Really enjoying the scritches
Absolutely enamoured with this snail mug I got yesterday....
A snug of snoffee
steam repeatedly notifying you that a friend is booting up a game thats clearly not cooperating feels like ur sitting inside and someone outside keeps trying to rev up a lawnmower
You ever think about many peices of media have zero women and thats just perfectly normal but if a peice of media has an all female cast people get... like that? Women should be allowed to kill over this btw
same but it's black people
That's right
sexism in medicine kills people. racism in medicine kills people. fatphobia in medicine kills people. queerphobia in medicine kills people. classism in medicine kills people. ableism in medicine kills people.
do not downplay people’s fears about being mistreated because they are a part of a marginalised group. it is a matter of life and death and you should be angry about it.
One of my most radical and alienating takes is that doctors are just health cops. I've pissed people off saying this before. The Hippocratic oath is fucking bullshit. The ethical standard is garbage. Doctors are just folks who get to arbitrate which bodies are or are not normative, worthy of treatment, and/or worthy of study (how little do we know about women's health?).
And if my daring to do anything other than mindlessly glaze this cruel establishment touted as our supposed saviors offends you? I don't fucking care anymore.
How many plugs have to be pulled? How many insurance claims denied? How many women accused of faking? Munchausens? How many Tuskeegee experiments? How many racial myths (like black people not feeling pain)? How many disabled folks abandoned? How much medical neglect? How many more black mothers have to die in child birth?
Fuck doctors. I'll say it with my whole chest. I'm a caretaker. I nurse people through seizures and change diapers every day. I'm considered low skill labor. Yet some fuckface doctor who walks from hospital room to hospital room, without ever getting his hands dirty, giving people a once over and making split second calls that alter entire lives with little second thought is touted and glorified as a hero.
"why do you know that" i am curious about the world around me
summer is finally here, so this is a quick reminder to stay as cool and hydrated as possible if you take ssris, adhd medication, or really any medication that messes with your heat tolerance, especially if it's 90f/32c or hotter.
do not fuck around with severe heat and humidity. you will find out very quickly and it will hurt. get some electrolytes, keep a water bottle with you, slap some sunscreen on. learn about the warning signs of heat stroke. be safe and careful!
Maryland will become the first US state to ban surveillance pricing in retail stores, after passing Protection from Predatory Pricing Act.
Jesus fucking christ that this exists in the first place
I WAS FUCKING WONDERING WHAT THOSE DIGITAL PRICE TAGS WERE ABOUT SUDDENLY i had hoped they were so the workers didn't have to finagle those little papers into the slider part anymore 😭
Hi, yes, that is the OFFICIAL excuse made to me by the guy replacing the paper tags with digital ones at my local Walmart, but the end goal is to remove the numbers off the shelf entirely, replacing them with QR codes that you have to scan with the app…. Which requires your login information….. and also stores your card information so even if you didn’t use your Walmart account at the physical checkout, if you used a card they recognize, they assign that purchase to your Walmart account purchase history.
I explained very clearly to the manager my issue with the meat section not having the price tags listed, and they claimed it was only going to be for the meat, since meat is by weight, and the price of each item is printed on the packs of each item.
Sure. That’s how they get their foot in the door. Fast forward not even two weeks, and here we are:
Bar codes. No prices, no item descriptions. No price stickers on the individual items. Heck, not even the name of the item that is SUPPOSED to be there.
No. The only way to see the price is to scan it on your phone app, which is also recording what you looked at recently, as a way of gauging what you might be looking for in the future.
So here’s what we’re gonna do gang:
Every time you go into a store that has implemented these price-less tags:
Take 1-3 items up to the cash register. Ask the cashier for the price, or hit the price check item on the self checkout, which will likely call over the attendant.
Express that you didn’t actually want it, you just couldn’t see on the shelf how much it was.
POLITELY, AND WITH A THANK YOU FOR THE PRICE CONFIRMATION, Give the items to the cashier or attendant to put back.
When they inevitably try to push the app, politely decline. If pressed for why not, say you don’t want to have to carry your phone in-hand the whole time you are shopping in order to see how much things cost. (Not having cell service or data to use the app is NOT a valid excuse, as stores already often have complimentary WiFi AND more stores will provide WiFi rather than give up on this push for surveillance pricing)
If it’s a shelf-stable item, the cashier will have to set it aside, taking up room in their limited operating space, and eventually pass it off to someone to put in a holding area to put back later. If it’s a fridge/freezer item, it might have to get tossed due to food product sale regulations.
