SIX YEARS AGO TODAY i started a group chat where we showed each other documentaries as a way to get through the pandemic lockdowns. since then, my friends Lorax and Lucy have been running it ***continually*** every single day since, essentially as an always-on daily broadcast with a chatroom. im not kidding. this group chat and eventually website/server is called We Love To Learn, Docuchat for short. today Lorax is running anniversary programming all day and I strongly recommend dropping in to check it out and maybe sending the Docuchat staff a little walking-around money for server and time investment purposes.

ring is using these ID features to search for/identify people that ice wants to deport/kidnap/disappear, & using it to spy on Americans in general.
This ad is the company's gross & sneaky attempt to appeal to humans' kindness [ I'll be helping people find their pets!" ]
They are trying to trick more people into buying this tool that will be used as surveillance on people living in the USA

Check, Please! has been optioned for a film/television adaptation. A while ago, actually—and that’s lovely. Nevertheless, the vast majority of options do not become television because it takes a million things going right to get projects off the ground.

From when Bitty first stepped out into the rink at Faber, to when he kissed the ice at graduation, we've all been part of this fun, weird, magical world of Samwell hockey. But when I left the world of Samwell hockey, I left knowing Jack and Bitty's story was done. Bitty's journey as the first openly gay NCAA Division I hockey captain was done. We baked the last pie; we shut off the lights at the kegster; the story was complete.
…But as I looked around I realized, I had one more story to tell.

Reminder that "separating the art from the artist" is a sentiment that only works when the artist is dead and no longer profiting off the work in question.

Adriana Smith’s family, while dealing with the grief of suddenly losing her and watching her body linger and knowing she would never wake up, watching her body being used as an incubator after being given no choice in the matter (and worth noting for so-called “pro-life” folks, Smith’s mother April Newkirk has said “I’m not saying that we would have chose to terminate her pregnancy. What I’m saying is, we should have had a choice.”), is also BEING BILLED for this indignity, this cruelty, this undoubtedly racially motivated miscarriage of justice.
And much of this at THE HOSPITAL SHE WORKED AT AS A NURSE - her coworkers, by choice or by “just following orders,” were the ones to perpetrate this disgusting removal of personhood and agency — after she went in (to another hospital) complaining of a headache and was dismissed with pain medication, with NO TESTS ORDERED BY HER DOCTOR. She was declared brain dead from blood clots the next day, and that’s also 100% the racism, sexism, and ESPECIALLY misogynoir of the American medical field at work.

also, if anyone is possibly concerned about patronizing the film because it would just go into Zaslav's pockets (who wanted to write off the film and had it sold off to an independent distributor with hardly any marketing budget or prominence), the people who worked on the film themselves are saying that's not true and encouraging you to go see the film. please do so!
