the thing about seanwhite is. right. they want to be equals. this is why they fight over how much space white gets in the bed, and why white moves off the high point of the bed and down to the floor with sean when sean is actually opening up, and why the trust fall is so important, and why when sean bites his ear & kisses his cheek, white does the same thing to him. it's reciprocal bc it's equal bc they trust each other. except. it's not equal bc white is hiding the black secret, which allows for black to not only retake his place as black but to take on white-as-black, and beat sean down so badly that he (very short) is towering over sean (very tall) and all sean can do is beg on the floor and clutch black's leg.

it's funny that you sent me this on a day when ao3 user abdication once again posted another fic. i'm a big fan of their characterization and i love their fics w/ infidelity, especially this series and this standalone
these two fics by user basicallymonsters are some of my all-time favorite. they were the first fics i read that made me sit up and go "yes yes yes this is THEM." the mixture of devotion and angst is the sandray special, w/ good characterization to boot
we've got two rlly great hanahaki fics, one by squidinkblot (finished) and one wip by invisiblegarters - again i can't highlight that line between devotion and angst enough it's so GOOD
i also really enjoyed these two au different first meetings by the same author, mslunita: this long chapter fic and this shorter one-shot.
and this future fic by jennaflare can make me cry on a good day. yes many of these are just my bookmarks but they're the first ones that come to mind. tbh the sandray ao3 tag is truly not as bad as some other ql shows to dig through, there are lots of good ones in there

Took a break from smut to write the death anxiety christian guilt Fadel&Bison angst that has been plaguing my mind
Not consciously inspired by this post from @squidinkblot but honestly with the amount of times i think of the post it probably was heavily influenced by it.
After Fadel gets shot in the chest, they only just manage to make it into the house before Fadelās legs fall from under him. Bison drags him to the kitchen, somehow managing to hoist him up on the table and grabbing their emergency kit to get to work. He knows what he is doing, but it is tough. Finding and pulling out the bullet takes a lot of time, and by then Fadel has lost a concerning amount of blood.Ā
Somehow he is still awake, kept conscious by just the adrenaline, but the world is getting fuzzy around the edges, and the pull Fadel feels to close his eyes feels nothing like sleep. āBison,ā Fadel gets out through shallow breaths, āHow does it go? It- itās 'Hail Mary, Full of Grace', and then?āĀ
Bisonās hands still for a second. āYouāre not even Christian,ā he responds, trying to force a smile. Fadel doesn't answer; thatās not why he asked, Bison knows that.Ā
Two months into them living together, Bison stopped having to ask if his brothers might wait before eating so he could pray because they just waited out of habit. Fadel always kept his hands in his lap, mentally reciting some of the parts that he knew along with Bison mouthing the words. After their first kill together, Fadel made Bison his favorite meal, hoping to offer him some kind of comfort. As soon as Fadel put the plate down, Bison grabbed his fork and started shoveling the food into his mouth without any pause. Later that night, huddled together in Fadelās bed, Bison had told Fadel that to ask forgiveness for the things they did would be a mockery of God. Stillāhe confided in himāheād probably pray when he died, out of apology more than anything.Ā
āBison,ā Fadel repeats, pulling his brother's attention back. Bison looks over at Fadel's faceāhis expression tense in an attempt not to cry out in paināand back to the wound that his hands are now trembling over.Ā Ā
āHail Mary, Full of Grace,ā he repeats slowly, before continuing after a pause āThe Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among womenā He sniffles, his hands slowly becoming steadier as he is able to follow the familiar rhythm of the prayer. āand blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and-ā Bison stops, tightening a stitch and swallowing the doubt from his voice. āat the hour of our death.āĀ
Fadel smiles. āAmen,ā he says softly.Ā
āYeahā¦ Amen, Fadel.āĀ
After that, Fadel doesnāt say anything else, but he keeps breathing, so Bison keeps tending to him. He walks through the steps; raising his feet, laying a blanket over his torso, moving his head to the side, and checking the state of his pupils at intervals. Without being aware of it, Bison catches himself reciting āAngel of God, my guardian dearā in his head.
When Fadel wakes up, Bison lights two candles on his bedside table, before coming back a minute later to light two more.