In either case, you are making it a pain in the ass for them to have these digital bar codes. Tie up the checkouts. Give the employees more busywork that the company has to pay them to do. Hurt their bottom line having to toss the pint of ice cream you carried around in your cart for 20 minutes before giving it back to the cashier.
Yes, call your reps. Yes, push for more legislation like this in more places. But also take an extra minute out of your shopping trip to MAKE IT HURT for companies to pull this shit.
I've seen some people in the notes express (very fair) concern that this is only going to inconvenience already under-paid laborers, and not have any impact on corporate. While I can't speak for every company or every store, I do work in a grocery store and I can tell you this is precisely the kind of thing that would have an impact, especially if people are doing it en masse. Stores absolutely track their shrink numbers, and they do draw distinctions between what gets stolen, damaged, or wasted for other reasons. If people are making it clear that the reason they're bringing things to the cashier is that the prices are not adequately represented on the displays, and rather than improving business it's wasting product, slowing down transactions, and causing confusion and mistrust in customers, that is a language that shareholders speak.
If there is enough widespread complaint about it at store level, it WILL get back to corporate. You can also make complaints online.
every time someone realizes they dont have to pick between being a boy or a girl an angel gets its wings btw. and also extremely loud cheering can be heard in the distance from me specifically
btw if you've ever wondered why i make posts like this and get really obnoxious about nonbinary positivity. this is why
and for all of yall that are still figuring it out or aren't getting the support you deserve:
@this-is-nonbinary-joy
you solve the mystery of what to have for dinner one night and you think "hell yeah case closed forever" WRONG there is a dinner mystery the next night too
ok so many people in the notes are talking about meal planning and leftovers and no. thats not what this is about.
leftovers and meal plans dont matter
dinner mystery isn't "i dont have food" its "what will my brain and/or body allow me to eat rn?" and thats a much more complex mystery than either lefties or planning can solve
a lot of people really do use afab / amab in a way that is indistinguishable from female / male. but that's not really surprising since changing the terms we use is easier to do than, and often a distraction from, changing the frameworks we are actually using to make sense of things that those terms just act as symbols for. ultimately the euphemism treadmill will just keep running unless we actually deal with the intersexism, exorsexism, and transphobia at the source.
changing terminology should be a gateway to, and a symbol of, challenging and changing our frameworks. but changing terminology is not synonymous with changing our frameworks and when it becomes our main focus and goal, the new terms will always just end up becoming a smokescreen for the same old problems.

Mask chains are now available in my shop!!
The mask chains pictured above are now listed in my ko-fi shop! I only listed a few to start, but I have made LOTS of mask chains in the past. I am not able to really take formal commissions right now, but if there's something you'd like to see, you can email me ([email protected]). If I am able to make it, I will let you know when I list it in the shop. Then if you like it, you can get it! And if not, no worries- you didn't pay a commission down payment or anything! Maybe someone else will like it! To get an idea of what I can do, here are some mask chains I've made in the past (these are not currently for sale):
i understand that it's unreasonable to expect a band on world tour to play in every country in the world but i do think they should only be allowed to call it a world tour if they play in every continent. we need to make it embarrassing to say world tour and then not even step foot in africa
oh I'm sorry it's okay ralsei you don't look like anyone at all and definitely don't have an anagram of their name either
This is so true and it's very common to be misdiagnosed in general for actual physical disabilities to be mental illnesses/disabilities.
I have fatigue, headaches (now looking if they're migraines), and dizziness. Before even being considered to be POTS and migraines I was diagnosed with Disruptive mood dysregulation disorder. As I was not believed by my head doctor to actually be in any pain. I then 2 years later after multiple failed doctors went to urgentcare for the all of it again (for the second time), and got sent to a Psychiatrist who made me take antidepressants. They obviously did nothing as that wasn't my issue.
My friend has a stomach issue that got dismissed for a long time as just anxiety. Another friend was misdiagnosed for years before getting to her Reumatoid Arthtritis. I have at least 7 more examples of people I know.
When something is wrong with the body, doctors can and do tend to dismiss it as mental. And I do think it has to do with gender in this case as most of the people that I know that have had this happen to them are women/were socially imposed as women/fem presenting.
Also the typical "but if you are seeing a therapist they won't do so because you would be diagnosed/in the process" is shit. I've had these issues for the last 5 years. I've been going to therapy for 8.
I have a suggestion
I spent my entire 20s having my debilitating fatigue attributed to depression.
I dropped out of school, lost jobs, lost friends. All evidence of my so-called "depression."
I had SLEEP APNEA. I was exhausted after "sleeping all night" because I was WAKING UP NOT BREATHING and had gone a decade without an actual good night's sleep.
But sure. "Depression."
