourth part of said chapter
updated my to do list for my thesis work, and planned what I will be doing in these next couple of days
updated both my reading journal and my travelling journal
continued the audiobook of Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman (I swear it's a coincidence that everything I have been reading lately is by him, he is indeed my favourite author but none of this was planned)
Self care things I did:
read first thing in the morning
journaled in the morning
created a new moodboard for my tablet to help with motivation/inspiration
avoided coffee
stayed hydrated
