@stephalumpsandnoodles
Just a peaceful hedgehog wishing you peace and calm.
i wonder if my pets have like a proper language and when i try to speak back to them im just speaking jargon
like for example my cat always speaks to me when I come home and i meow back to her and sheâll meow again & even though i donât think twice about it to her itâs probably a situation where itâs like
her, meowing: âim glad youâre homeâ
me, meowing back: âtax benefitsâ
her, meowing: âwhy do u always do thisâ
cats actually have a human-specific language. cats donât often meow at each other and seem to use subvocal communications that humans canât hear to chat cat-to-cat. however, cats seem to use what humans would call âshout-until-youâre-understoodâ to speak to humans. so basically, itâs more like:
âIâM GLAD YOUâRE HOME!â
âtax benefitsâ
âNO, IâM GLAD YOU ARE HOMEâ
âwaffle ironâ
âITâS OKAY. I LOVE YOU TOO, MY DUMB HUMANâ
The domestic house catâs wild ancestors have a much harsher voice, too. The going theory is that early cats mimicked human infants which tripped humansâ nurturing instincts, and then selective breeding did the rest.
We make a big deal over how dogs have developed the ability to understand human expressions and tones (and letâs be fair, that is in fact awesome), but cats are possibly the only species that has changed their vocal language to try to communicate with us.
what I love about this post (apart from cats because cats are ADORABLE) is the assumption that cats have words for tax benefits.Â
Are you suggesting they donât?
i wonder if magic is real, but only in a really mundane way.
when i was little i could almost inerringly switch back to disney channel right as the ads ended when i was channel surfing.
maybe youve never accidentally crushed a ladybug underfoot. maybe your microwave popcorn never burns. maybe you can spin around lots and lots of times before you get dizzy.
is that magic??
honestly im not sure if these are magic or just small, invisible skills. im not sure which i like better.
My ankles never twist. Â Iâve always been rather active, I did track for five years (all the running events), and one time while running I stepped in a hole, lost my shoe, and landed sprawling about five feet away. Â I pulled my shoe on and kept running.
I have a coworker who somehow makes better coffee than everyone else even though the grounds come pre-measured and all you have to do is load them up and push a button. Â I have a friend who has inch long nails that never break. Â My brother can copy origami just by looking at the finished product and my mother can do the same with knots. Â I knew a guy who never made an error when typing.
Maybe we all have little magics, the kind that you donât realize you have. Â Just tiny things that make your life slightly better but are completely unnoticed on the outside.
this is the cutest post i have ever readâŚ
Nooo Iâve actually shared this theory before. Like my Dad is really lucky finding parking spaces. And Iâve never cracked my phone even though I drop it on the time and have an average case. Like what if everybody gets one trivial part of their life that theyâre illogically lucky at?
âLittle magicsâ
PSA
IF YOU ARE COSPLAYING A DISNEY PRINCESS AND YOU ARE GOING SOMEWHERE WHERE THERE ARE GOING TO BE KIDS THAT WILL COME UP TO TALK TO YOU
YOU!!!! CAN!!!! NOT!!!! BE!!!! ANTI!!!! SOCIAL!!!! TO!!!! THEM!!!!
FOR REAL, I JUST WATCHED A VIDEO OF A GIRL DRESSING UP AS ANNA AND SHE WENT TO HER LOCAL MALL
SHE WENT INTO THE DISNEY STORE
WHEN A LITTLE GIRL CAME UP TO HER AND TRIED TO TALK TO HER
THE COSPLAYER WALKED AWAYÂ
AND LOOKED AT THE LITTLE GIRL LIKE SHE WAS NUTS
THAT IS HORRIBLE
I USED TO DRESS UP AS SNOW WHITE FOR CHARITY EVENTS WITH CHILDREN
I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW AWKWARD IT WAS WHEN OUR ELSA DID NOT TALK TO CHILDREN
SHE WAS NOT INTERESTED IN TALKING OR BEING AROUND THE KIDS AND THAT MAKES THE KIDS UNCOMFORTABLE!!!
IF YOU ARE COSPLAYING A CHARACTER THAT IS POPULAR AMONG CHILDREN, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BE NICE TO KIDS
TO THEM, THEY ARE ACTUALLY MEETING THIS CHARACTER THAT THEY LOVE OR KNOW
IT IS UP TO YOU TO NOT BE A DICK
You also gotta know that if youâre going somewhere where there will be children and youâre in a costume even slightly similar to a Disney character they will think you are that character.Â
My hair is dyed white and at last yearâs Ren Fest I was dressed as a water nymph. So i was in all blue, with glittery blue heeled boots on. Personally, I would have never thought that I looked like Elsa. I had leggings on, not a dress. And no ice themed anything. But that didnât stop the sweetest little princess from asking me if I was Elsa.Â
Iâll admit that I was thrown for a loop, since I thought I was a pretty convincing mermaid on land with my scale print leggings. But Iâm not a dick so I quickly recovered and said I was her cousin. Kids are more than happy to accept that and she smiled then shyly ran back to her mom to tell her she met Elsaâs cousin.Â
If youâre in a glittery costume of any sort, in a place where children will be, be prepared to be nice to them. Otherwise youâre just a jerk. No one likes jerks.
