Lyra Kane
I honestly don’t get why so many people hate Lyra.
Like… you don’t have to like her, that’s completely fine. Not every character is going to be everyone’s favorite. But the amount of hate she gets is actually insane.
I feel like a lot of people made up their minds about her really early on and never even tried to understand her. Every little mistake she makes gets blown way out of proportion, while other characters can do the same thing (or even worse) and nobody cares.
She’s not supposed to be perfect. That’s literally what makes her interesting. If every character always made the right decisions and never messed up, books would be so boring.
I also think a lot of people compare her to other female characters instead of letting her be her own person. Just because she’s different doesn’t mean she’s a bad character.
You don’t have to agree with everything she does to appreciate her. A flawed character doesn’t automatically mean a bad character.
I mean everyone has different opinions. I just don’t understand why people act like she’s the worst character ever when she’s really not. Sometimes it feels like people hate her because everyone else does, not because they actually gave her character a fair chance. I tried to understand why people hate her, but I couldn't find anything about her that would make her "evil", people are really just going a bit overboard.
(+ I even saw someone say that she is much more "Evil" than Emily Laughlin, but I never got an explanation as to what made her "Evil.”😭)
Honestly, she deserves much better than this fandom.