Donât be a dick.
Seriously. If I go anywhere in ANY costume, no matter if Iâm a princess, hero, or villain, Iâm nice to the kids. They just wanna play!
I donât even like kids, but one of the most rewarding cosplay moments Iâve had was interacting with littluns as Rose Quartz. Every kid got a hug if their parents said it was okay. Every kid got told that they were very special because theyâre a human being. Iâm looking forward to doing it again this year, because giving a kid a moment of genuine magic really is something else. It doesnât hurt you to smile at a child.
When I cosplay Pearl I have precious little ones come up to me and you better bet I goof with them about how gross eating is or how loud amethyst is (and pretend to get a sooooo offended when they say someone else is their favorite gem)
You are making magic real for those kids in that moment and if you arenât prepared for that, maybe think twice before cosplaying that character. I had a child completely frozen in disbelief and joy over seeing me, a character from a show they love, thatâs power you have to wield responsibly.
Itâs not just with popular lady characters. My best little-kid-cosplay-moment was when I was cosplaying Thor (not lady Thor from the comics, my own version of genderbent MCU Thor). I was walking through the dealerâs hall and suddenly saw a gaggle of Tiny Avengers in those Walmart costumes barrelling towards me. They crowded me in excitement and asked where Loki was because they wanted to find him and beat him up (I told them to give him an extra punch from me when they found him), then all six tried to crawl into my lap when I said yes to a photo. Cutest thing ever. BE NICE TO KIDS WHEN YOUâRE IN COSTUME.
//If youâre going to be cosplaying -any- character that children will recognize, BE NICE TO KIDS!! To them, you -are- that character. And you have no right, what so ever, to destroy the illusion of what, to them, is a magical moment.
When I cosplay Batman, to little kids, I am Batman. And it is such an amazing experience to have kids run up to me and want a hug, and tell me about how when they grow up they want to fight bad guys too. I canât fathom someone being so rude as to ignore them.
I have a friend who cosplays Han Solo, and a little girl was so excited to see him that when he knelt down to talk to her, she hugged onto him and didnât want to let go for ten minutes.
Also, remember IF THERE IS A LOST CHILD AT A CONVENTION, AND YOU ARE COSPLAYING A PRINCESS OR A SUPER HERO, THE CHILD WILL GO TO YOU FOR HELP LONG BEFORE THEY THINK TO APPROACH A SECURITY OFFICER!!! You have a duty to help that child! Help them calm down, escort them to the nearest safe zone, and inform a security officer that the child has misplaced their parents/guardians. -Never- use the term âlost childâ in front of the kid, itâs the parents who wandered off and got lost, not the child.
As someone with a six year old sister, I firmly support this. Children are young and innocent and you donât really have the right to destroy that. It wonât kill you to play along for a little bit! While it seems annoying, itâs only for a little while. A few minutes to act like your character wonât hurt, itâs actually a lot of fun!
@dothacker16 I want to go to a park or something on a busy day and cosplay as Disney characters.
Please do not be the thing that crushes a smol humanâs world. So many of us are broken with no way of knowing if weâll ever be fixed. Please donât add children to our steaming pile of self-loathing garbage.
I went to a convention and there was this little kid dressed as The Joker, and this professional Batman cosplayer just went along with it. Probably made that kidâs day, though I seriously have to question why his parents let him watch Suicide Squad.

It hurts how relatable this is

Rihanna becomes the 1st female singer to receive Harvard Universityâs  "Humanitarian of the Year.â Very deserving.

How dare you EXPOSE me at 5:18 am on this good Monday
LITERALLY ME
That did not go where I expected it to.
using languages other than your native language like
reading: i am the avatar, capable of mastering all of the languages
writing: alright, yeah this isn't so bad
listening: whoa there partner i sure would appreciate if you could you say that at half speed and repeat it a couple of times for me
speaking: let me practice this 3 word sentence 20 times in my head and look up each word in the dictionary and make sure i have all the right forms before i ever say it to another human being
I CANâT WITH THESE DAMN COWBOY HAT MEMESÂ
LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOO son whoâs making these???
Literally only 90s kids remember this. Any adults in the 90s had no idea what the fuck these were. Thatâs why so many adults died due to heat strokes while they were in their cars in the 90s. They had no idea how car windows function. This post is dedicated to all those who lost loved ones due to the incompetency of automobile manufacturers who thought it was a good idea to make a hand crank that only people born the 90s could see.
And a bonus drawing:
